    Interesting approach.

I actually do the opposite usually. I think of a broader theme and then think of a situation that applies to it.

    Hey, I'm very empathetic!

Also, I guess guys are better at not making sweeping claims along the heteronormative gender binary.

Sometimes I get ideas just from looking at a certain object, or riding in the car with my mom or dad. A little tidbit I hear on the news, maybe a sentence I hear on the radio. Sometimes, just a short line that wriggles into my head is all it takes for an idea to form.

Titles too, sometimes I think of a title before a story. I havetwo three of those right now.

I speak the truth Mr. McJollyson. That's why males have autism more than females. Females empathize. Males systemize.

Real life has a big impact on what I write. In my story, White Roses Fade to Black, there are two different sides to the story. There are also seven personalities, soon to be nine, which are completely different. There can be a happy, comical and jokey side to it, which I tend to write when something good has happened to me, but there is a dark side to it; it's affected by the things that affect me in a bad way, like breaking up with a girlfriend/boyfriend or fighting with a best mate. But I tend to change moods as easily as I change songs on my phone. That's another thing that affects my writing: music. I may have said this in one of my earlier posts, but music and lyrics really inspire and compel me to write. Usually, it ends up crap or another broing fanfic, but on that rare occasion that it doesn't, it actually sometimes works as something completely band unrelated. I enjoy writing so much, so when writers block rears its ugly head, I go on that inevitable search for the inspiration I've just got to have. (:

If I'm driving in my car alone listening to music I get lots of ideas, typical of the random/mundane sort. Things that could happen at a bar, a conversation at the house, mainly talking things. But it helps. Stories can't constantly be filled with drama.

Sometimes I also get ideas from movies. I watch a lot of them, but if I hear a certain sentence I like, or if I like the way it ends or something, it can sometimes help...

I seem to really like this thread...O.o

I put a significant amount of drama I think in mine. Certain stories have more agnst than others when it comes to me. I don't really know why- it's basically how I started out. I am branching out to horror and then to comedy eventually. I think its good for young writers who are just starting out to kind of feel their way around genres and styles until they find one they are comfortable with.

For a while I wrote in third person, I wasn't exactly comfortable with it. My writing improved once I went into first and second person.

Some people try to assign some carefully planned story line along with some sort of morality...or something. Every story I've read by a legendary writer has some secret morality/idea based plotline.

I just sit and write whatever comes out, without knowing why or how. I don't think of anything, really. I guess that's what seperates me from success.

I don't think it's a good reason to have all drama all the time, but I think at some points in a storyline, drama is kind of needed...

Or suspense or whatever. I dunno, I just think it's something that you can't use very much though.

I think sometimes I try too hard to write. Then I'm unhappy with my results and end up trashing the whole thing and starting from scratch with my original idea. Usually I like my original idea and nothing afterwards, but sometimes I like a little bit of the story and nothing else. It's hard to decide if I want to scrap the whole thing though.

Songs inspire me...songs bring a certain mood and feeling which decides the feel for the story....than the lyrics give the story a story (one story I have I was listening to Modern Myth by 30STM and the idea popped in my head, than I listened to Scream by Kill Hannah and that just added to the idea) so than after I have usually a feeling and story I end up using real life experiences like jumping in a lake, running into a glass door, wear fake mustaches, stuff like that.

    Well that was kinda random

When I decided that Overture in Solo was going to have major music terminology and I started researching it, that changed my entire story. I was stuck and then I found all these words and their meanings and before I knew it, I was done. Same thing with the alcoholic beverages I had to research for it.

A new "language" can make writing go so much faster.
