Writing Habits

I make notes on my stories. Like, with Music Girl, I have a complete timeline of everything that's happened in the book so far or before the point I'm at currently, a complete list of ALL the characters (in order of appearance), a relations chart that shows how eveyone's related, and a list of all the plot points I want to happen. I do these kinds of things for pretty much every chaptered story I have.

If I type in something that I'm not incredibly familiar with I have to go Google image it and look up the Wiki article and such. I also look up quotes on the theme of the story sometimes. I tend to make the layout/banner in the middle of writing the story if it's a longer oneshot/chapter.

I actually make the noises that my characters are making. Like, I'll go 'mmmmph' out loud and make sure it sounds right. And I'll read the story dramatically. My roommate walked in on me once and got so freaked out

Twirl my hair, run the pendant on my chain across my lip and try not to suck on it 'cause it tastes foul. A fitting song has to play in the background to get in the mood Um..what else..I usually drink tea, or at least something. I tend to shake my foot in a certain motion. Weird but ordinary stuff.

I tend to bite my nails a lot, and if my room is messy I'll tidy it - I have to write in a clean environment or it's too distracting.

I've stopped listening to music while writing, instead I leave open a tab with a television show playing - like Vampire Diaries, Gilmore Girls, or The Tribe (which I'm trying to get through).

If I'm writing really smooth and I hit a kink in the flow of my words, I always feel like I HAVE to write 'writer's block!' at the top of my page, or I'll get writer's block XD

My 3-Liter water bottle must have at least some water in it and be near-by.

Also, I throw my phone in another room or put it somewhere I can't hear it. (I can't turn the bloody thing off anymore ><)

I have to have something on in the background to tune out. Music distracts me, so it's generally a movie I've seen a million times or a show that I really don't care about watching. Lately, it's been Twilight and that show where the guy tries to eat all the food

Lately I've been going back and forth between writing and either reading pottersues or watching Doctor Who/Torchwood.

Eat and listen to drinking songs.

Yup My friend and I used to watch it all the time, but we both got frustrated because he rarely wins anything, so it just felt like we were wasting a half-hour of our lives so why not get some writing done and be productive. /totesofftopic

Lately, when I'm writing late at night or early in the morning, I like to sip on one of those little cans of Red Bull. It's like, the perfect amount of caffeine for me: enough to keep me awake and focused but not so much that I'm distracted and bouncing off the walls.

When I'm typing a story I have to have absolute quiet. Any sort of noise will drive me bonkers, distract me, and possibly scare me. If I hear someone around the house making noise I tend to yell at them to be quiet.

This is so much. lmfao.
Also, when I type, I tend to kind of move my mouth with what I'm saying. But I don't open my mouth to mouth the full words. So, if someone's in the same room, they'll usually comment on my mouth twitching. -.-' rofl.

I chew gum and have on some music or a TV show while I write.

I'm usually saying what I'm writing in my head or lip-syncing it.

I get some of my ideas while I'm asleep so I write them in my notebook by my bed and transfer them to my plot idea list.

Me, I usually pretend I'm the main character and write down what I see feel and hear and say in his/her position.

While I'm in the shower I get ideas

I can't write without Music. It is usually instrumental Music, like movie or anime soundtracks, or classical Music like Bach, Chopin or Mozart. I usually have a cup of hot chocolate next to me and sometimes a little sweet snack, like cookies.

Oh yeah, I do that too. I role-play as my character in order to get the best reactions possible and make it real

I have to have some kind of background noise, or I can't write.

I've also noticed that when I write in my room, I always have to be chewing on something.

If I'm downstairs in the living room, I tend to stare at the TV with a dead expression while I'm typing. It's like I can see my story playing out on the television rather than what's actually playing. My mom tells me sometimes I have my mouth slightly open and I look like a zombie
