Oh yeah, I do that too. I role-play as my character in order to get the best reactions possible and make it real
I do this all the time.

I'm usually on the internet while I write, 90% of the time on Mibba xD

I ALWAYS write to music :D If I don't, then it comes across forced and horrible. Also, if I get stuck, I turn up the song I'm listening to and walk around, dreaming in my head the action that I want to happen in the part I'm writing :)

I get distracted easily so to keep myself entertained I'll switch from writing to web surfing. It's very easy to do since Mibba is really the only place I write and my recent discovery of being able to open up different tabs. :)

I always seem to write better if I write in my notebook before typing it up. And if I listen to music, I seem to write more.

This. My chapters are terrible if I type them on a computer without writing them down. Facepalm

I also play the chapter over in my head almost like it's a movie. It helps me get a better visual of the characters and the situation occuring.

I do this the night before I write whatever I'm planning to write because it's easier for me to work out the scene, both visually and in words, in that span of time right before I fall asleep.

I can't have music on when I write, which seems weird to some people. I listen to playlists to get myself in the mood to write the story, but while I'm actually writing, I can't listen to the music because I get too absorbed in the music and the lyrics to actually write anything.

I have several stations on Pandora that I listen to while I write certain stories to get me in the right mood/inspiration. certain stories have certain musical tones--and if I can't get a feel for the tone, my fallback is jazz.
I also do a lot of acting out in the living room what the scene is, to get the most realistic writing--i do this when i'm alone, however, because I look pretty silly. :P

I write at night, before or after I have a shower. I think of all or at least most of my ideas in the shower.
Everything has to be completely silent. Listening to music distracts me.

i get a lot of ideas from the shower too. :) also from my dreams, for some reason, they are full of fun stories.

I listen to music, mostly to what the mood is so I can capture it perfectly.
I tend to drum my fingers against whatever surface I have to either the music or to a song in my head if music is prohibited.
I go through what my characters say first and how they'd act, then reinact it.
I look at random objects for spurts of inspiration.

I write to music, like a lot of people. I also bite my bottom lip in a specific place when I think, so I do that when writing as well. And I tend to bite the skin around my nails a lot as well when I'm writing.

I have to get up and move around. I can't always think of lines when I'm staring at a screen- I have to hear them in my head. Sometimes I'll get up and do dishes, or have a shower, or go for a walk.

The shower seems to be a particularly great place to get ideas, because it's full of white noise. Likewise, if I'm walking, I take my ipod and just keep the same song on repeat.

I will repeat a sentence that I may have written a page ago in my head because it doesn't sound right. Then I'll go back and change it >.<

I check my Mibba messages every couple paragraphs. It's a really bad habit and it's super distracting.

I have to listen to music. Usually music that I cannot sing or lip sync to. Like Professor Layton music Wink
I still do this, which is sort of surprising since I posted it two years ago. I guess old habits die hard.

I've also noticed that sometimes, to get ideas, I daydream random scenes in my head to see how I would react verses the character. And when I don't have music on, I have the tv on to a random show just for background noise because I just can't write in silence. I also like to write out different pieces of dialogue that could be used when beginning to write a story. It helps me get some inspiration to write that particular story.

Both of em. I always hand write at least the first part of a chapter before beginning to type, so I've got pages of half-chapters, just a few paragraphs of chapters and full chapters in my writing binder.

I sometimes read aloud what I'm writing to make sure it flows. But I know that I read my writing over, and over again to try and pick out little mistakes and fix things.

I also find myself doing things I'm writing a character doing. If character A is biting her lip, I might bite my lip. If character A is humming a song, I'd be humming the song etc.. I get more into the feel of it somehow that way.

I always find myself squinting at the screen and furrowing my brows, because I guess if I stare at the screen hard enough, the words will magically appear. I don't know Facepalm

A lot of the things I do while I'm trying to write are the same things I did whenever I was trying to study, like gnawing on my lower lip or picking at my face.

I check back and forth between Mibba and what I'm working way too often.

I always have music playing, and it's usually something that I think correlates in some way with what I'm working on at that particular moment. I also always have a hot cup of tea- I don't know why, but I just can't seem to sit and focus without either.

I always take a drink (non-alcoholic XD) when I'm trying to think of what "comes next."
I also sometimes perform an action when I can't think of a proper way to describe it.
