Other Sites Like Mibba

  • mibba rocks to the max.

i was on quizilla but it got kinda boring after some time as the stories become more idiotic and the good writers are all leaving halfway because of everyone else copying their stories. so you see like many versions of the original good plots that are crude and have bad english.

mibba's much better in this sense as i really like the huge variety here and everyone's so nice and friendly. LOVE?it!.
though i would really hope mibba would have some "Most recommended list" or something. would really help with the story browsing. wouldnt wanna miss out on the really good stories. (the star rating system dont seem accurate thou)

  • Live Journal is pretty cool, you just need to know how to use cuts and find good communities. File

I have a FictionPress account too. That's a pretty awesome site ^_^ After Mibba of course.

I have a Quizilla too, but I've locked all my stories and I've officially 'left'. When the stories I've been reading finish, I'll be gone for good. Dance

  • Mibba seems great, but it's completely confusing, I have no idea how to do anything >.<

You'll figure it out. The more you lurk around the site, the more you discover and work everything out for yourself. That's how it happened for me, anyway.

When I first joined, I was here for a day trying to find stuff and was so intimidated by all the people on here that I didn't want to look like a total noob by asking what I thought were stupid questions on the forums.
So after the first day I got so annoyed that I left and didn't come back until two weeks later. tehe

But then I just started spending more time on here and figured everything out for myself - eventually. XD

And you will too, I'm sure. :)

  • Nothing could replace Mibba.
    (though, I'm new)
    Fanfiction.net is pretty cool

  • There's Buzznet which isss...similar...in a sense. It's a music community site, but it's got pretty much everything else mibba does. It's chalkful of FF and OF, and there are forums, and you can comment each other's profiles and stories and what not, but there's a lot of blogs and updates from music artists and stuff too.

  • Fanfiction.net and Fictionpress.com are great sites if you really want a good read. But if you're looking for comments they're pretty hard to get unless you've been on there for a long time. I've been on fanfiction.net for 4 years(?) and the only reason I ever got reviews was because I had a sort of small circle that would comment.
But I guess that's the same for every writing site really. You just kind of have to get lucky as far as getting reviews goes.

  • Nuclear Winter:
I do kind of wish that there were more non-fanfiction pieces here. I recently just signed up with fictionpress because it's strictly non-fanfiction.
I agree. And what's so odd is that sometimes they're really original and well written stories, and could post them as their own if they changed the names.

  • I miss quzilla before the drastic layout change, before it used to be so homey and load so fast, now its irritating and has way too many gliches and doesn't even allow for layouts anymore or a chance to personalize your things. I'm truly in love with Mibba now, too bad their aren't any websites similar to it.

I agree, the spelling and grammar was horrible. I deleted my account some time ago, just today I went back on to see if anything has changed and the first thing I saw was:

    OMG, readz disss!

I screamed and got the heck out of that site. Smiley

  • I recently recieved an e-mail about Fanstory.com, so before clicking on the link, I did a bit of research about the site. I came across this article, and was wondering if anyone had an experience with that writing site?

  • ^I had a free account on Fanstory.com a long long time ago. I remember liking the prompts and the multitude of interesting contests and eventually getting bored of it all. I think you should give it a try and get a free account, maybe you'll like it.

The only other site that I check daily except Mibba is goodreads.com, you can post stories/poetry/nonfiction there too, but it's mostly oriented towards reviewing/discussing published books. You upload your books and then you can organize them very very neatly. There are a handful of active book clubs too and people are friendly.

  • Elite Skills is a great site if you want decent feedback on original fiction; you just don't get that here.

  • I fear going on this thread, as I don't want to wonder onto a different site and forget about Mibba. No But as far as I know, Mibba has quite an amazing family-kind of knit. Everybody is so nice. Arms

  • As most have mentioned, there's fanfiction.net and fictionpress.net, which are great for the TV/movie/book/etc. fanfics, and fictionpress is original fiction. Quizilla is where I started, but it was really a lot harder to get any feedback or find stories or even post.

Some of my RL friends go on this website http://www.booksie.com but it's also more of an original fiction site and looks confusing to me.

I do agree - mibba is like no other. It's so much easier to make lasting friendships here, get feedback and it's just more welcoming than most sites. I'm really glad I found this site Cute

  • http://www.wattpad.com is good too(:
although I wish it had the make your own profile thing like they do here... parts of it are set up better then on mibba though.

but that's just my personal opinion :P

  • I'm pretty positive this is the only writing site I've ever been on tehe Sad to say that I'm not really much into reading anymore (stories, anyways. I do however enjoy reading articles and doing research on various topics), and I've recently got back into writing (random 6 AM whim?).

I do hear a lot about fanfiction.net or whatever it's called, and some other sites... I've never really bothered going on them, though. Shifty

  • Two guys in my maths class made this site talepost.com...You can post stories but they haven't made forums or anything awesome yet. I think its hilarious they think their site is better because they aren't going to delete stories etc. for poor grammar and spelling when that is one of the main reasons why a lot of people left quizilla.

  • As far as I know (for fiction, not just fanfiction), there's quizilla.com, scribophile, and fictionpress. I had a quizilla when I was twelve or something. My account is still up there because I don't remember the password and I can't delete it. I would link it, but then I would have to kill you.
But Quizilla is pretty suck-y since all content above PG is deleted and people are allowed to post grammatically incorrect stories at will. It's not well moderated and there is zero sense of community. As far as the others, I've never tried them. For the most part, I just wrote and saved it to my harddrive until I found Mibba.
