Oh, wow, there's only three AP classes offered at my school... I wish I had all of those class options.

I'm taking AP Lit next year, and I took AP US History this past year. It wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting, the exam was horrendous, and most of my friends got twos. I got a four, Shocked and I have no idea how that's possible, but I'm really really grateful. Hopefully I'll be able to use it as college credit. I need as much as I can get...

I'll be a junior this year and I've taken Ap English since seventh grade and I'm also taking Ap American History this year. I wish my school offered Ap Psychology, but they just offer the regular one :/

I'm currently taking APUSH and AP English. At the moment, I think I'll take the AP English test with ease, especially because I have such a wonderful teacher this semester.

The advance placement classes are prevalent in US and Canada and generally sponsored by the college boards there. They offer standardized courses to high school students that are recognized to be equivalent to undergraduate courses in colleges. Participating colleges grant credit to students who obtained high enough scores on the exams to qualify. The site http://brown.edu/Administration/Dean_of_the_College/courses/ap.php has the information about Brown Univeristy's policies concerning Advanced Placement Exams.

At my high school, they didn't offer a single AP class at all.

The only thing similar was a Dual-Enrollment English class in which students left their regular class once a week to do projects for a college-level English, and gained credit towards college.

This year (sophomore): AP European History
Next year: AP English, AP Psych, APUSH
Senior year: AP Statistics (there is no entry-level senior math at my high school - you're either in pre-calc, AP Calc, or AP Stats, and since I'm set up to take pre-calc Junior year, AP Stats is my only way to avoid AP Calc.) and hopefully AP Spanish

I had AP Calculus and AP English this year and was terrified because they both seemed really hard. Maybe it’s a good thing I was worried cause it made me work really hard; I studied late into the night, didn’t procrastinate the way I normally do and even used Shmoop to understand concepts and practice. It paid off, I got a 5 in both my AP Exams.

Okay, I'm currently a sophomore, and scheduling for next year is really important since I have to squeeze in so many credits at once. And at the moment, I'm debating between Honors World or AP. My Honors US teacher from freshman year specifically has said to me multiple times that I need to take his AP World class as opposed to just honors. I have no idea why, but this man could not talk highly enough about me (which is odd because I hardly said two words in his class) and has said that although he can tell I really don't like history, I should still take AP.

That makes no sense to me - I don't understand why he thinks I should put myself in a college level class that I know I will despise. US last year made me want to shoot myself; I can't imagine what AP is like. The bottom line is that I'm trying to decide whether a college credit is worth a semester of, for lack of a better term, misery.

I tell myself I should suck it up and just take the class, but Im not at all confident in my ability in thi subject (although he just couldn't say enough to the contrary) and I think an A in Honors World would be better than a B or C in AP. Is there anyone who has taken this class that could give me a little general guidance as to what to expect, though it obviously varies from school to school?

I'm actually taking 4 AP classes this year: US Government, World History, Spanish, and English (whatever English it is for senior year). I'm actually really excited. File

I'm taking AP English Language & Composition which is actually pretty okay right now and AP Psych, which I heard was an easy AP. Shifty But I'm also taking two IBs which are like AP classes but the ones I'm taking are a little harder.

I took some Advanced Placement classes and some pre-Advanced Placement classes as well. Over the course of high school I took pre-AP English (middle school actually), AP English 1, AP English 2, AP English 3, and AP U.S History. I was also offered a place in AP Chemistry, but I turned it down because I really wanted to do Anatomy instead and I wouldn't have been able to take Anatomy if I didn't do it that year. There actually weren't many AP classes at my high school, we were pretty small. I did drop out of school my Junior year so I didn't get to do much of Anatomy, AP English 3, or AP U.S History unfortunately.

None of my AP classes were all that hard. I had heard all these horror stories going around school about them being very difficult but.... They were actually pretty easy for me.

I'm taking AP Literature & Comp, AP World History, and AP Biology. I kind of hate myself already. lmfao If I can pass at least one of these exams I'll be impressed.

Last year I took AP Language & Comp and got a 3. It was my first AP class and I had had no prior Pre-AP English classes, so to be able to jump in and get a 3 I was really proud of myself. File

I took AP World History my sophomore year of high school.
Junior year I took AP Language, AP US History, AP Psych, and AP Stat.
Senior year I took AP English Lit, AP Calculus BC, AP Physics, and AP Government (US + Comp, they combine them into 1 year long course, each a semester. Then you take 2 separate tests.)

I ended up with a fair amount of college credit, and though I'm a "year" ahead according to my classes for my major, I'll still end up with the regular 4 year program, just more time to decide and less time taking classes not related to my major. I think they're totally worth it! Thumb up
