Mibba Magazine September 2010: Revamped and Back in Action!

Mibba Magazine September 2010: Revamped and Back in Action! With September just around the corner, the latest issue of the Mibba Magazine is ready for launch! While on hiatus for a month, we reorganized, generated new ideas and welcomed new authors to our team. With many Mibbians starting a new school year or heading off to college, we decided that this month’s theme would focus on “Coming of Age” stories and experiences.

One section of the site that almost always deals with growing up, the “Personal Advice Column,” discusses issues many of us face when coming of age, such as struggling with your sexuality, self esteem problems, and love issues.

This month’s “Mibba Question” also relates to our theme. Users were asked to anonymously submit answers to the question “ Have you ever had a moment when you felt more mature than usual or a particular time when you felt you grew up? “ After reading the article, if you decide you would like to answer this month’s Mibba question, you can do so here.

If you’re looking for a good read, be sure to check out “Recommended by Us.” Stories featured this month cover a wide range of subject matter; everything from one shots about bullying to Doctor Who fan poetry. In addition to staff recommendations, you can always take a look at “No Pimpin' Just Reccin” for stories recommended by users like you, and you can recommend your favorite stories by messaging Sunset Boulevard. If poetry is more your style, be sure to read the “Pondering Poetry” (formally “Featured Poems”) column. In this issue, all of the recommended poems correlate with our theme of coming of age. If you’re interested in recommending poetry for the next issue, message sunsetwing. When in need of some non-Mibba stories, check out the “Book Recommendation” column, this month featuring stories that deal with issues such as Bipolar Disorder and romance conflicts.

Outside of literature, you can check out “Spotlight” for recommendations about all types of media. This month, you can look forward to getting the scoop on new films such as “Inception” and cool new websites such as Write or Die. For other fun recommendations, check out “Cheer up”, a column dedicated to producing laughter, featuring websites that host everything from beards to cute dogs!

For even more comedy, look no further than “Mibba Shame.” In this issue, you can look forward to laughs about awkward teacher confrontations, forgetting very necessary clothing and embarrassing interviews. If you need more heart-warming entertainment, read “Letters to Yourself” to experience the journey of one Mibbian through a year of her life.

No issue of the Mibba Magazine would be complete without writing advice, and the September issue has plenty! Need advice on developing your story’s setting? There’s an app… I mean an article, for that. “Setting the Scene: Location, Location, Location” provides all the necessary advice to help you create the perfect place for the events of your story to unfold. In this month’s “Article Column” you can expect advice on how to write an interesting biography and tips on reviewing.

Sometimes, users have issues with the site. As well all know, banning is the most controversial. A feature article this month gives users insight into why users are banned and the logic behind it. For even more information on the rules, check out this month’s “Staff Update.” This month’s article features explanations of commonly confused rules.
