The Core

Title: The Core
Authors: crediamo and ohanna;
Type: Original Fiction
Genre: Drama, Fantasy, War
Rating: PG-13

The Core is a fabulous tale centered around a fictional world's provinces, Palimea, and its impending destruction. At the center of this mystical land is a place simply known as the Core. There, ten beings with crimson markings covering their bodies called Advisors, act as gods that dictate and govern how the provinces' citizensncreated live their lives. However, after years of peace, the head Advisor, Zorac, decides that the town of Palimea needs to be destroyed for his own reasons. Though most of the Advisors disagree, the Advisor of Secrets, a young woman and our heroine named Lark, is the only one who cares for the people. She flees from the Core in her own desperate attempt to save the people of Palimea.

Thus this beautiful story starts, as a young hunter and his friend come across Lark's bloody body in the woods. Taylon, the male lead, is concerned for her health and brings her back to his home where he and his friend, Andor's, families both live. Once awake, Lark is questioned, scrutinized and judged by nearly everyone. She tells them of Zorac's plans, though not too many of her new company actually believe her and consider her a threat to the family, as well as Palimea.

As the story progresses, Taylon and Lark grow closer, as does Palimea's end. While she earns the trust of the two families, and the affection of a certain hunter, the rest of the Advisors are plotting the downfall of her newfound home. Can Lark figure out their plans and foil them in time? Or will she get caught up in a beautiful romance and leave Palimea's fate to be carried out?

The Core is beautifully written by two young, amazing girls. Each chapter is expertly written and paced just right. The word flow is just divine, not to mention their writing styles blend seamlessly. It is nearly impossible to tell who writes each chapter! The story is a great addition to Mibba not only because of the apparent lack of this sort of fantasy, but also because it is written as though it were written by two experienced authors!

I highly recommend The Core for fantasy admirers. This story is more like a work of art rather than a novel and would make fantasy authors such as J.K. Rowling, J. R. R. Tolkien, and Terry Goodkind proud. If you're in the need to escape this world and fall into a new one, The Core is definitely for you. However, be warned - Lark is a well-rounded and defined character and once you get started, it is nearly impossible to stop reading.
