Yeah, that's what happened with the Guardian Rhapsody, and now I need to rewrite it. But it's still good because now I know what NOT to do, and I have a much clearer idea of the entire web and flow of the plot and characters, so this rewrite should be much better. You can do the same with your story--make it up as you go along, and when you think of the full plot, you can go back and edit. Same thing happened with SuperHero. I wrote the first 4 chapters, ended up adding chapter 0 to it afterwards, then I added much more to the beginning of chapter one, and a lot of the details changed once I figured out the plot. It kinda just comes to you after a while of ruminating about it. It's like some brain mechanism--like when you're trying to think of something, but it comes to you days later at a completely random time. Same with plots. Don't stress too much about it, and just let it come to you.

Hmm... that's difficult to answer. Are you referring to a specific story? Because I do it differently for each one.

For The Guardian Rhapsody, the first three books I just kept writing whatever popped into my head while I had the word doc open on my computer. If I felt like putting a demon monster in Cleon (kind of inspired by Naruto and his demon! :D), then I do that. Really those books weren't planned out at all. It's only recently that I've started actually planning the plots out. I saw this video called "Zeitgeist" on youtube (you should REALLY watch it!! I HIGHLY recommend it! It's so eye-opening...) and it talked about corrupt government and manipulating the public into believing things -- so I literally wrote (and I'm actually copying and pasting from my notes): "manipulate the public to thinking something
don't tell them the true story
Joren and Reks are away from the two sides, so they can see both kingdoms for what they really are, and Joren's betrayal will save the world
Middle Kingdom is using the Guardians as a unifying agent, without Cleon and Kairi knowing. THE GUARDIANS EQUATING GOD IS ALL PART OF THE PLAN! if the guardians are god, control the guardians and you control the will of the people of the world.
control the world." So I basically start out with a general concept like "control the world. Manipulate the people." and I keep adding on more detail from there.

Like with SuperHero, I had the initial concept of a masked man saving the main character. Then I heard Hero by Skillet, and it said:

    "It's just another war
    Just another family torn
    Falling from my faith today
Just a step from the edge
Just another day in the world we live"

which gave me the idea to have them be slaves living in this violent setting every day. The violence is "just another day in the world we live." Then it did take me a couple of months to think of the masked man's "superpower". I didn't want Elena to be some weak girl that couldn't fend for herself and always needed to be saved, so I made her a genius. Then I was in my psychology class and we learned about something that sparked another idea (it's a spoiler so I won't tell you).

Erm, with the Essence of Sin, I seriously have no plan for it. I just write whatever the heck I feel like even if it doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I'm just fooling around with that plot.

Yeah, so that's the gist of how I do my plots :D

No, I totally get what you mean! If Jared was dating Kara when she was 13, he'd be 20. In addition to being illegal, it would be very weird :P

Yeah, exactly! Some people were talking about this guy who's like 15 and dating a 12/13 year old and saying how horrible and pedophileish that was. I was like... 2 or 3 years difference... seriously? You think that's bad?? In The Essence of Sin, Jared is 7 years older than Kara, Numare is I think 8 years older than Tara, Cleon is 2.5 years older than Kairi, and then in real life, my parents are like 5 years apart and my friend's parents are 15 years apart O.o

Haha, yay! You read it! :D Yeah, I totally had a crush on Numare when he was younger x3

Although considering he's 18 back then and I'm 19 right now.... >_O darn. Cleon and Joren are 17, too!!! *screams in horror* I feel like a pedophile now. But in my defense, I was 14 when I started writing this story! >_< They just didn't age fast enough...

Erm here's the link if you'd like to read it (by no means do you have to xD only if you feel like it, just letting you know it's there). This chapter: http://inkpop.com/projects/78786/the-guardian-rhapsody/read-project/?chapterid=128977#chapter
^__^ It just puts this cheesy smile on my face when I read it.

Awesome! Thanks for the opinions. They really help me out! Oo yeah, the Numare scenes were my favorite in the entire story xD They were hilarious! Do you want to read them? I'll put them up on inkpop (well it's up, but it's on private, so I'll just put it public for tonight for you).

Thank you so much for your honest opinion!!! I really, really appreciate it. :D

Yes, so many things in the beginning were completely pointless. Numare is more of a womanizer than a creeper :P And I agree that Kairi was a brat and Cleon was pointlessly emo (he did have a good reason for it, but I definitely should have introduced it sooner).

Yeah, I finally got over my delusions that Kairi being from Earth made the story more interesting. Granted, it made it more fun to write becuase I liked having Cleon see this whole other side of her, but really, it was unnecessary.

Actually, someone gave me the idea that Kairi could be from super weathly upperclass. That gives her a reason to be more poised than Cleon and a reason for Cleon to generally hate her for being handed everything on a silver platter while he was poor and went hungry some days.

I'm thinking of having just the first chapter of Kairi's, Cleon's, and Joren's book be their childhood. Then I won't have to do too much explaining during the story. Like Kairi's could be when she first met Cleon and Joren and Cleon punched her--and then maybe scenes with Numare, because honestly, I love that guy. I don't know if you read the rewritten Numare scenes, but they always make me grin like a fool when I read them over. :D what are you thoughts on that?

Hmm... how about "The Guardian Legend" or something like that....? "Legends" "Children of Legend" ....

yeah, Joren's book is definitely depressing... It's going to continue on with the same mood, too, unfortunately. The ending is going to be horrible, with him carrying out his plan, but it's going to be a bittersweet ending. Same with the ending of the entire series. So I hope it's mature enough to satisfy the stiffs who need some literary purpose, sad enough for the tragic lovers, and happy enough for the normal people xD

Thanks again so much for the comment!!

Hey, I read the comment you left on my profile ^^ I don't mind at all, however, I am curious to know why you want to know? :P And how did you know I made the layout? :S She is an actress/musician...her name is Aly Michalka. I don't know how I found her, but the minute I laid eyes on her; I pictured Raven to look exactly like her :P Odd, I know, but this is how I imagine Raven to look like :P

Haha! Your comment made me laugh. And I think the scene you mentioned already kinda sorta happened. I mean after Joren hurt Lina so many times, he DID feel extremely bad about it. Although she never forgave him (and I'm not sure she ever will..) and there wasn't any rainbows and happiness. :P But I'll see what I can do! Gut-wrenching confessions from Joren coming right up!
