Yeah, one is the standard original figure. The triplicate came in later, whilst there was a craze for triplicates. Although the snake-hair thing was Medusa, not Hecate.

Acorns are poisonous apparently. It's the 'tannins'. But you can soak them out. Knowing me, I'd find some Deadly Nightshade and think it a nice snack. That knocks you out in minutes, kills you pretty fast too.

We have loads of mushrooms in our garden. It's probably because our garden is so damp and shady. Maybe I should just loose myself in my garden instead... that way I'd be able to get to the phone if I did eat anything poisonous...

Flint's pretty easy to use - you just strike it against a stone and it makes sparks. The lint is special fabric that catches fire really easily, although if it runs out you could just use dead ferns. They catch pretty easily too.

Ooo, pretty! Can I resize it and put it on my profile? ^_^

Indeed... as you lie there, only a head, you can tell yourself it was all for a good cause... to relieve the world of a deadly enemy.

Yeah, most of them do have more than one function. Hecate was originally a foreign God, but the Greeks adopted her when they invaded, so she's changed quite a bit over the years - this also means she has a few more jobs than most.

Mushroom's too. Although I'll have to bring along a book on which are edible... probably same for the berries and nuts - knowing me I'll eat something poisonous...

Flint, a knife and lint is probably better for starting fires - it'll last indefinitely. Yeah, maybe I should just grab Bear Grylls before I leave.

Hmmm... by then it will have either swallowed your head or eaten everything but...

She's that too. She's got an insane amount of stuff acredited to her - she's also the goddess of travellers, crossroads, ghosts... etc. She's the mother of a hell of a load of mythical beasts, and Circe was her priestess. I had to research her for doing her monologue from Macbeth one time. It was quite interesting.

    Evil powers are treacherous...! XD

Aw, that would be admitting defeat. But I'd probably choose summer/autumn. And I'd bring a sleeping bag and tarpaulin. A tranja and some boil-in-the-bag meals too if I can carry it. Oh, and a compass, just in case. I've only ever used a GPS once, and they're kinda pointless without a map to compare coordinates with...

Well, you never know - you might have a silver necklace which you could shove down its throat. That way, you'd hopefully be prevented from a terrible mauling death.

It was just the werewolves that were hurt by willow. And it was mentioned in an episode of Dr Who - you have to look at your sources I guess. But it's not that unlikely. Willow was the tree patronised by the goddess Hecate, and is therefore allied to all things dark, her being the Goddess of Witches.

Well, in most myth they tend to eat animals, and only bite humans in order to change them. So I guess deer etc. If there's none of that at hand they probably do turn to cannibalism. But I guess it's not really cannibalism if you yourself are no longer human.

I have a slight desire to suddenly lose myself in a large forest just to see if I'd cope...

Hmm, maybe our ladybirds have migrated to your part of the world. Kinda like a swarm of locusts then? Scary... it's like... the 11th plague.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten the silver thing. Although I guess it doesn't matter that much until you get chased by one... actually that is quite a big matter. There was that whole thing about a certain tree being nasty to them as well... willow I think. Mmm, I think Vampires have it better off. Morphing might be painful... and at the very least inconvenient.

I've got a fairly good sense of direction when in town/ a building. But put me in the country and I get lost fairly easily. I can't quite remember why I wanted to take the compass to the chippy...

I didn't know ladybirds swarmed? That's extremely weird. Then agan, they're getting quite rare here, because other species are eating them. So we hardly ever see the one, let alone a swarm... THEY BITE?! Cute little ladybirds bite?!?

Yeah, werewolves are far more simple. The only real question with them is whether the moon makes them change or if they can change at will...

I'm pretty darn good with a compass, if I do say so myself.

Oh, well that's cool to have a fallback! Thanks, I'll try not to stress too much.

Too true... I think someone should write a definitive definition of what a vampire can and cannot do... then at least we wouldn't get so confused if we actually meet one, fictional or otherwise.

I once considered taking a compass on a trip to the chippy. I think my definition of what is necessary tends to get out of hand a lot of the time.

Mhmm. I feel like that sometimes. Hence the Ivy... it just shares the dislocation around a bit more.

I think I get what you're talking about... is this admissions to uni? You're waiting for your results and you're still not sure which uni - first choice or other - you'll get into, if any? Yeah, I'm kinda worried about my application at the moment. I get my AS grades on the 20th which will predict what I'll get next year, and therefore which universities I can safely apply for... I'm currently attempting to write personal statements for Drama, English Literature, and a combined Drama and English degree, because I'm not sure which I want to take yet. Talk about stressful.

It might be. But it generally follows the same rules. Occasionally a code will have a different letter or meaning.

Biting = at all times bad. Unless you are a vampire planning to make me immortal and very beautiful. In which case, please go right ahead.

Mm, the just-in-case motto has always served me well. Although it does mean I pack for about 12 people rather than 1...

Aw, that's a shame. It is fun. Although slightly creepy at times. Especially if you repeat your own name... with that comes a strange sense of dislocation.

Not to worry. I think it is perfectly normal to have an inner voice. Some people just don't realize they have one.

    You're very logical, indeed!
    (I like that word.)

I go home tonight, and I have some stuff I need to be doing tomorrow, but I'm free during the weekend (I think). We are supposed to celebrate Patrik's birthday sometime soon, and I'm not quite sure when...
    But, wanna meet Saturday?

Working with kids isn't so much tough as exhausting. As long as you're fit, you're fine. If you can't run around all day after kids, then you're going to get into a wee bit of trouble.

I'm fairly competitive, so I always liked the rush I got from beating people at sports. I'm less of a subliminal compete against myself type, and more of an in your face, I have to beat you girl. I like things that are objectively scored, and tend to stay away from competing in subjectively marked areas. Hence, the sports. All the ones I do have clear winners, with refs only needed to enforce the rules. It's just the type of person I am. I actually found it really weird when I started writing on here. I had originally signed up to read stories, not write one.

I've always wanted to work in another continent. I'm thinking of getting my schooling deferred for a year, and going to either Australia or Ireland for a year on a 'working holiday'. I'm totally looking forward to it, even though it's nothing more than a slight concept at this point in time.

Camp counselling is my summer job. I'm at a sports camp, so the kids I've got range from 8-13. Today was hilarious! One of the other counsellors have been playing black magic and snaps with them, and it drives them crazy! We were stuck inside all day due to rain, and we played black magic for an hour straight, no joke. And then my team managed to make a wicked poster for our 'Olympics'. I have no idea why a primarily boys group picked 'The Pink Flamingos' as their team name...

And don't even get me started on the Olympic obstacle cours... let's just say full hockey goalie gear, over and unders, bowling pins, hula hoops, and dribbling a soccer ball around cones.

Yeah, most sites have the same codes, but some use different brackets.

I know!! I had a major panic attack one day, because a friend decided to pretend to be a shark. He swam under the water and bit my ankle. For god's sake, that is not a practical joke!!! That is a traumatising event!

Hmm... could be easier said than done.

Some of the Uni's I've been looking at have the two semester system. I personally feel worn out after the first half term, so I think I'd probably die if I had to do a whole semester.

It's like when you repeat a word over and over again, until it doesn't sound/look real.... pickle pickle pickle pickle pickle pickle pickle pickle...

Being a lunatic is fun. I'm a camp counsellor, and I freak my kids out all the time. They particularly like the bug eyes that I do... and the 540 front flip I do where I haven't quite managed to not fall on my face.
