Honestly, I don't think they've gone "mainstream" or switched audiences. They've just grown up and pulled along that fans that have, too.

I'm a fan of their older stuff(Bullets, Three Cheers), and always will be. My music tastes changed with the years it took them to make this album. When their first single off the album was released (Na na na na na, etc.) I was slightly dissapointed. I thought they would make something better than that, and they are certainly capable. Not saying they should go back to how they were, but it didn't seem like it was years of hard work in there.

Overall, I liked the article, despite its length.

I absolutely adore My Chemical Romance's new album. I feel like everyone who used to be a fan who doesn't like it just hasn't matured with the band. Listening to their older stuff, I was caught in the same boat that they were; being confused about life and afraid to really live, but now I'm comfortable with how my life is and they are as well and their music reflects this. Such an empathetic band and that's why I love them. You have to have grown with the band to really honestly appreciate the new sound to the fullest. Awesome article! <33

When I found out that MCR was making a new album, I was excited! I loved their old stuff because that was how I felt, kind of angry and upset at everything. But now with this new one, I love the crazy sound to it and how they can be so versatile.

Many people except bands that are still doing their same old sound and staying with their image. While other people like to take a chance or a different road and listen to something different every once in awhile. If you like their old sound than listen to it. If you like their new stuff and are willing to take a chance just like the band did to create this album, than trust me you won't be diappointed. Every song is up beat and very strong meanings in their lyrics like all their songs are. I love to listen to new genres every day and I'm very greatful that My Chemical Romance change their sounds on every album they make. That is what makes me love them so much! They love to try new things and don't care what people think because they are very happy. They love making music and that's what they are doing. Creating music they wanna hear. (: I LOVE MCR!! :D ~&! FUN_GHOUL! \,,,/.

Frank Iero said it perfectly, "If you want to hear more of the old style, listen to those records." Not all evolutions will work, but the difference is whether an artist has the balls to attempt something new and interesting. I actually disagree with the "pop" terminology, I think most people just don't know how else to classify it. Danger Days took a little to grow on me, but now I believe it is just as good as The Black Parade and Three Cheers. Actually, conceptually, it is their strongest. I'd love to see more music videos/ or short films in the vein of Tank Girl, and the take no prisoners mentality of doing what they want and love is what makes them really Punk. No pop artist would have the guys.

    Killjoys, keep making noise.

as much as i appreciate all the comments, this is kind of for my portfolio for uni, so i'd rather people comment on the way that it's written rather than how much of a bitch i am for not liking the new album. kay, thanks ;P

I think this album is amazing. When you think about it, it's very, very close to the Bullets Album and The Black Parade sorta lost some feeling to it. Danger Days' lyrics are incredible and the way they designed the album is meant to be listened to like you would listen to the radio. Honestly, I haven't tired of the album&&I've been listening to it since Christmas! I don't know what it is, but they're incredible:].

ive listened to every song mcr has put out there, to be honest, i think they are brave, changing their styles in the same album, but its great!! it works!! and i think more people should support them and not call them emo, that isnt how they want to come across. they did an interview a couple of years ago and i watched it on youtube, they were saying how when they were younger emo meant completly different to today. so they were expressing what the world was like when they first made up their band but now its got worse so they are lightning the mood with their new style of music. clever, right?

I think it's one of their best albums, I'm curious as to what the next one will sound like.

    @Angelus, totally agreed!
People always get their knickers in a twist when a band tries something new. Bands don't disappoint their fans by changing their sound, the fans are disappointing when they don't support a band's growth!
I liked the album, and I've listened to MCR throughout their album releases. The changes have been drastic, but that is definitely not a bad thing. Everything they've put out has been great.

How dull would it be if they did the same thing over and over again on each album?
Thank goodness for bands like MCR, keeping it interesting :D

When I heard MCR's first 2 albums I immediately noticed that they changed between the albums. When I received The Black Parade as a birthday present from a friend in 8th grade, I listened to all 3 albums again. I noticed that they with every album that they changed their sound just a little bit. I anticipated the change for their 4th, and while I wasn't expecting such a big change, I absolutely fell in love with it. From November 22nd to mid January, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys remained in my car's CD player, only taken out once and ony long enough for me to listen to 1 song on another CD. I was not, in any way, disappointed with this album, and to say that so many other people were is just obnoxious.

Their old music is the best, but I doubt they just didn't consider how the older fans would feel. I can't imagine them doing that.

Yeah, sometimes I miss the Three Cheers days, but you know what? bands change, music changes, image changes. You aren't going to see Danger Days next to a Lady Gaga album. Everyone needs to calm down with all this "OMG they're mainstream!!!" So what if they're more popular now? If they weren't any good they wouldn't be.

They're still the same guys we love, the lyrics are still theirs and theirs only, and I still love them.

The new album isn't bad. I actually expected worse, with all their talk about doing something different... However, in my opinion, their older stuff is still better.
