Samantha is tall, tan, and has a very nice figure. She has long curly brown hair that shimmers with a hint of gold in the sun. Her eyes are light grey with blue flecks but shine bright blue when she wears blue. Although she is tall in San Diego, she is average height in La Push Samantha's parents are divorced so every summer she visits her dad for about 3 months. She has an older brother named Alex. She lives next to Jacob Black, who is her brother's best friend in La Push. Bella Swan was her old neighbor in San Diego, where her mom lives. She is also known as Sammy. She is a gymnast and helps out at a small gymnastics studio in Port Angeles for at least a month during summer. In return for helping, she gets to go to classes for free and go to open gym night for free. In San Diego, she did track, gymnastics, and pitched for softball. Samantha loves helping out at school events and is also very smart.

Jacob lives in the reserve in La Push, Washington. He lives next to Samantha and Alex Reed's dad, Tim. He has lived in La Push all of his life and enjoys the nature all around and the freedom. Many people refer to him as Jake. He is tall, dark skinned, usually wears his hair spiked up, and has these vivid brown eyes. His mom died when he was 3 and his dad is handicapped from the accident that killed his mom. Jacob plays football for the school and baseball for fun. He loves being outdoors. Jake is always doing some active whether it's cliff diving or exploring for somewhere special. He works well with little kids. Jacob and Samantha were always meant to be. They made mud pies together and spent most of their summers together. Jacob has always had a little crush on Sammy, but the feelings get much stronger the summer Alex prepares for college.

Alex Reed is Samantha's older brother and Tim's oldest son. Alex moved to La Push after his senior year so that he could attend the University of Washington to get a medical degree. He is very good with dealing with people and healing people, but Sammy is slightly better with healing people. He is one of the first to see the connection between Samantha and Jacob. Alex was one of the top football players in San Diego at his small high school. He stopped playing once he attended college and went through the transformation. At the University of Washington, he met his other half Claire.

Tim Reed

Tim is Samantha and Alex's dad. He is very supportive with everything his children do and keeps in contact with them although they spend most of their time at their mother's in San Diego. He helps both of his kids go through the transformation since he went through it as well. He is a doctor at La Push's large hospital and he is one of the few Makahs that have the special gift of healing and he passes it down to his kids. Tim is best friends with Billy Black and Charlie Swan. All of their kids are friends and they spend a lot of time watching sports and fishing together.

Billy Black is Jacob, Rachel, and Rebecca's father. He was married to Sarah Black, but she died in the incident that took his legs, the attack of the Cold Ones. Because of this, he does not trust the Cullens although they are the ones who helped save the village. Billy is handicapped, but it does not stop him from anything. He grew up with four sisters, but he is still kind of clueless of how to deal with his daughter. He has lived in La Push his entire life and raised his children there as well. He never went through the transformation since there were no vampires around when he was a teenager. Billy is best friends with Samantha and Alex's dad Tim. They are next door neighbors and Tim does a lot for the Black's. They like to go out fishing a lot with Bella's dad Charlie. Billy and Tim like to gossip like old women on the porch. He's very happy about Samantha and Jacob imprinting on each other.

Claire is Alex's imprint. There's not much said about her since the story evolves more around Jacob and Samantha. She is somewhat quiet and Alex likes to keep her to himself. She is very sweet and caring. She cares a lot about Alex and we are not fully sure how much she knows about the Makah history, but she seems to have some ideas about the bears.

Johnny is one of Sammy's best friends in La Push. Although no one comes out and says it, Johnny is gay. He's very bubbly and he's just always happy. Johnny loves being there for his friends and he's a really sweet guy.

Nicole is Samantha's closest friend in La Push, besides Jacob. She is very caring and really hates people who try to push others to do something they don't want. Nicole is a Makah and undergoes the transformation. She is similar to Johnny in the way that she is very bubbly. She is also not afraid to flaunt what she has.

Nick is a somewhat stuck up friend of Samantha's. He has had a crush on her for the longest time, but eventually moves on to like Amy after Samantha imprints on Jacob. He is neither Quileute nor Makah so he never undergoes the transformation and doesn't believe any of the legends.

Amy is one of Samantha's more stuck up friends. She wants things to go her way although it doesn't always work out that way. She is one of the more popular girls around school and she acts like one as well. It upsets her a lot when Samantha ends up being more popular, but she tries to make it up to Amy multiple times.
