I'm glad you showed a different side to him in this chapter, though. Before this, I guess I kind of just thought of him as the weird-and-horny-but-nice-guy-next-store type, the pushover, you know? 'Cause in the past he's pretty much done anything for Viola and he's been nice to her and he's cared for her and he didn't ever hurt her, but now we see that he really is human after all, and that he's capable of cruelty and being just plain old mean.

You're right on spot as usual. I don't think he actually believes her, more like scared it's actually the truth. But I mean, she never proved him otherwise so what else can he think.
