John wanted to make her feel better more than anything else in the world. He wanted to see her smile, a vision he imagined would be a contagious thing. He imagined her smile touching her eyes and making her coffee colored eyes sparkle. But John had nothing to ease her pain, he didn’t know the right words to lift her spirits. He was awkward and clumsy and he stumbled over his words from time to time. The only talent John saw in himself was his voice and the song he’d sing.

And so Amelia slept and John sat loyally beside her, singing away the demons in her head…at least for a little while anyway.

The whole singing her to sleep thing was beautiful. And I would love to know what goes on in that girl's pretty head. By the way, Good Charlotte was my guilty pleasure in grade nine. That was a wave of nostalgia that just washed over me. I wish the chapters were a little longer sometimes, but the update was actually really cute.

Sorry I can't help with the North Carolina thing. I'm British, so I can get away with that ;P

I agree. It's becoming clearer and clearer as the chapters flow by, and in a situation where someone chooses not to speak... how else would someone handle it? I thought you wrote this chapter very well... the emotionality was intense, but not as intense as it could be, you know? That's my con. crit. because this story is going somewhere, just not as far as I believe it could. I enjoyed the update though, =)

That was lovely, even though it was short. I love how she said his name and the way he reacted to his words. I'm not going to lie, cliffhangers drive me crazy. I can't wait for the next update and to learn more about Amelia and her past.

But John had no idea…he had no idea of what the gesture meant to Amelia, of how it made her heart race in all the wrong ways. Because John O’Callaghan had no idea that the last time a man touched her, he had almost killed her.
