oh my, they had a little girl and Brian abused both of them!?! that is so horrible.
He needs to get help, and start taking his meds again. If he worked out his issues he would not have caused them to lose their daughter.
I'm thinking that he is Bi-Polar, that can cause people to act out of the norm and have various mood swings. I am also thinking perhaps it could be Dissociative identity disorder, more commonly Split-personality disorder, in which a person as various 'egos,' perhaps Brian has 'Brian' and then he has 'Synester Gates' which is the personality which is abusive.

Wow. I'm kind of speechless right now.
To put your own child through pain?! You must have a serious problem to be able to do that. He should have never stopped taking those meds.
Now Emma has to deal with the sadness of not seeing her baby, she has a strong will cause I would have lost all sanity.
I'm afraid it's only going to get worse for her.
