Lemme start by saying that this story is marvelously written and I couldn't stop reading for the life of me, even though it's awfully early for me to be awake. I just had to drop a comment and say that I find this story ridiculously refreshing and all around wonderful. It's unlike anything I've read before and you deserve to have thousands of comments and amazing feedback for it.

I loved the update! SO MUCH. Especially how you show just how much Ruth is attached to Derek, even though he's such a mess. I love the dynamics of their relationship, no matter how screwed up they are..hah.
