I'm currently up to chapter 9 and am thoroughly enjoying this so far. You have a gift for creating atmosphere, and in this case the atmosphere is both amusing and unsettling, and I'm excited (and mildly terrified) to see what happens next. As I was reading, I thought this was quite similar in style to Stephen King, who's a master of atmosphere.
Also, I adore Simon. He and Noah have a wonderful back and forth, and your dialogue flows really well, especially between the two of them. There are the occasional lines where things lag a little, but I think overall you do very well at keeping your scenes and chapters short, succinct, and suspenseful.
I'm only on the first chapter and already there is suspense going on. Ever since you mentioned the jacket I knew this was going to be symbolic. Even the woman washing it on the lawn was a bit strange, since rarely people do that anymore.
Your characterization of Simon and Noah is wonderful. They are two peas in a pod and they're almost exact opposites. The way you voice Noah really shows her as a tough, tomboy-like character, which is cool. I like the banter that happens between the two of them, and even the small story behind the Reeses in the jacket pocket.
Your story flows at a nice pace. You don't use a lot of description, but so far I would say not a lot of description works for this story, except for things like knowing it is an Abercrombie and Fitch jacket. Small details like that work.
I also liked the layout, how it is simply eerie and makes the reader already decide this isn't going to be a happy-go-lucky story. It's easy on the eyes as well.
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Twas an amazing story thanks you for making it and I hope you make that sequel. I will be pissed at you if you don't. Haha kidding. (or am I)?
Until now, I have been a silent reader. I wanted to wait until the story was finished before I shared my thoughts about it. I discovered this story not long after you began writing it, and let me just say, I was curious about it at first.
I found the story while looking for suspenseful supernatural stories on the site, and yours is the only one that has intrigued me this much. I always looked forward to every update, and stayed up late reading if I missed a chapter or two. I love the friendship between Simon and Noah. I also love the bits of ASL you decided to put in.
Noah was an interesting character, as you don't see too many tomboyish main characters. I liked how she wasn't afraid of a lot of things, but just one thing can terrify her. I also liked how protective she is over her best friend. You did an amazing job writing this story, and if you decide to write a sequel, I will most definitely be reading it!
Wow this story is amazing! It took me 2 days to read to chapter 64 i believe, but I dident see ch.65 I almost died inside XD the suspense is killing me. Awesome story though :)
Hahahaha that's classic. 2 yrs ago in my hs health class, this black girl had just dyed her hair blonde. We were told to go to page 2 in our health books. She can't find and says out loud to the teach, "There is no page 2." I lean over since I'm in the seat just to her left and flip the left page and there is the 'missing' page. She did not live that one down.
Wow, i just started reading this and im only on the 10th chapter but i had to comment and tell you that this is amazing. I love scary stories and this is really good so far! :)
Love it, read the whole thing in one sitting... I have the suspicion that the killer is really john's girlfriend! Bum bum bum. And btw Simon- AMAZING! I know they're just friends but man would I die for a little romantic kissing scene where they somehow realize the deep love they have for each other. (Other than the millions of times they announce it as friends XD)
