Oh I have an awesome flashback coming that will answer some questions for you. Thanks for commenting. Even one comment on a chapter keeps me going. It's when no one says anything that makes me thing I've bored them to death. lol

It will be interesting to see if they find there is more than friendship between the two of them.

I must say that was quite a grand gesture on Sid's part to travel to Calgary to congratulate Kelly and make amends for the past. Maybe there is something more there - he is so guarded, maybe there was a reason he didnt let anyone else in.

This is a very good story - it's different then most - I like it :)

Sid did what he thought was best - for Kelly. It did hurt her a great deal but maybe he was right, and in the end she got what she wanted.

But by turning Kelly away, he lost a part of himself. And it obviously caused him a lot of pain as well.

It is good that she recognized that he did this for her.

I am glad Kelly is giving Sid an opportunity to explain his actions. She needs to get past the anger - It takes a lot of energy to stay mad at someone for 5 years. I am sure all that emotion could be directed in a much more positive fashion - like on the ice or in her private life.

And, if Sid has been carrying that photo around for 5 years, he must have major unresolved feelings as well.

I hope this will be good for them.

I hope the punch was cathartic - maybe Kelly got rid of some of that pent up anger that has been stewing for the past 5 years. It does appear that she mellowed a little bit when she was speaking to her mom.

Sid does owe Kelly a big explanation of his actions 5 years ago - and also a big apology. I just wonder whether Kelly will give him the opportunity to do so.

I hope she does - because she needs to let go of all the anger and move on for herself. Whether she forgives him, is another story.

That was great! It is interesting to see how Sidney stood up for Kelly when they were kids - that he could see that she could play and just needed a chance. Instinctively he understood that she faced many more obstacles in achieving her goals than he did and just wanted to help her any way he could. Pretty insightful for an 8 year old boy!
I guess that is why he did what he did when he left for Pittsburgh - it was his way of helping her reach her goals.

But I like Kelly - she is fiesty and strong - characteristics that I am sure she had to develop if she was to succeed as a hockey player. I like how you use the flashbacks to establish your characters' motivations. Seventeen years ago hockey was not as readily available to girls as it is today and she would have had to fight boys, leagues and maybe even her father to play the game she loved.

Now she is fighting Sidney - both literally and figuratively - the friend who deserted her, probably when she felt she needed him most.

Loved the update.... I think the way you did the flashbacks was great and you incorporated it so well into the story. I like the idea of the different points of view. Can't wait to read more.

I like the fact that she has a backbone - and that she isnt going to fall at his feet. Quite the contrary, I can almost feel the rage coming right off the page!

I like that you gave Sid's POV - so we know his motivation for ditching her. It may not have been the right thing to do - but he thought so at the time, and his intentions were good.

Although I dont think Kelly sees it that way!
