I have no idea how this came up, but I damn well loved this story. Star-crossed lovers. Confessing too late. Wrong time wrong place. I hope you are still considering a sequel...years from the time he opened up to her and she made clear that her "work" was her life.

I haven't finished reading this story yet but I love it so far! I'm curious as to why you decided to make Delia and her band from Victoria...

I'm so upset with this ending, but real life doesn't always have happy endings. Can't wait for the sequel!

I'm such a sucker for a happy ending that it took me a little while to realize that I'm okay with how you ended it. This was a great story and it's realistic to see that not every relationship ends with rainbows and unicorns. That being said, I hope Delia and Ben find their way back to each other in the sequel :)

Ouch, but, as you said, appropriate. Some things just can't end well.

Like you said, this was definitely the most appropriate ending. I loved it, and even though I knew it wasn't going to end well, I was still pulling for them to get together...which just makes me all the more excited for the sequel! Congrats on another beautiful story and I can't wait for whatever you post next!

I just absolutely love this story. Not everything is a happy ending. I like how the typical male/female roles were reversed in the relationship. It was really refreshing to see a different ending even though I was still thinking in the back of my mind it would be different.
I look forward to the sequel and anything else you write. It was a pleasure reading your story.

This was so amazing. The ending was pure perfection. I look forward to the sequel. I'm sure it will be equally amazing.

    WOW.
    Simply... wow!
While I was reading it I had one thought on my mind, and it was that while I won't enjoy it or even like it, the ending shouldn't be a happy one. So when I read "Fin", I had totally mixed feelings; on the one hand, I was amazed that you had the courage to end it where you did, but on the other hand I was super bummed hahaha
It makes sense, not simply because of the long distance thing, though I agree that just adds to the problem, but to the fact that Delia's life goals were clashing with his lifegoals, and while they work and they are totally cute, I think they could make it work in a few years, maybe once Delia wants to settle... which is something that might never happen, given the life she chose.
I'm not gonna lie, I would love a sequel with a happy ending, but I really like how this one did. Even if it breaks my heart hahaha.
Songwise, I totally caught the black heart reference, I've been listening to Black Black Heart SO much since you introuduced it into my life. Haven't heard the other one before, but it's really good.
That scene between Chris and Jal is interesting, but I really couldn't concentrate once I realized that Chris is Gendry in Game of Thrones. I'm a spazz :P
But maybe i SHOULD watch Skins after all, I'm alreadyhalf in love with Gendry as it is hahaha.
I like what you said in the extended notes about the fire and ocean floor colliding. I like that she makes her own decisions, and ultimately it's what I like this story, it feels very real.

As for the title... of course, of COURSE it was a song! I never really thought about it, but it makes so much sense haha. That accoustic version is awesome, though the album version is not bad. I think in this case, more raw the better. And it makes so much sense with the lyrics. It's a sad song, but hopeful... maybe like this writing? Maybe with the sequel we can hope for a happy ending? :P
If anything, the song made this chapter even more heartbreaking hahaha.

Empty Apartment is an awesome song (haven't heart it before), and it fits. And by the way, that part where he just goes to his room is I think the best of the whole chapter, for me. It was different and new, but still painful. I really liked that part. And yeah, the song is so fucking painful too.

You definitely didn't end up in a cliché. This is a good story, and it feels really life like.
I honestly can't wait for a sequel, though. Ben is SUCH a sweetheart, and his whole confession to Delia was so incredible. I honestly want him to be happy, fictional character that he is hahahahahaha

Anyways, congrats on the wrapping up of another story :)

You were right. This story didn't have a happy ending. I think most of us who read it wanted Delia to change her mind, or at least to the extent that she didn't completely give up on Ben.
    UGH. But YES sequel.

That was a very sad last chapter. I knew from the beginning that you said it wouldn't end well, but I was still hoping that somehow it would work out.

Reading this chapter made me very sad. I understand why they both made the decisions they made, but it still makes me sad. I really wanted Delia to realize how important Ben was to her, so she would follow him in the bedroom and talk with him further and consider trying to do long distance. It's not like they would be long distance the entire year since Ben has the off season. Maybe with a few months apart from Ben she'll realize it was a mistake to give up on the relationship without trying.

I look forward to the sequel and your other stories!

This was so good, yet so painful!
I'm so glad she realized that she fell for Ben, but it's also so heartbreaking.
I loved the first part, where she was kinda waiting for him only in a flannel shirt and nothing else.
And Ben is ALWAYS cute, the final part where he says he'll wait for her or that he understands... SO cute. She NEEDS to give in! :P
Also, I like how you portray the different aspects of sex, and how emotions can change it, sometimes.
I like the music, too. The Chain is really good. Dreams I'm a bit lukewarm, but I like it. I like the Augustanna version better, but I think the original one has more character and is ultimately better.... if that makes any sense at all hahaha.
As for Hey Ocean, since the VEVO link you left I wasn't able to watch (not available in my country), I listened to it on my own, and at first I didn't see any relation between Fleetwood Mac's Never Going Back and New Love, but then I heard the accoustic and you were totally right! Love the accoustic one, specially because her voice is so much better than in the album version. The album version has a great riff and intro, but the chorus i don't like at all. Anyways, great music!
As for Waster by I Am Avalanche... SO. GOOD. It's sort of cinematic. I think it goes really well with the chapter, with the feel of it. And the I'm Sorry I'm Leaving song... dude, now this chapter breaks my heart even more!
You can always intermix songs and writing SO perfectly!
I honestly don't know what I'm going to do next chapter, it'll be so painful :P
Anyways, this was really good, and I can't wait for more (and in a way, I'm glad I had too much work so I couldn't read this earlier, because now I'll hopefully won't have to wait so long...? Hopefully? Maybe...? Please? hahaha)

yeah, someone's going to get hurt. I love happy endings but I'm not sure how either one gets one without a world of pain first.

You did a fantastic job writing this chapter. As a reader, I could FEEL the difference in emotion between them and I found my heart breaking a little bit for the both of them just as Delia realizes she's in love with him, while resigning herself to the fact that she can't be with him without giving up her dreams.

When he suggested that they should be real for their last 7 days just broke my heart! And maaaan, she just lost her heart with that yes, even if she hasn't realized it yet ;)

Also, the song was totally amazing... AND you updated early. Maybe this is what Christmas feels like :P
