a) Thank you! That means so much!

b) I've honestly never really thought of it! I've always liked writing in past tense, it's kind of a habit. But I also find that it gives me more room to expand on things because there's a kind of retrospective perspective, if that makes sense. I think in a lot of interactions people just relay things as fact without being able to actually process and assess what is happening around them, but with past tense it feels more realistic for a first person narrative to recalling events that add to a story they already know the ending to.
There's one scene (in the hotel room the first time) that is in present tense (by mistake) because I got caught up in the moment, but past seems so much easier. It also gives her a kind of limited omniscient thing without being supernatural or unrealistic.

I'm actually really glad you asked that because I didn't realize I had so much reasoning behind that until I started thinking on it.

This is one of the best stories I've read on this site! I currently have a 7 month old, so it's been great to read all of the baby/parenting stuff going on. Having a baby is so life changing and makes things so hard, but I love how they've come out on the other side. I definitely love my husband more now then ever before. I'm sad that it's almost over with, but I'm so glad I started reading this story way back when! Great job!
