I can see her not wanting to tell anyone about some of the times in her life. I can see his pain though because she wouldn't tell him for the longest time. Everyones trust timeline is different I would suspect that definitely after a year everything would be out but shouldn't the knowledge that it was a battle with yourself and pressure be enough for a bit..

And yes Jon, guys are allowed to be huggers. I am from the midwest and have 3 older brothers, we were all raised as huggers.. friends family etc..
