Alive: I can't help but think how uncomfortable Daryl must be. That he is actively avoiding turning around, staying cooped up in his awkward position must be so incredibly painful. I move a lot in my sleep. If I didn't, I couldn't sleep. He must be determined! Or maybe Nora is just paranoid. Maybe he is actually sleeping and she is lying there thinking he is avoiding her. Crazy pre-girlfriend!
The story is progressing quite well I think. You don't have the same thing happening all the time, and though it is partially because The Walking Dead shows as a little bit of a guide, you still drive the story in your own way.
I'm interested to see what happens now that things are progressing a little quicker now. What happens when Randall is killed. Shane is killed. The changes that happens in the whole group. Even with Bentley. If he shows up, or if he is a dead end like Merle had been.
Ears: Horny little Nora! Haha! Too bad for Daryl's disturbing habit though! It baffles me what could possibly be going through Daryl's head when he sees his collection of ears, but more importantly I wonder whose ears they are. Are they random walkers? Are they worthy walkers? Friends? Family? Enemies? Still, its creepy, and Nora clearly had the right reaction. No matter how much you want sex, a line of rotting ears aint gonna get you anywhere!
And finishing off with his offer for her to stay in his tent.
Magnets: I find it absolutely perfect how you have intertwined Nora into the story. Each chapter is a reminder of little things that happen in the series even if she hasn't been there for it. Carol's comment, in particular, was amusing.
"Careful there Nora, he aint exactly daisies tonight."
That you had integrated this specific 'Daryl' moment and twisted it to suit your needs was so well done I was literally squealing and thinking OH MY GOD! THE REASON HE WAS ANGRY WAS BECAUSE NORA WAS GONE! It makes perfect sense in my head, and now if I ever watch The Walking Dead, I know I will always be looking for her.
It's funny seeing how you interpret Daryl's character. He is constantly hot and cold, just like how he is in the series. He's not just hot tempered, he is confused. He's finding his place in the world, and doesn't know how to go about doing it.
That he starts off with an asshole assumption that Nora chickened out and came scampering back is funny as hell because it's clear he is just glad she is back. As I said, he doesn't know how to go about finding his place, and it goes without saying that his feelings are included. He reacts to Nora in annoyance and teasing because he doesn't know how to handle a little crush.
BUT, that little comment he said just made me all smiles. FUCKIN BIG SOFTY!!
"Told myself I’d do that- if I saw ya again." Nawwwwwww, he actually thought about her! He actually promised himself to kiss her if he ever saw her! And he actually had the guts to do it! As awkward as he was!
YOU UPDATED!!!! yay life is complete again. Love them together in the forest. I also love your comment that Daryl made to her that is he would have seen her before the world went to shit that he would've tried to think of something to say and she would have just kept walking. He's still so fragile and guarded with his feelings about anything but somehow she can crack him. love it. PLEASE KEEP WRITING!!!!!
Awe! This chapter was so cute! You can really tell Daryl cares about her but he's being a stubborn ass and trying to pretend like he doesn't. And she's the same way. She cares about Daryl too but she doesn't want to be vulnerable so she's going to pretend she just hates him. These two... I swear. (There so cute, though. sjdfdhj I can't wait for the next few chapters so we can see how their relationship unfolds.)
You write brilliantly, by the way. You've got a style that's easy to read and I love how you keep the way they talk believable (this is Daryl Dixon).
