Sequel: The Forbidden Baby

Daddy's Little Doll.

My heart wishs just to know, what it's like.

When Marc came over I stayed quiet. He seemed happy to play with Maybell. I could tell she was happy too. I started on dinner and thought about leaving an extra place for him.

“What you makin’?” He said in an obvious fake southern accent.

“My mother’s famous spinach lasagna.” I started to our sauce over one layer. I felt his presence behind me and I continued to work.

“Sounds very yummy.” He said now appearing beside me.

“It is.” I said as he leaned against the counter.

“Can I have some after it’s done?” He asked.

“Sure, but you’re going to have to get it tomorrow. My father will be home soon.” I said feeling uneasy.

“Why can’t I stay for dinner?” He asked making me shrug.

“We usually don’t have company for dinner. It’s probably because after dinner he usually wants to-” I said before I caught myself. I cleared my throat and focused on making the lasagna again. He titled his head a little.

“Usually wants to do what?”

“Just… relax at home.” I said with a small smile. I think he was going to open his mouth to say something else but then we heard Maybell jar awake and start crying.

“I’ll get her.” I said leaving the kitchen. I went to my room and saw her lying down in the crib crying her little hazel eyes out. I thought about Dylan for a second as I picked her up bringing her downstairs to the kitchen. I put her in her highchair getting her a bottle.

“Peyton.” Marc said. I turned to look at him and couldn’t help but gaze into his toffee brown eyes. His hair had grown a bit since we had first met each other. Marc really was handsome. He had a mature look Dylan didn’t have.

“Yes?” I asked.

“Why did you have your first time with him? He seems so immature.” He said, I turned away from Marc and started warming up a pot of water for Maybell’s bottle.

“Did you ever think I was immature too? I let him have it didn’t I?” I said with a little malice.

“Peyton, I didn’t mean for it to sound like that.” I knew he hadn’t meant it to be like that but I couldn’t help but get defensive.

“I know.” I said letting the bottle warm up.

“The reason I let him was because he is really a nice boy. He cared about me a lot.” I said taking the bottle out checking the temperature.

“So, you are saying if I was there back then, you’d have loved me and not him?” I turned around and looked at Marc. His face was too serious. I forced out a small laugh.

“Mr. Rider, you sure like fairy tales don’t you? Thinking you’re a prince, swooping in to save the helpless princess.” The serious look melted from his face and he laughed running a hand through his hair.

“I’d prefer being a cowboy.” He said back with a less corny southern drawl. I smiled a little before hearing a car roll up the street. I looked at the time as I heard it parking. It was my father. Just to make sure I looked out the window and sure enough it was him.

“You have to go. My father is home.” I said already trying to push him out of the back door.

“I need my jacket and stuff.” He said as I finished pushing him out of the door.

“I’ll give it to you in a second just stay there.” I said then shut the door in his face. When my father came in he went upstairs to get changed. I ran into the living room and grabbed his things before running back into the kitchen.

“I’ll see you tomorrow for the food.” He said then gave me a quick hug. As he turning to leave he gave me a quick peck on the cheek. I was left shocked for the second time today. But when he left and I went back into the house I touched the place where he had kissed. I could feel myself smiling.

Then I found myself in panic when I realized that I left the stove on and the water was overflowing.
