How It Ends

Prologue
1 year earlier..

His eyes seared in pain as he pulled free of my grasp.

"Please." I whispered.

He only shook his head, and sheilded the downpour of rain from his face.

"Why are you doing this?" The words spilled out, aching to be heard over the rythmitic drum of rain on the sidewalk.

He shook his head again, and looked up at me.

"I have to go," he tilted my face up to his, curving his hand around my chin and kissed my cheek lightly.

"I'm sorry, Adelyn."

And then he was gone, revving his engine and speeding down my twisted driveway.
