Sequel: She Almost Left Me

The One That Got Away

It Was All a Little Bittersweet

You were the only face I'd ever known.
I was the light from the lamp on the floor,
And only as bright as you wanted me to be.
But I am no gentleman, I can be a prick,
And I do regret more than I admit.
You have been followed back to the same place
I sat with you drink for drink.
Take the pain out of love, and then love won't exist.

Everything we had, everything we had,
Everything we had, everything we had
Is no longer there.

It was the only place I'd ever known.
Turned off the light on my way out the door.
I will be watching wherever you go,
Through the eyes of a fly on the wall.
You have been followed back to the same place
I sat with you drink for drink.
Take the pain out of love and then love won't exist.

Everything we had, everything we had,
Everything we had, everything we had
Is no longer there, longer there.

Well, you saw for yourself, the way it played out.
For you, I am blinded.
For you, I am blinded, for you.

I am no gentleman, I can be a prick.
And I do regret more than I admit.
You have been followed back to the same place
I sat with you drink for drink.
Take the pain out of love, and then love won't exist.

Everything we had, everything we had,
(You have been followed, you have been followed.)
Everything we had, everything we had.
(You have been followed, you have been followed.)
Everything we had, everything we had,
(You have been followed, you have been followed.)
Everything we had...

I'll be with you wherever you go,
Through the eyes of a fly on the wall.

Danny only had one glass of wine; he wanted to drive her home himself. She's had the rest of the bottle, but was trying her hardest to keep herself composed. It made him laugh at her as she stumbled out of the car, tripping slightly. He walked her to Frankie's door, laughing with her as he carefully held her up.

They got to the door, and Lauren finally had something other than Danny to lean against. She recomosed herself, giggling tipsily at herself and looking up at danny with her huge blue eyes, smiling cutely.

"I had fun tonight," she grinned, adjusting how she was stood slightly.

"Me too," Danny whispered back, smiling.

Lauren's smile widened, and she stumbled forwards, falling on Danny slightly, but still kissing him so softly that he almost melted. Her arms slid slowly around his neck, her fingers twining in his hair, as one of his hands ran through her hair and down her face. Waves crashed inside them both, and fireworks seemed to explode above their heads.

Frankie watched through the curtains. He smiled; it had finally happened.

He walked through the door, dumped his keys on the table, and sighed heavily and happily. There was nothing, absolutely nothing, that could spoil that perfect night. It was a starfilled ending to the perfect day.

His phone rang.

"Hello?" he asked, unable to stop grinning.

"Danny," his mom said quietly, her voice shaking. "Your sister's been hit by a car."
