But It's Better If You Swear to Shake It Up.

Day-um!

Cali's P.O.V.

I watched Brendon walk out the door and sat back sighing. This was one of the stupidest things I have ever known him to do, and this is Brendon Urie I'm talking about. He was acting on compulsion and wasn't going to listen to anyone, not even me. I knew he was going to to something he was really going to regret. And knowing Brendon it he would probably end in he or Spencer getting hurt. And if he does something bad enough to ruin the band than the shits really going to drop. There's so many kids who would be crushed if that happened. They all look up to Brendon, Spencer, Jon, and Ryan- wait! That's it! Ryan could probably talk some sense into Brendon, I just needed to get him over there before anything happens.

I ran into the living room and grabbed the phone, glancing at Kara sleeping on the couch. I felt really bad for her, I couldn't believe Spencer could ever do that to her. Something wasn't right about it. I dialed Ryan's number when I got in the kitchen and sat back down on the bench listening to it ring. It was on the last ring when Ryan picked answered, but he sounded a little out of breath.

“Hello?”

“Hey Ryan, it's Cali. I need you to do something for me,” I told him.

“Now? Cali, I'm kinda busy,” He said and I heard a voice in the background.

“Fine, if you're too busy getting fucked to help your best friend, then whatever,” I said sighing.

“Wait, why? Is something wrong with Brendon?” He asked quickly.

“I don't have time to explain, just go over to Spencer's as soon as you can,” I told him and listened as I heard a zipper being zipped and rolled my eyes.

"Okay, I'm going. But I expect an explanation later."

"I'm sure you'll get one when you get there. 'Kay, bye," I said and waited for him to reply back before hanging up the phone. I got up and turned the stove burner off, figuring Brendon wouldn't be home by the time it was done anyway. I decided to take a quick shower and actually get dressed for the day. I walked upstairs and grabbed shorts out of my drawer and my favorite doodle drawn Fall Out Boy tee. I showered, got out, dressed, and pulled all my hair up in a messy bun. Then I walked down to the kitchen and grabbed a Dr. Pepper from the fridge. I was about to walk into the kitchen when I heard the soft strumming of a guitar and looked in to see Kara awake and sitting on the couch holding my guitar. I didn't recognize what she was playing until she started to sing:

"I spent most of last night dragging this lake
for the corpses of all my past mistakes
sell me out - the joke's on you
we are salt - you are the wound
empty another bottle
and let me tear you to pieces
this is me wishing you
into the worst situations
I'm the kind of kid
that can't let anything go
but you wouldn't know a good thing
if it came up and slit your throat

Woah
Woah
Ooo
Woah
Woah

Your remorse hasn't fallen on deaf ears
rather ones that just don't care
cause I know
that you're in between arms somewhere
next to heartbeats
where you shouldn't dare sleep
Now I'll teach you a lesson
for keeping secrets from me

Take your taste back
peel back your skin
and try to forget how it feels inside
you should try saying no once in a while
oh once in a while

Take your taste back
peel back your skin
and try to forget how it feels inside
you should try saying no once in a while
oh once in a while

And did you hear the news?
I could dissect you
and gut you on this stage
not as eloquent as I may have imagined
but it will get the job done (you're done)
every line is plotted and designed
to leave you standing
on your bedroom window's ledge
and everyone else that it hits
that it gets to
is nothing more than collateral damage

Take your taste back
peel back your skin
and try to forget how it feels inside
you should try saying no once in a while
oh once in a while

Take your taste back
peel back your skin
and try to forget how it feels inside
you should try saying no once in a while
oh once in a while"

Her voice was really soft and gentle, but it sounded irritated and pissed at the same time. When she stopped, she put the guitar down and turned around and noticed me for the first time.

"Sorry. I just woke up and there wasn't anyone around. It kinda calms my nerves to play," She said.

"It's okay. It sounded really good. I see Brendon's not the only one in the family who can sing," I told her and I noticed her blush a little.

"No, Brendon has the talent. I could never do what he does."

"Even so, you have a great voice."

"Thanks. The song just popped into my head and I couldn't get it out, so I thought playing it might help. I don't really think it did, but I feel better."

"Your really pissed, huh?" I asked her.

"I'm not pissed. I'm hurt more than anything, but I'm not mad," She said playing with the hem of her shirt.

"Really? Because usually when you sing a song like that, you're mad at someone. And there's only one person I can think of you being mad at."

"I guess. I just didn't imagine him to react like that. Or even question the baby's father."

"I know. But it will work out."

Suddenly there was yelling coming from the garage along with a loud banging noise.

"I think your brother is home," I told Kara getting up to unlock the door.

"Where'd he go?" She asked and I was about to tell her when the door was thrown open and in strolled Brendon and Ryan.

"Honey, I'm home!" Brendon yelled before he noticed I was standing right next to the door.

"I see that," I told him as he gave me a hug, then was followed by Ryan.

"Don't be mad at me," He told Kara and before she could question him on why, Spencer walked through the door nervously. Their eyes locked for a second, but Spencer looked away.

"Kara, can I, um, talk to you?" He asked after a minute.

"I guess so," She said after exchanging a pleading look with Bren. They left the room and walked up the stairs.

"And now if they don't kill each other, we'll be good," Brendon said relaxing on the couch.

"Are the noodles done?" I asked Brendon as I stirred the spaghetti sauce.

"I don't know, let's see," He said taking one out of the pot and throwing it at the wall.

"Brendon!" I said as he and Ryan laughed.

"It's sticking, so they must be done," Ryan said peeling it off the wall.

"Don't encourage him!" I snapped at Ryan this time unable to control my own laughter. That's when I noticed the huge red spot on the side of Ryan's neck. "Damn, Ry! What happened to your neck? Did you get attacked by a vampire?"

His face flushed a deep crimson as he tried to cover up the area with his hand.

"What are you talking about?" Brendon asked as he examined Ryan.

"I'm talking about the gigantic hickey Ryan has on his collarbone," I said moving Ryan's hand and showing Brendon.

"Day-um!" He said trying to poke it, making Ryan smack his hand away.

"Shut up! Like you've never had one before!" He said.

"Yeah, but-" Brendon started but was cut off my the phone ringing. He picked it up off the table and answered. "Hello?"

"Oh, hi! Peter, did you bite my Ryry?" He asked into the phone. Ryan just groaned and shook his head.

"Really? Yeah, of course! Okays, see you soon!" Brendon squealed over the phone before hanging it up. "That was Pete. He and Patrick are in town and they're coming over."

"Okay," I said.

"Yay!" He said running around the house.

"I swear, he gets way too excited when Pete comes," Ryan said watching Brendon.

"He loves Pete. Aren't you gonna be happy to see him too?"

"Yeah, but I'm not gonna attack him."

"I'm sure," I said hearing the door bell ring and Brendon scream slightly. I couldn't help but laugh as I walked in the living room to see Pete and Patrick standing there. It was going to be a fun night, I'll tell you that.
