Lonesome Dove

Lucy Graves' father was uprooting the family. Given the day and age, most everyone was doing some sort of uprooting--heading West towards Oregon on the Oregon Trail. But Lucy's is a different story.

Heading through Texas, a huge, tidal storm hits the wagon train. The wagon guide didn't know how to handle a storm of such epic proportions; and it isn't long until the train is lost. In the coming days, the storm continues onward. At last, a group of Texas Rangers ride through the storm and return the wagon train to its proper course.

Over the matter of a few weeks, Lucy falls for one of the Rangers--who promises her a life of freedom and adventure and a life as unpredictable as the tumbleweed. With this offer on the table, one decision drastically changes the course of Lucy's life. However, life with her Ranger is not a bed of roses. After all, the times are tough and the West is wild.

(based off of the Garth Brooks song "Lonesome Dove"--lyrics here. I'm not basing this off the book "Lonesome Dove" so I'm considering it Original Fiction)
