The X-Kid Army

Thousands of people everyday, just rushing right past each other. Never bothering to say hello, or excuse me, or even make eye contact for that matter. Occasionally they chat on their phones, or bark their order at a barista, but for the most part, they just ignore each other. Homeless people line the streets, begging for money, or maybe just an acknowledgement that they are also human beings. They usually don't receive it.

Max had been like that once, homeless. He'd been on the same street for months. Twenty people had stopped to give him money, twenty. In a city of 8 million people, only twenty had spared him a few bucks. Wealthy lawyers, business men, and doctors had walked by him, never even glancing in his direction. Well, things were different now. He was going to make them pay. Every last person in this damn city was going to pay.
