A Princesses Life

The road my carriage takes to the city Deena, is known for bandit raids. My best friend Emory and I sit in my carriage in silence too afraid to make a sound. I have six men on horses in my front and six men on horses in my back. The road is bumpy, the curtains on my window blocks out the wind and sound. It was a long road, Emory and I hold tightly to each other afraid of the bandits that may decide to go for us. We had been travelling for hours when, something in my stomach twisted, something bad was going to happen.
The road hit’s a pothole and my curtains open for a second and I can hear yelling and clashing of swords. My carriage begins to gain speed, what is going on, my mind races. I know exactly what’s happening, but my mind isn’t ready to comprehend it. Sitting in my seat I stay as still as I could manage. The pot holes making me bump around and hit the walls, “This is horrible!” my friend, Emory says after hitting her head on the roof of the carriage. All the sudden, it's as if I can hear the wheel crack and my carriage tips over and one of my curtains falls away, allowing me to hear shouting and then dead silence.
I dare not look out for fear of, the bandits. “What do we have here” a gruesome face pokes in, his face was masked in gooey mud. “Ahh” Emory and I let out a horrid scream. Laughing he pulls me and then Emory out of the carriage.
I only wear one precious jewel around my neck, it was worth much. My father’s word echoes in my head “Have enough for them to be satisfied, but not enough to harm you over the jewels.”
Looking around all thirteen men are dead, they had all been slaughtered. At least 20 bandits stand around, their faces all pasted in the mud. “What do you want?” I demand. I would not be a coward in front of them, I was not going to be weak “lovely ladies like you must have much more jewels” he says ripping the necklace off “Search the carriage” he directs to some of the bandits “Do you know who I am?” I say furious, hoping maybe after they would decide it was too much a risk. We were in the middle of the path, surrounded by nothing but trees and mountains, no civilization for miles. The forest and the animals were the only other company out here.
“You're both are very rich ladies” the bandit says cocking an eyebrow “I am Avryl Isabelle Marie Chantal your princess, I demand you let my friend and I go at once” the bandits start laughing, so much for my plan. “She serious!” Emory says yanking her arm away from the bandit who had taken hold of her. “Well boys were rich!” the bandit exclaims. “Who are you?” I demand not at all happy about our predicament. “Well my lady, I am Hank” he says sweeping a crooked bow “I do not enjoy your mockery, Hank.” Staring at him, I will for him to catch on fire. “My father will have you all beheaded” I shout, hoping to scare them again, Instead they laugh again “No he will not, he’ll pay a great sum to have you both back” a bandit in the crowd says. “Well let’s not stay too long in the open” another says. The leader I presume still has a tight grip on my arm and Emory is grabbed by another behind me. Our heads are covered with sacks and we are marched deep into the forest, my mind races of thoughts what might happen to us, where were we going and how did I get back. For an hour we walk twisting and turning until finally, I can hear laughter and smell the aroma of beer.
I refused to answer any question the whole time we had walked and remain silent when they removed are sacks and toss us into a tent. “Are you okay?” I whisper to Emory, as soon as we were left alone. “Yes” she whispers back “What are we going to do?” I ask “How would I know!” she demands “Keep your voice down” I say “Alright, we’ll think of something”
We sit in silence until a bandit comes to the tent “Your highness, my lord would like to see you” he sneers. Silent I get out of the tent and walk with the bandit, until we come to the largest tent. Which I’m guessing is the headquarters. “Sit” Hanks says when the bandit had left “I’d rather not” I say, remaining where I was “Fine. So how much do you think daddy will pay?” he ask questionably “He will not give you anything” turning he just smiles “Now princess you believe daddy would let his only daughter be killed?” My face goes pale “You are wicked and deserve to rot in a cell for the rest of your life” I says angrily. “You’ll write your father, saying the amount we want and that you are in great distress, or your lovely friend dies” he says a piercing gaze on me “Fine” I do not mumble , for he will not see the fear that is inside me. Sitting down I am placed in front of a paper, a quill and ink.

Dear Sir,
Emory and I have been captured in a raid you have two weeks to pay the debt or we are to die. A rider is to come to the castle with the letter, if he is harmed and does not return within two weeks, we’ll be killed. The rider will tell you the amount. Please make haste.
Love your Daughter,
Avryl

After writing what he said, I stand immediately “Cole” Hank shouts, a dark haired boy comes into the tent “Yes, father” he asks, his eyes on me. “Take the princess back to her tent” Cole grabs me by the arm lightly and walks me toward my tent, without a word I enter. Seeing Emory for some reason I hug her afraid of what these men were capable of.
