Fantasy Football

Football season is here, which means it’s time to create a fantasy football team! I am not a fan of football, but my boyfriend is, so in an attempt to become more interested in the sport, I joined his fantasy football team, and it has helped a lot! I will try to explain fantasy football as best I can, but it is a fairly difficult thing to understand.

How Fantasy Football Works

Each fantasy football league is made up of different teams. Anyone can make a fantasy football league, so there are thousands. Each league will have different members that get to make their own teams. The teams are made up of players that the team’s new owner picks, and the players don’t all have to be from the same team. The fantasy football team’s players get points for the different things they do during the real game. Whoever’s teams end up with the most points get to go to the playoffs, and from there, whoever has the most points is the winner.

Setting Up a Team

Fantasy football teams are set up on draft day, which is selected by the members of your fantasy football league. The number of players allowed is set up by the members of your league, and on draft day, the members take turns selecting different players. I am not an expert on setting up a team by any means. I usually pick my players based on who has the coolest names, but you will want to pick your players based on their statistics.

Keeping Track of Points

Your league will designate how much each real life maneuver is worth in your fantasy league. For example, your league may decide that each touchdown a player makes is worth six points in the league, and each successful pass is worth one point. You will want to keep track of each of your players and the points they earn each week.

Deciding a Winner

The winner is chosen during a mock set of playoffs, where the top teams from your league compete in a final test of their ability. The points still rally the same, and the winner is chosen based on the number of points gained during the playoffs alone.

Hopefully, fantasy football will become a passion you enjoy and help ignite your fire for the game!
