Killjoys; Gerard Way's New Comic

Killjoys; Gerard Way's New Comic At Comic-Con International, Dark Horse announced that Gerard Way will be working on a new comic series called Killjoys. Also on Scott Allie's twitter account, he posted "Just announced Gerard's new book Killjoys. T-shirts on sale at DH booth. Buttons for free." Earlier this year in April the man himself (Gerard Way) had posted a tweet saying, "Next comic after Umbrella Academy is going to be awesome. Very different..."

As Gerard had explained in an interview with CBR, Killjoys will be "a complete and total departure from anything I've [Gerard] done in Umbrella Academy." Being like an ode to the great 90's comics, Killjoys will deal with mature and controversial themes, such as hate crimes, homophobia and the homogenization of American culture and American life. Because it is more violent and deals with much stronger themes, it holds a mature readers title.

Way won't be the only one working on it, however. It is being co-written with Shaun Simon and will include illustrations by Becky Cloonan, Vasilis Lolos, and Gabriel Ba's twin brother Fabio Moon.

Debuting in 2010, it will definitely be something different than The Umbrella Academy. Not much else has been said, but Gerard had said, "I don't want to give everything away about 'Killjoys,' I want to give it a fair shot."
