Wow. I'm quite new here and haven't really done much reading yet, but I had no idea that this was going on. I spend most of my time of ff.net and the same thing goes on there, but mainly bashing slash. I had no idea people bashed het fics as well!
I love your article. Well done.

I didn't even know people did that :/
I've never seen someone saying that they hate the female characters or hate het. But then again, it's not like I've read every story on here.
    But good article (y)

    I agree.
If they don't like it then don't read it.
And no one cares about your opinion on it so don't waste your breath or time typign up a paragraph about how shitty it is.
Your wasting you time doing it.

I agree with everything you said in this article. If people don't like a certain genre, don't read it, and don't flame people's stories. I'm positive that those people wouldn't want their stories disrespected in that way.

    thanks for writing this.
    i agree whole-heartedly.
    people shouldn't bash people's stories because they're homo/heterophobic.
    it's just stupid.

I completely agree. I hadn't noticed this problem going on here, but I've noticed it elsewhere and I always hate bashing of any kind. My philosophy is simple: "Don't like, don't read."

    I love you.

    THANK YOU!!

Written very well, and the issues you bring up are very well thought out. Other than that, I am totally with you on the hipocracy and the sexism of it all. I think I'm gonna cry. . . .

I agree with everything you said but het really isn't my thing. I'll read it sometimes but I prefer slash. When it comes to sex scenes I would rather read girlongirl or guyonguy. For some reason, I really can't read straight sex scenes. I'm actually subscribed to a het story but then again, it isn't sex all the time.

But I do agree with your article. :]

Wow. I agree with 99.9 % of what you stated in this article.
I write hetero stories but I've written a few with gay characters. And every once and a while if I find a good slash, I'll try and read it.

i disagree. you don't have to experience sex to write good sex scenes. i think if you read enough, you can pull it off. and slash is a guy with another guy. femmeslash is a girl with another girl.

okay, I dont write het, because I'm not good at it. I believe that you would have had to experience sex to write about it well, so I just kinda gloss over it, but its still obvious my characters had sex. But I, being a writer and not so much of a reader on this site, dont really know what slash is, could someone tell me?

I know of some really good Het on this site. Besides tbh...sex is sex...it involves dicks and vaginas and its gonna be a little gross. Why complain about reading about things that have been normal since the dawn of time?

Nice article. I like all types of stories no matter the couple or sexual orientation. All a good story needs is a good plot and storyline. It makes me happy just seeing that in the long run. I'm not much of a fanfiction type of girl, but hey, if you do, good for you.

    ;)

I don't like het. I never have, and probably never will. I don't have a problem with people who DO like het, it's just that most of the stories on here are badly written anyway. Not all of them, but the majority of them. And most of them involve some fan girl getting all googly eyed over the Jonas brothers or something. It just kind of puts me off het altogether. I know it can be the same with slash - as in, slash can be just as badly written - but somehow a badly written girl annoys me so much I just don't read het.

But I do know what you mean. Good article.

For the record I can't read het sex scenes, at all. It just grosses me out. I mean, I'm straight and I just don't like the idea of het because it's like reading about what's going on in my bedroom, you know what I mean?

"i almost get the impression that
people who say that are also saying that all hetrosexual
    people are poor writers."

How does that make sense? Hetrosexual people write slash too, so that would be very hypocritical for anyone to think.

saying all hetrosexual stories are poorly written
is so degrading. i almost get the impression that
people who say that are also saying that all hetrosexual
    people are poor writers.

it doesnt matter if youre a good writer or not.
i think its great that they even have an interest in writing.
