I love the article :]
I personally do love Burton's stuff and I do act weird and random...but I know it isn't ''unique'', because so many other people do the same. I just do it 'cause I want to.
I know that there's some girl out there, wearing the same exact thing? <----um, disregard that random question mark. Sorry for the double post.
I definitely think I'm a weird girl, but I know there are many, many, MANY people who are just as weird as me. Hell, I've met people who could've been clones of me (as in same music tastes and interests). People think they're so unique cuz they have pink in their hair, or shop everyday at the Salvation Army and refuse to listen to the radio. But there are soooooo many people who are just like that! The way anybody dresses is not that unique, either. Right now I'm wearing a black tank top and black and blue Happy Bunny pajama pants with black slippers. I know that there's some girl out there, wearing the same exact thing? Does that bother me? No way. It's to be expected. The way a person is truly unique is if they don'tsuccumb to trends, don't TRY to be unique, and most importantly, are themselves. Those are the ones who ARE truly unique, but even if someone is dressed the same exact way with the same hairstyle, every person is unique in how they act and think, as your article stated.
I hate girls who talk about how original they are when they like the same bands, same movies, same shows as everyone else. I think I am pretty unique. Why? Cuz I don't try to be. I just do what I like, dress how I want, and be who i Wanna be, and say, "Screw You!" to anyone who wants to change me. That's true uniqueness.
Heheheh. I liked this quite a bit. It stated what I've been seeing for quite some time.
People trying to be odd and quirky but failing because they're too afraid to fall too far out of what's a fashionable amount of weird.
Silly little multi-colored sheep.
I don't think uniqueness is truley the trend, because all the trendy kids who say they're unique are just one in a clones of themselves. I'd say THINKING you're unique is the trend. Come on, how many of those scene kids out there that say they're unique are vastly different from any other scene kid?
Yeah, I'll have to agree with you on that- but no one is unqiue from everyone else. Everyone fits in somewhere. Its not if your mainstream or not--its if you enjoy the group your in.
Individuality contradicts itself, in a way. Everyone tries to break away from the group, but then they all just become part of another different group again.
This article was well written, I loved it. Especially that last paragraph. We are all unique, but it's not because of what we wear or what we like - it's who we are.
I agree everyone tries to be unique now but now being unique is COOL. So how exactly are we unique if were all trying to act weird. But if we become the usual old sterotype were boring and not conforming to the latest trend or style.
