I have to 100 percent agree with you. I mean she killed herself because of something she started. I don't see the kids who killed themselves getting attention like she has. Some kids didn't do anything to the people but still got bullied.

Amanda had sex with someone else boyfriend of course that's going to start bullying. I mean it's sad she killed herself but flashing someone you don't know.

I think there is a lot of blame to go around, really, and I agree with you in saying that yes, part of that blame does go onto this child.

The fact of the matter is that there are creepy people on the internet who go after young children. It's not nice to think about or to accept, or to even think that your child might be a victim of it, but you should make them aware of it and do everything you can to prevent it. I therefore think a lot of the fault does go on the parents, due to points that have already been raised (like a 12 year old not needing a webcam).

It's the same thing with the issue of women walking alone at night (mentioned in the comments). No they shouldn't have to worry about being raped if they do that, but the fact of the matter is that it happens. It happens, just like pedophiles on the internet happens, so you have to be cautious. Everyone needs to be educated about it, and we need to try and prevent it, since society is flawed. The internet will never be completely safe, nor will the streets at night. It's just the way life is.

I see your point, I really do and I agree.

But how could it have been avoided in the very first place? The parents should have told her the risks of internet safety. The parents should have been monitoring what sites she was going on and what she was doing. We are talking about a 12 year old using a webcam to talk to strangers, WTF?

I know this is the age of technology but why in the world does a 12 year old have a webcam, who does she seriously talk to on the internet to have a webcam? Her parents should have known better.

However, the online bullying spread to IRL since the picture was spread to everyone, instantly infecting her daily life as well. And no, in no way is it "only" online. That can be just as devastating and it's not even a little easier ignoring what someone says about you just because it's online.

I didn't say it was easier, but the situation could have been handle differntly since it was only online. All you have to do is turn off the computer and ignore anything anyone has said about 'you'. It's a mental thing, so what if that girl thinks I'm ugly? So what if that boy says I'm fat?

Someone later in life isn't going to think those things. Plus, half of the time when everyone gets out of highschool everyone gets fatter. Not to mention girls get more 'curious' with any partners after highschool because they have more freedom and they aren't being scrutinized by their highschool peers.

So what? Parents need to be more involved with their children. Clearly with this case that is what people need to learn. Parents need to get it together and have more control of their children and make them aware of all and any risks.

I've been online bullied as well as in real life bullied. And in no way is it easier to control or hinder online bullying.

Guys, the personal jabs need to stop. It's fine to have a lively discussion, but discuss each other's opinions, and don't make personal attacks. I'll reitterate the fact that this blog does NOT break Mibba's rules and Raoul Duke is perfectly allowed to express an opinion, unpopular or otherwise.

Yes, I AM angry, and yes, I AM quitting. Know why? Because I love Mibba, and I'm not going to get in trouble over the likes of a blog I don't agree with, and opinions that make me feel like shit. There's a way to debate, and then a way to get everyone riled up much like you've done.

    And yeah, pretty far.

Were you bullied on the internet? School bullying is hard to handle, but on the internet that's different. Sure her intimate parts are in it forever but her profile could have been deleted sooner than later. Her parents could have told her, "No more internet!"

And why on earth would this person know her address? How did he get it? If she gave out her information to a total stranger that goes to show her ignorance. Of course, she was 12 most of us were ignorant.

But I never gave out my address, which again comes into play with the parents. Why wasn't she aware of the internet risks? Why didn't her parents tell her not to give her information out to strangers? Why didn't she know that at all? That is horrible. That her parents didn't educate their child about stranger danger, or she was too ignorant to listen to her teachers at school?

But, I'm not Canadian so I have no idea if they even do that at their schools.

If you feel her comments to be bashing you should report them and not mock her.

How far, do you say? Feeling that it's okay to attack others for having their own opinons? You should certainly mature a little, learn how to control your temper and accept that other people have different opinions. Do you really think you're going to get anywhere in life by resorting to bashing, in a sense, and then quitting because you've grown to angry? I was hoping for a simple debate, not snide remarks that are really bashing comments.

Snide remarks aren't going to get you anywhere in life. You should learn how to control your temper and accept that there are opinions other than yours.

Gee Bella, I dunno how we were so dumb. We should've clearly known we'd be bullied. Why, gosh, I feel so silly now!

And young lady, don't let me ever see you outside alone or else I'll call your mother! Ranting

Now you're saying it's a woman's fault if she's raped while walking home alone? Seriously? That's horrible.

If a woman doesn't consent and is forced, it's not her fault. I don't care if it's her husband on their wedding night and she has seduced him. If she says "no" then that's that. It is never someone's fault if they're raped. Ever.

    End of.

So here's what I've taken from all of this: being bullied and harrassed is okay. As someone who was bullied in her life, I now realize this was my fault.

Also, I, as a woman, should in no way, ever, walk around outside alone, whether it be day or night. So I guess I'm not going outside anymore. Thank God for WiFi! Now I have something to do without spending meaningless hours outside, where I clearly don't belong alone.

Ooooh, I know! Maybe if I ever do go outside with someone else, I'll let them put me on a leash. Just to be safe.

    Thanks guys! :)
That's pretty much what I got from this too. It's my fault I've been bullied all my life and it's my fault I was sexually abused.

    @ Raoul Duke
I believe I'm expressing my shock and astonishment that anyone, especially a woman, would have such a hateful opinion on other women.
