I usually go for the NC-17 rating, mostly because that means I can give myself complete ability to write whatever I want, be that everything from sex to a day at the fair.

I like to write PG-13 or R. My characters, because I use it so often when I talk, curse a lot, and the amount depends on the story.

I just know I can't usually write beneath PG-13. I haven't written anything much that was even remotely kid-friendly in- shit I don't know when. XD I generally write PG-13, but sometimes R. I haven't written NC-17 yet, but I'm starting to wonder if I'll get there eventually.

PG-13. It's a nice, round rating, and it's what I watch most in movies. So.. yeah. The extent of sex in my story is usually cuddling/light foreplay, and then everything just kind of fades to black. XD I'm not comfortable writing/posting actual sex. lmfao I don't know why. My characters don't curse that often, either, and I can't write good violence... so.. yeah! PG-13, ftw. tehe

I'd like to say R but lately it's been PG-13. This thread reminded me that I need to throw more cursing into the story. Sheesh.

Usually the stuff I write ends up being rated PG-13 or R. I don't tend to write NC-17 cause I'm not good at writing sex scenes that involve sex, so yeah XD But I tend to deal with much darker themes, so I usually have to give them R. My main characters usually are anti-heroes, so they swear a lot, have drug use, aren't exactly the most abstinent of people, etc. Usually when I write romance, though, it gets rated PG-13 cause it's not that dark of a theme, but then there's the language that I always involve because that's just how I think my characters would talk. Honestly, though, I think most of the stuff I write wouldn't shock too many teenagers, but I usually put the R rating on it just to be safe XD

I automatically go at least PG-13, even if some stories don't have swearing or violence. They're just disturbing sometimes, with themes I don't want kids reading.

I actually prefer to write NC-17, but when you look at the ratio I write, it's lower than my other ratings.

I tend to write more PG-13/R. And I prefer writing R to PG-13.

And I think that's just because I like these mature/adult themes. Not even sex. And to me, when I see PG-13 (not on anyone else's fic, btw, just mine), I feel like it reads young, like it will have all these teenager elements.

^Yeah it's strange isn't it? Sometimes I can't really outright tell what's explicit about something, even without the usual suspects like obscenity or violence, but it's just there and to be safe I rate it higher than it normally would be lmfao

Well, I wrote this 28 world drabble the other day.
It has no swearing, no sex, no drugs, nothing.
But it's not G because of what it means.

^Yeah, I get that. Somehow I don't want children reading my stories about losing things because I don't think it's something you can really comprehend and it's just. I don't know. Wrong to taint their innocence so subtly like that.

I guess the lack of innocence is what makes it rate higher? Shifty

I prefer to have my writing PG-13. It's not because I'm like this "if you write about sex then you're going to hell" kind of person. It's just that. . . well. . . I'm not that old or mature or anything of the sort and I believe I have it in me to appeal to a younger audience because of that.

When I'm older, I probably will be able to write more. . . grown-up themes and what-not but right now, I'm happy entertaining whoever enjoys my writing.

    R. I don't usually write sex, and even if I did, it wouldn't be explicit. Mainly because I'm so inexperienced with sex (virgin for life), and even if I were experienced, I wouldn't write it down. It's just something that's private. However, I do like to cuss and write character suicides. Death fascinates me as a write and the reactions to death are just as fascinating. Eating disorders also fascinate me. The need for control, balancing every meal... denying it even though it's so obvious... I'm just a twisted individual who is fascinated by death, decay, and the darker points of life.

i tend to write either R or NC-17, because i don't want to limit myself. if i'm writing a story and i feel a sex scene is necessary, i can add it without having to change the rating and all that.

also, i like to curse a lot and make lots a sexual jokes and references throughout my stories, and i don't want to offend any 12 year old girls.

I prefer R or NC-17, mainly because it gives me the freedom to do pretty much anything with my writing. I prefer dark themes, drug use, sex, and violence, all of which probably aren't appropriate for anyone under the age of 13.

I prefer R, because it gives me the freedom to swear as much as I want and be a little smutty. I can't write proper smut, I've made attempts at it but I'm not too good at it. I love reading it, though Happy face

Well, since this post not much has changed, except I think I typically write more things that are at least R, and I have written several NC-17 things.
