I'm with everyone else - I don't like this idea at all.
At least post counts had some relevance - how active someone was on the boards.
But this is just like... who posts an article. And you can't see the count on the profiles or stories, only on the boards so it makes more sense to have a postcount for the boards.

Plus, 'points' makes it sound much more like a competition.

I don't really have much of an opinion on this, really. I didn't exactly have loads of post counts, but this points thing sounds okay. I do think that it may benefit certain people rather than everyone, though...

This is one of the only changes that I don't like.

    Sorry.

I don't know if I like this or not yet.
    1) I don't do articles. Over half the time, they're silly and not very helpful or whatever they were even there for in the first place.
    2) I don't know if I would ever get points anyway with my writing.
I don't know, it just all sounds a little iffy.
I never did care too much about the posts count anyway.
    *shrugs* I just don't know.
I don't want to have to leave Mibba too because of it's weirdness all of the sudden..

I really don't like the idea.

When the points can be awarded to authors of stories, the only authors getting points will be the ones who write Twilight or Jonas Brother fan fiction. It might influence people to read stories of lesser quality.

Plus, it will change writing here into a competition. Writing isn't meant to be competitive. I much prefer the relaxed style we have now.

I'm not sure how much I like this idea. Most users don't write articles so how are we supposed to get points?
And getting points from people reading your stories? I don't know...
I usually love your ideas but I'm iffy on this one =/

Oh, and the people that already have more than 100 points I don't think can say much about it.
    THEY HAVE POINTS! :\

I think this could be a good idea, but then again, it could really be bad, too.

Like, people just start writing articles about a bunch of crap. Honestly, the last thing I need is a bunch of annoying articles taking up the Mibba homepage.

And second, not a lot of people write articles. This is really only for those who do.

Some of us may have tried writing articles before, but sometimes it's just not our thing.

And Audrey T. is right. It does state that right now it's only for articles, but later it will be for other things, too. So maybe then it will benefit us a little more.

    But right now...

    Just...

    Okay.

I read the link that led to Audrey T.'s topic on this new point system. It does sound interesting but confusing at the same time. But exactly were "post counts"?

    Curiosity.:
I think having both of them would be better. Think
I think so too. I use post counts as a indicator to how 'experienced' on the site a user is. Someone with a higher post count would have to be on the site for longer, and would know more about how it works.

Whereas points tell you nothing about how long they've been there.

It's a good idea, i guess, but not for Mibba, Dujo. I much prefer seeing the post counts than the points. Also, it seems like it'd become too competitive between users. Sad

Competition is wonderful. Everyone enjoys a bit of it. It would be nice to have a lot more ways to get them though. Than just being given them by your peers. Some people on Mibba do not have many friends or readers. In this case, how would they get points?
    How would they earn them?
Especially if they just stalk the forums and post on there.
Could we not earn like 20 points when we post a certain amount of times?
like we did with the Posts?
