Out of curiosity, can I ask why? tehe I don't personally care either way, but I've never heard much of an argument against Katniss before.

    Bella Swan.
    Nora Grey.
    Patch stupid-first-name Ciriano.
    Ginny Weasley.
    Peeta Mellark, to an extent.

...Actually, now that I think about it, I don't like Katniss very much either XD At least in Mockingjay. She pisses me off there.

Katniss. Blargh. She's not my least favourite, but her treatment of Peeta annoys the crap outta me. I happen to have a serious soft spot for that boy. I wish Katniss had tried to deserve him, or even just want to, but it never ended that way. It's like they just fell together in the end because it was easy. And my headcanon is that every now and again he still thinks she's a mutt.

I actually don't really like Katniss, either. For me (since I've just finished the 1st book) it's just her overall personality that's unappealing. She's so negative and unfriendly. It's like she doesn't make a real effort to live. She's full of hate (mostly understandable), and she's like that person we all know who dislikes people without a legitimate reason. I have a hard time connecting with her, and I honestly feel like she's a slightly more developed and extremely badass/independent and asexual version of Bella Swan. As of now, Katniss Everdeen is my least favorite Hunger Games character.

Miles 'Pudge' Halter from Looking for Alaska. Like, I love the book, I just don't like him. He reminds me very much of one of my friends, who has to be the most frustrating person I know. Like, I empathise so much with Alaska and the Colonel. They seem way more, "Shut up, deal with it, get over it". I like that. Pudge to me, just doesn't seem to have much of a backbone.

Ginny Weasley - No person is as perfect as she's made out to be.
Bella Swan - all the personality of a dry sponge.
Edward Cullen - creepy and possessive.
Jacob Black - just as possessive as Edward.
Frodo Baggins - I can't explain this one, I just hate him.
Sirius Black - a bully who needs to realise that Harry is not a reincarnation of James.

there's hundreds more, my mind is just gone blank at the moment, haha.

Living in a world like the world Katniss lives in you're bound to be negative and unfriendly. It's a case of having to be to survive; if you wear your heart on your sleeve and are always optimistic in Panem you're bound to be eaten alive.

From a series that I actually like? Angel from Maximum Ride. She's a little bitch who gets everything she wants just because Max goes all "Little girl needs everything she asks for!" whenever Angel is around. Plus Gazzy loves her so much and I have a massive soft spot for Gazzy, and yet she still betrays them or still whines and it just makes Gazzy think he hasn't done his job of caring for her. I also despise Dylan more than I can even express. I just hate him.

And I didn't have a problem with any original Percy Jackson series characters, but I hate without reason all the new characters and I wanted to strangle Percy for turning so Roman.

The thing I dislike about Katniss is her treatment of Peeta and Gale. I can understand how her attitude can be perceived as negative, but like fistfights said, if you lived in a place like Panem, you wouldn't be too cheery either. tehe I feel like Katniss went through a lot of crap and lost so much, so by the time the series ended I just felt really, really bad for her.

Since we're on the topic of The Hunger Games, I disliked President Snow. A lot.

Having feelings and being optimistic doesn't mean you'll be "eaten alive," it just means you have hope for something better. I understand why Katniss is the way she is; I know that she pretty much shut out everyone when her father died, but it still irks me that she couldn't have an ounce of sympathy for her mother who lost the man she had changed her life for. I understand that living in a world where your government thinks you no better than scum will harden people and make them bitter, we've seen that throughout history. But Katniss is beyond just being bitter, she hates unsparingly and jumps to conclusions without getting the facts. That isn't someone I like or would want to be around. Bitterness doesn't help anyone or anything.

What makes it harder for me to like her is that she isn't that tortured soul who is bound to change or find happiness. We get to see how angry she is because it's 1st person, and it's off putting for her character to be so angrily candid.

Bella Swan, Dolores Umbridge, The Carrows, Julia from "Prey," Ellie from "Jurassic Park," Erika in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," Wendy from "The Shining," and basically any character in "The Scarlet Letter" (but I'm biased... I hate that book with a passion)

I'm having trouble liking most of the characters in Wuthering Heights, but I especially loath...
Linton Heathcliff - He's so whiny and pathetic, just reading about him makes me want to tear out the page.
Catherine Earnshaw/Linton - She's so goddamn manipulative, the way she treats both Edgar and Heathcliff and just expects them to be okay with it and to love her unconditionally.
And finally Heathcliff.....He's just such a bad person all the twisted evil things he's doing in this book, I feel nothing but hate towards him and my teacher is getting really pissed off, especially because of my dislike of Catherine. She's like "Omg how dare you hate a character from classic literature!"

Oh and I think every character in Twilight.

Katniss Everdeen, so far. She just... Seems so angry, and I don't like that.
Peeta Mellark. I just, eh, he seems too nice so far.
Ginny Weasley and Lavender Brown. Ginny's a fangirl who ends up being stunningly perfect in the end. And I never liked Lavender. Her whole "Won-Won" thing got annoying very fast.
I didn't really care for Stark in the House of Night series. There's just something about him.

    ... Yeah.

Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games) - She was protective, one who could love fiercely (non-romantically), and yes, she had emotions. But she was also angry, irritating, ridiculous, and I found it very difficult to pity her. She stomped all over the male characters and took independence to stupidity. She made so many awful decisions that I couldn't tolerate her.

Bella Swan (Twilight)- Bland, tasteless, ridiculous, unrealistic, a total anti-Sue and a Mary Sue all at once, and just cliché as well as tacky. She was stubborn, had no personality, and did absolutely nothing worthwhile.

Ever Bloom (Evermore) - Need I say more? Not only is her name a clue to her Mary Sueness, but all she does is reject Damen the entire first book and then falls in love with him three quarters to the end. She's depressed, snotty, catty, whiny, nosy, and worst of all, she doesn't listen to anyone. Each and every single person that warned her not to do something, she did it, and then got butthurt and ridiculously whiny when it backfired. She's predictable and a stock 'heroine'.

Massie Block (The Clique) - She's a rude, obnoxious, jealous, stupid, attention-whore of a pre-teen. She was unlikable and I didn't pity her once during the entire series. She was ridiculously dramatic and spoiled, who thrived off of other people's suffering.

Vee Sky (Hush, Hush) - At first, she was hilarious, sharp, quick-witted, and a huge comic relief in the first book. However, she soon turned into a whiny, unsupportive, spoiled, crude, awful, nasty bitch. She became selfish to the point of ridiculous, and was incredibly shallow.

Juliet Capulet (Romeo and Juliet) - She was a stupid, temperamental teenage girl who throws logic to the wind and is willing to throw everything away for Romeo. She's the original Bella Swan, only with more money and more personality.

    Males

Romeo Montague (Romeo and Juliet) - He's the epitome of a Gary Stu. He was depressed, whiny, dramatic, and rushed everything. He didn't think clearly once during the play and would drop everything for Juliet. The original Edward Cullen, only dumber, non-vampire, and more vengeful.

Friar Lawrence (Romeo and Juliet) - He was everything a friar should not be. He helped the titular characters lie and deceive other people as well as encourage them to go behind everyone's backs and suggest methods of trickery to get Romeo and Juliet out of trouble, mainly to save his own rump.

Mr. Mellark (The Hunger Games) - He was weak-willed, and quite simply, allowing his wife to wrongly beat his children without intervention made me lose a lot of respect for him. I hated Romulus Thread, but he had a reason for being cruel (he was a Capitol man); what was Mr. Mellark's excuse?

Edward Cullen (Twilight) - Creepy, controlling, obsessive, possessive, wimpy, and other various things, he was a Gary Stu to the point of insanity. He never let anyone defy him and got frustrated easily when people had other view points. He whined a lot and had an unbelievable amount of self-loathing that I simply can't stomach.

James Potter I (Harry Potter) - He was a rude, vile, nasty, vicious, wicked, egotistical, arrogant bully and a complete tosser. He lacked respect for other people and he never grew up. He was an immature brat who rarely cared for other people.

Odysseus (The Odyssey) - He was a horrid, unfaithful man with a temper to boot. Not to mention, he was arrogant and selfish. He whined about wanting to go back home, yet stopped at a bunch of different places along the way for no reason other than curiosity. He can't really make up his mind.

I know it said character, but there are plenty of characters to loathe and I abhor all those listed above, though on different levels.
