The Definition of "Slut"

  • Could somebody please quote the other post so everybody else knows what's being discussed.

So what you're saying is that your opinion changes by thread? Or that you only debate certain aspects of your opinion in a thread? You said it. You either believe that or you don't.
I'll only debate something in a thread if I've said it in a thread. I don't drag threads through to other threads. If you'd like to comment and discuss with me something I've said in a previous thread, then we can go there to that actual comment and discuss it. My original comment had nothing to do with the reply you gave to it.

  • Also, going to re-throw my definition of a 'slut' out there.

My definition of a slut has been heavily influenced by the people around me and the way I've been raised. I don't truly know the definition of a slut... I've got no idea because everyone's definition differs. I define a slut as being someone who dresses extremely tacky (skimpy clothes, highly revealing) and flaunts their body about as if it's indestructible. I find continuous one stands to be slutty too. This of course doesn't mean that if someone wears a bikini, their a slut in my books.

Hmmm, still struggling with a good definition.

  • I think a slut has nothing to do with how you dress but how you carry yourself and act. You can dress 'trashy' but that doesn't make you a slut and just because you wear baggy pants and sweatshirts doesn't mean you're not the type of girl to sleep around.

I don't debate that way. On Mibba it's perfectly allowed to bring up something from another thread into the thread you're in. Because it's how you call someone out on their inconsistencies, like this case.

If I denied my past opinions then it would be the case. No where did I state I changed my opinion.

What you said somewhat contradicted your opinion from before. I mean, you are saying you don't have a right to not stop a woman from being a slut. But you also think that just a woman going out and looking to get laid is a slut.
    Robert Pattinson:
My definition is someone of a slut is someone who goes out looking for the sex, who has one night stands, who brags about it to any listening ear, etc,.
So, basically, what you're saying is "you can have sex, but you're still a slut". Right?
    April 13th, 2011 at 07:39pm
  • Saying that I have no right to stop a woman acting slutty and giving my definition of a slut, isn't contradicting myself. It's two different things. The first is me not caring how much sex they have, the second is me giving my definition of a slut.

I wouldn't personally call someone a slut, but if they fall into the criteria I've understood to be slutty, then obviously in my books they're considered slutty. It's not a case of you can have it, or you can't. I don't care if they have it, i just think for bragging, one night standing all the time, having no other intentions but to flaunt the body about, that it is slutty to me.

Not to be assumed that one night stand makes you a slut. More to me, it's constantly picking up people, every weekend, as if revolving their life around it purely.

Well, what you said was someone who goes out looking for sex is a slut. Which would mean if a girl goes to the club and wants to get laid, she's being a slut. Using your definition.

Just curious if you use the same definition for guys, or if you think a guy having a lot of one-night stands isn't as big of an issue as a female doing it.

Using my definition yes, it would mean that because that's what I consider to be slutty. Same goes for a guy being a man whore in my books. I think girls need to be far more careful though in the one night standing that their doing, with the amount of pregnancies I've seen arise this year alone I wonder if girls remember at all that they can get pregnant.

I agree that people should be smart when it comes to sex. I do think the statement is a little sex. Maybe guys don't remember girls can pregnant either. But one can have a lot of sex and still be safe.

Guys probably do forget, but I think that woman need to be more careful because they can/will get pregnant, where as the guy might just bail out on them, leaving them one parent down. Not to be assumed, all men are the same.

I don't think anyone forgets, just to clarify. I just think people stop worrying at same point and develop the 'it won't happen to me' mentality. Or they have their facts on how one gets pregnant wrong because of the twisted way they're taught sexual education. Facepalm

I just don't think a woman having a sexual healthy appetite and going out on 'the prowl' or whatever or engaging in a lot of sex makes her a slut, nor do I thin it makes a man a slut either. I think that if someone doesn't want to treat sex like this perfect, special thing that's fine and up to them.

I don't think people who don't have sex are prudes.

I think that in some cases just agreeing to disagree doesn't work. Otherwise I wouldn't get called a 'whore/slut' several times a week.

Unless you're implying that Robert Pattinson is the one calling you that, I don't see how that's relevant. I also don't see why it would be okay for you to give a definition of the word (see first post on the thread), but then to call everybody else who does the same thing responsible for people being called 'whore/slut'.

Well if we don't agree to disagree, and we certainly don't agree, there's not much more we can do. Smile

I think if somebody's opinion on the thread makes you fit their category of a slut, then you should be allowed to debate it. Plenty of people would call me a slut or say people like me are sluts, so I should be allowed to say why I disagree with it, as should others.

But they shouldn't try to guilt people into agreeing with them by suggesting how awful it is to be called a slut while they themselves call other people slut. It's just hypocritical.

If somebody disagreed with my definition of a slut, and said that they felt it targetted them, I would happily debate it with them. Likewise, if somebody posted "I think girls who have sex underage and have sex when not in a relationships are slutty" I would say why I disagree. If that point makes sense.
