Diamonds and Wrenches

Cadence frowned as he Mercedes started to act up. She pulled into some repair shop and grabbed her phone. She stepped out and made a face at the surrounding area. It was gross and she wanted to go home. Cadence walked into the shop and waited at the counter for someone to walk out. Usually her dad would take care of this, but she was coming back from a trip. Cadence had a party to go to tonight that her dad was having. She really hated to go to those things, but he made it clear that she had to be there with his boring friends.

Logan walked out with a smile on his face, looking over at the girl who looked like a walking nightmare with a huge wallet. He raised an eyebrow. They didn't usually see people around here like her. "How can I help you?" he asked, leaning against the counter and staring her down. Was she here to play some sort of joke? He didn't know, but if she did, he'd be pretty pissed off. He just shook his head at the thought and waited for her response.

Cadence watched as the guy walked out, he was attractive, but clearly worked for a living. She listened as he spoke, "My cars acting up and you need to do your job." she said. Cadence thought for a moment after she spoke because it sounds so much nicer in her head. She was about to just give up on talking to people al together or at least trying to be nice to them. Cadence raised and eyebrow at him, "Can you do that?" She asked. She didn't like coming to this part of town and she just wanted to go home. She watched as one of his buddies walked out and Cadence looked down at her phone, texting as they spoke.

[Nightmare with a huge wallet ]

Logan raised an eyebrow and opened his mouth to say something smart when his friend turned him and pulled him away from the girl, telling him to keep his mouth shut because they might not get business like this for a long time. He huffed and rubbed his face, shaking his head. "Fine," he grumbled. "I need your key, blondie." He'd put up with her for as long as he had to as long as he got a decent buck from this. Then he hoped he never had to see this barbie again.

Cadence handed him her key and made sure to avoid his nasty hand. She walked out to her car with him and crossed her arms as he looked at it. She looked at her phone as she got a text from her friend who couldn't come get her, "Fantastic." She muttered to herself. Cadence watched him for a moment, then looked back at her phone. She really didn't care about this guy, but as long as he did what he was suppose to do that was fine. Cadence ran her fingers through her hair and sighed. "Can you fix it?" She asked.

"I really shouldn't, but I can't turn a customer down no matter the bitchiness," Logan said before walking to her car and popping the hood, looking inside. "Tell me what's been wrong with it." He looked over at her, waiting for her explanation. He really hoped she was quick about this. He was seriously tempted to get his hands all greasy and draw all over the hood of her car. But he wouldn't. He'd get fired if he even tried.

Cadence looked at him and frowned when he called her a bitch. She looked up when he asked her what was wrong with it, "I don't know its just been pulling." She said. "Shouldn't you know this stuff being you do it all the time?" She asked. Cadence had been a snob so long that she really didn't notice how rude she actually was to people. Especially people who didn't have a lot of money and basically had crappy jobs.

"It's a requirement to ask, Princess," Logan said. He shut the hood and walked around, climbing in and starting the car. "I'm taking it around the back. You can go in and wait." He pulled the car around the back of the shop, driving it into the garage and parking it, climbing out. He walked around and popped the hood again, taking a look around before he called a buddy over to check the underside and the wheels.

Cadence watched as he drove her car away and looked down at her phone. Cadence watched as a corvette pulled in. She frowned and watched as her ex got out of the car. He walked over to where she was standing, "Your dad sent me to get you." He said. Cadence rolled her eyes, "Well that was a waste of your time because i would rather walk than be in a car with you." she said. He frowned, "Don't be such a bitch and just get in the car so the guy can fix your car." He said. Cadence glared at him, "Go away." She said. The guy grabbed her, "Get in the fucking car Cadence." He snapped. Cadence frowned and slapped him, "Get off of me." She said. The guy standing next to Logan behind the counter, tapped him and pointed towards the two of them. "You wanna take care of that why i get her estimate ready?" HE asked.

"Nope, not really," Logan said, grunting when he got an elbow to his ribs. He huffed and cleaned his hands off with his rag before he walked over to the two, crossing his arms over his chest and clearing his throat. He had an idea. "Hey babe," he said, walking over to the blonde and wrapping his arm around her shoulder. "Who's this guy? Is he bothering you? I'll beat his ass." He glared at the other guy, who looked like one of those scrawny rich boys, taking a step at him and smirking as he backed away. "You leave this girl alone or I'll call the cops. Got it, kid?" He turned and looked at the girl. "Come on, your car's almost ready."

Cadence tensed up when Logan put his arm around her. If he ruined her clothes she was going t kill him. The guy frowned, "Good luck finding your way home Cadence, maybe you can just find some other grease bucket to take you home." He said as he got in his car and left. She stepped away from Logan once he was gone and crossed her arms. "Sorry about that." She whispered. She just wanted to go home. It was embarrassing that this guy had to come help her. Logan's friend walked out, "Hey man the cars gonna take longer than we thought." He said. Cadence sighed when she realized she wasn't getting her car back yet.

"Sorry, kid," Logan said. "You can come back in the garage if you want. But you should really learn how to fight your own battles." He walked back to the garage to see what the hold up was. He saw a couple guys working on the car and sighed, shaking his head. This girl really needed to take more care of her car. Daddy would kill her if he found out that she wasn't taking care of it like she should. He rolled his eyes and shook his head. Just the mere thought of her made him sick to his stomach. Sure, it was a horrible thing to think, but he knew she felt the same way about him.

Cadence rolled her eyes at him, "And you should really focus on not being a dick, but i guess we both have character flaws." She said. She crossed her arms as she stood there waiting. She wanted to go home and she was not ready for that dumb party. She frowned when she saw her dad's black escalade pull up. Cadence watched as he walked in, "Daddy what are you doing here?" She asked as she walked over and hugged him. Her dad smirked, "Well Ty told me you didn't want to come with him because you were being..yourself." He said. He walked over to Logan, "Tell ya what. Scrap the car and keep the money for it." He said as he wrote a check for three grand, "That should cover the work you guys already did." He said. He figured he'd just buy her a new one. "Let's go Candence we got places to be." He said. He looked at the guys, "Thanks." He said as he walked out. Logan's friend looked at him as the man left, "Well damn." He said as he grabbed the check from Logan. "Wish my daddy would buy me a new car." He joked. Cadence had left her wallet in the shop though. She got back to her apartment and started to get dressed.

Logan found her wallet and huffed. "This girl just wants me to follow her," he mumbled, a smirk on is face and he shook his head, sighing heavily. He took the check back and folded it up, putting it in his pocket. "I gotta return this to her. I'll be back later." He walked out of the shop and went to his car, climbing in and starting it. He opened the girl's wallet and looked at her ID, reciting her address and remembering it. He drove away from the shop and began to drive to her house, sighing softly. He didn't have time to clean up after this girl, he had a job to do. But hey, at least he got a small break. That would be nice.

Cadence's dad dropped her off at her apartment building and she went to her apartment to get ready. She pulled on her dress then curled her hair. She finished doing her make up and pulled her heels on. Cadence bit her bottom lip lightly when she heard a knock at her door. She walked over and opened it seeing the guy from the repair shop,"Hi." She said, not sure why he was at her door.

"Hey," Logan muttered. "You left this at the shop." He handed her her wallet, biting his lip. "Sorry to bother you. I'll be on my way." He turned and walked back to his car, sighing heavily. He'd make the most of his drive back to work. He loved being a mechanic, but everything was becoming so difficult nowadays. His parents begged him to find a new job or profession, and it was hard.

Cadence smiled, "Thanks." She said. She took her wallet from him and then left a few minutes later. She felt kind of bad that he had to drive this far to bring her wallet back. She walked after him, "Um...let me give you some gas money for running all the way here." She said as she went to open her wallet.
