Diamonds and Wrenches

Logan reached over and rested his hand on top of hers. "Hey, it's fine," he said. "It's no problem. I filed up this morning." He smiled at her. "Sorry for causing you so much trouble. Luckily, you won't have to see me again." He climbed into his car and shifted gears, backing out of the parking space and beginning to drive away from her complex.

Cadence frowned when he claimed she wouldn't have to see him again. He acted like it was more a a burden for her to see him. Cadence sighed as she walked over to the car her dad lent her then drove to the party. She hated those parties. Cadence sneaked a few drinks, then left early. She went into the store to find ice cream. Cadence bit her bottom lip lightly as she stood in the aisle trying to decide what kind she wanted. She had spent a lot of night alone anymore. Since she broke up with her last boyfriend.

Logan drove back to work, pleasantly surprised to find that there was no more work and he could go home. He drove to his shitty, rundown apartment, parking the car and walking inside, to which he was greeted by his puppy, smiling as he barked his head off at him. He locked the door before leaning down and scratching his ears, smiling at him. "I missed you too, man," he murmured.

Cadence continued to stare at the ice cream til she found a flavor she wanted. She grabbed it, then walked to the counter to pay for it. She pay the girl and walked to her car, then drove home. Cadence walked upstairs, then started to eat her ice cream. She looked at the t.v. as she ate.

[how would you like them to meet again? Perhaps his friend could drag him to some rich party and she is there?]

Logan refilled Max's food bowl before he walked to his bathroom to take probably a cold shower. He turned the water on and stripped down, throwing his clothes into the pile forming on the floor before stepping into the shower. He was used to the cold water by now. He began to clean himself off, watching all the dirt and grease form in a pool at his feet. He washed himself until he was clean and washed his hair a couple of times until he felt it was clean before he got out and wrapped a towel around his waist.

Cadence stood there listening to her dad's boring conversation. She wanted to go home so bad and just sleep, but she always had to be here for the dumb parties. She was kind of shocked when she saw the guy from the repair shop walk in with some other guy. She was even more shocked when her friend greeted the guy. "Oh god." She muttered. Cadence frowned when her ex walked up beside her. She walked away and saw some guy walk past her with champagne on his tray. She stopped him then drank what was in one of the glasses. The guy went to walk away and she grabbed him by his tie. She took another glass and walked out of the main room. Cadence sat down on the edge of one of the fountains, taking a sip of the drink.

Logan looked around, raising an eyebrow. He didn't even know why he was here, but hey, it was something new. He saw the girl from earlier drag a guy out of the room, groaning inwardly and walking after her. He spotted her and chuckled softly as he walked over to her. "Looks like fate wants us together, huh?" he teased, clearing his throat and grabbing a glass of champagne. He sat next to her and downed the drink, groaning and sighing softly.

Cadence looked at him, "Yea looks that way." She said. She looked forward, "Why are you here anyway?" She asked. She really wanted to go home. Cadence finished her drink, then set the glass down. "You know half the people in this room have no idea what the party is for." She said.

Logan sighed softly. "I don't even know what it's for," he said, shrugging his shoulders. "My friend dragged me here." He looked up at her, biting his lip. "At least there's someone here you can talk to, right? Neither of us want to be here." He sat the glass down and hiccuped slightly. "You wanna go somewhere else?"

Cadence smiled when he mentioned going somewhere else, "You like ice cream?" She asked. She stood up, "I know this really good place." She added. Cadence didn't look like someone who ate ice cream, but she did. Cadence walked out with him and walked down the street with him. Cadence got to the ice cream shop and walked in with him.

Logan followed her, smiling. "Awesome," he murmured. "I love ice cream." He walked up to the front counter with her, biting his lip. "What do you want? I'll pay." He was still a gentleman even if he could be an ass sometimes. He didn't have much money, but he'd still pay for her.

Cadence shook her head, "You don't have to do that." She said. She didn't want him to think that he had to pay for her. Cadence got Vanilla ice cream then got fudge and sprinkles on it. She bit her bottom lip lightly as she watched for Logan to get his. Cadence had to admit that he was really hot. She felt like she found him more attractive when he was at work though.

Logan got himself some mint chocolate chip ice cream, putting gummy bears and little pieces of brownie and caramel on it. He grabbed a spoon before paying for the ice cream, smiling as he turned to her. "It's no problem," he murmured. "I just got paid last week. I have some money to spare." He walked over to a table and sat down, grabbing some napkins to put in front of them.

Cadence frowned when he paid for her, "Fine." She said. She sat down at the table with him and then ate some of her ice cream. She wondered how long it would take her parents to get mad that she wasn't there. "So how did you get tricked into coming to that party?" She asked, looking at him. She did enjoy looking at him and it made her feel different than most guys.

Logan chuckled. "Me friend told me we'd be going to some rich party with a lot of babes and stuff," he mumbled with a small shrug. "That guy's been trying to hook me up with someone forever. It's really starting to get annoying." He looked down and took a bite of his ice cream, sighing contently.

Cadence smiled, "Half the people there are boring." She said. She took a bite of her ice cream and thought for a moment. "So what do you do when your not working on cars?" She asked. She figured he did things other than that. Cadence was kind of curious to know what he did with his life. She did a lot of things that nobody really knew about her.
