Diamonds and Wrenches

"Hm," Logan mumbled, shrugging his shoulders. "I don't really know. The shop is my life. I don't really talk to my parents anymore, I don't have any siblings and the only friends I really have are at the shop." He looked down before looking back up at her. "What about yourself?"

Cadence looked at him, "I spend a lot of time by myself because i can't stand half the people i'm related to." She said. Cadence finished her ice cream then threw the stuff away. She walked outside with Logan once he was finished and crossed her arms.

Logan sighed and bit his lip. "At least you can get all the things you want," he mumbled. "You don't have to work for a living. Everything is handed to you on a silver platter."

Cadence looked at him, "I don't get everything i want." She said. "i'm not even aloud to do what i want with my life." She said. Cadence looked down the street then looked back at him, "At least you get to do something you like for a living." She said.

"It's not enjoyable when you're just barely making ends meet," Logan said, looking down at her. "It sucks when you're young and naive and you get the job of your dreams and you end up just barely making it through."

Cadence looked at him, "Yea well at least your not miserable. I'd choose having people who like me over money any day." She said as she walked with him. Cadence was glad when they finally got to her apartment building, "Do you wanna see something?" She asked, before she opened her door.

Logan raised an eyebrow as he followed her. "Sure, I guess," he mumbled. "What are you going to show me?" He was a bit worried, and he wasn't really prepared for anything.

Cadence looked at him, "Would you relax." She said as she walked into her apartment. She laid her stuff down then walked back the hallway. She looked at him, "Come on." She said. She opened the door to one of her room, "You asked what i did with my time." She said as she turned on the light. There was dozens of paintings she did throughout the room. "This is what i do." She said.

Logan looked around the room, his eyes widening as he looked at all her paintings. "Wow," he mumbled. He walked into the room and walked around, looking at each and every painting. "These are amazing, Cadence. You're really talented." He turned and looked at her. "Does anyone else know about this?"

Cadence watched as he looked at them, "Not really." She replied. She walked over to him, "My dad said it's a useless talent because i can't make a lot of money off of it." She said. She looked at the painting in front of them, "I wanted to open up my own gallery, but i don't think that is going to happen." She said. Cadence looked at Logan and then looked away.

Logan turned to look at her. "You should go for it," he said. "Follow your dreams. You're amazing, and there's no doubt in my mind that someone will buy these suckers for a million dollars in five seconds. I know I'd pay money I don't have to come see your work. It's amazing."

Cadence looked at him, "I don't know." She said. She always had the feeling like she wouldn't be good enough. Cadence walked out with Logan, shutting the door behind her. She walked to her living room and looked at him, "I had fun tonight." She said. "Probably more fun than if i would have stayed at the dumb party." She explained, smiling a little.

Logan smiled and nodded his head. "No problem," he said. "If you ever need someone to talk to, or if you ever need inspiration, you know where to find me. I should probably get back to the party before my friend starts worrying about me."

Cadence nodded, "Yea we wouldn't want your friend to get stuck with all those boring people." She said. She walked out with him, figuring she should go back to so her dad didn't get mad. Cadence walked inside the main room with Logan then found her dad.

Logan sighed softly and he found his friend, grabbing his arm and asking him to bring him home. He just wanted to go home and relax. He was exhausted, mentally and physically. He bit his lip and said he'd meet him out at the car before he went off. He found Cadence and pulled her away from her father, leaning down and kissing her cheek. "See ya," he murmured.

Cadence walked away with Logan and smiled when he kissed her cheek, "Bye."She said. She watched as he left then walked back into the main room. Cadence bit her bottom lip lightly as she listened to her father. Later that night she went back to her apartment and got ready for bed. She laid on her bed and closed her eyes, slowly falling asleep.

Logan went home and fed Max before he went to bed. He laid down on his bed and pulled the blankets over his body, yawning softly and thinking about Cadence and her amazing artwork for a while before he fell asleep.

Cadence woke up the next morning, and took a shower. She got dressed, then went to a restaurant down the street for breakfast. She ate her food and texted her one friend. Cadence found herself thinking about Logan a few times.
