“She wants to go out to Oblivion Bay to pick up Gipsy Danger,” Stacker stated. “Herc thinks it’s a sound idea. I was wondering what you think.”

Tendo's intial thought was of the Beckett brothers and Gipsy's last mission. He felt a pang of grief at the memory of Yancy's death, but also a slight glimer of hope that restoring the jaeger might bring Raleigh back. He didn't mention any of that, although Stacker probably already knew what he was thinking, instead replying with, "I reckon Mako could do it."

Stacker sighed. “I had a feeling you might say that. We’ll need to find pilots.”

"Will you be reaching out to Raleigh Beckett?" Tendo asked, purposely playing down his interest.

“The thought had crossed my mind,” Stacker commented, his voice grim. “I know he was a good friend of yours, Mr Choi. And he was a good pilot, I respect that. I did, however, ground him with good reason. He’s unpredictable, he disobeys orders, and I doubt he’d come back. Not after what happened to his brother.” He paused and considered for a moment. In reality, he didn’t have much of a choice. All the other Mark III pilots were dead. Stacker knew that, Tendo knew that, as did Herc and probably everyone else involved in the Jaeger programme. He sighed and scrubbed his mouth with his hand. “I don’t even know what rock he crawled under when I grounded him. I think it might be best that he stays there. I’m not sure if he’s worth the risk.”

Tendo releuctantly nodded in agreement. He knew everything Stacker said was true, even if he didn't like it.
"If it comes to it, I may have a lead on his whereabouts," He offered.

“Don’t tell me you’ve been keeping tabs on him?” Stacker said, half smiling. “Even I gave up on that.” He stood up when he saw someone else walk in and placed his hands behind his back.

"Maybe," Tendo admitted, with a tiny half smile, adding "Marshall" as an afterthought when he noticed someone sit down at a nearby station.

"You might want to find someone to cover your duties for you for a few days, Mr Choi," Stacker said as he went to go. "I'd like you to accompany Mako to Oblivion Bay, see if Gipsy is fit for restoration."

"Okay, sir. I'll go and do that now." Tendo finished off the thing he'd been doing when Stacker came in, saved the work and then stood up, heading down to the living area to find his second in command. On the way he ended up passing the lab so he poked his head in to see if Newt was there.

Poor, poor Newt.

Newt was in the lab, if only to annoy Hermann. And he’d showered, though he really shouldn’t have bothered since he was cutting open his dead skin parasite.

"I see you got a new pet," Tendo grinned as he entered the lab properly, sidling up to Newt's desk. He waved a greeting at Hermann across the room, before turning back to Newt to get on with the process of teasing him.

Newt looked up. He didn't always trust Tendo. He'd made teasing Newt a bit too much of a habit.

"Cutting them up isn't a nice way to treat your pets," Tendo commented, hands shoved deeply in the pockets of his trousers to avoid touching any kaiju parts.

“It’s not a pet,” Newt replied. “It’s a parasite and it’s useless because it’s dead.”

As Newt wasn't rising to the bait, Tendo changed topics.
"Have you heard about Mako's new project?"

Newt made a point of not looking up from his work. “She wants to restore one of the old Mark III’s,” Newt said, he gave a little shrug like he didn’t care. “Yeah, she came down here about an hour ago and told me…” he glanced up at Hermann and before he could say anything added, “… I mean us. You think Pentecost will let her pilot it? I mean seeing as all the Mark III pilots were you know… eaten by kaijus.” He looked down at the parasite he’d dissected for the hell of it, picked it up, and placed it on the corner of a desk on Hermann’s side of the room.

Tendo's expression said he knew all about Newt's crush, but he didn't mention it, opting to actually to reply to his question instead.
"I'm not sure. She's got the ability, not doubt about it, but she's still his daughter."

Newt caught sight of Tendo’s expression and felt his face turning red. He looked down at some paperwork and pretended to be busy with it. “Look I don’t mean to sound like an ass but did you come down here for a reason or not? I’m kinda busy… doing this…” He really hoped Tendo didn’t notice that he was furiously making notes on the menu for a pizza place in Hong Kong that had gotten muddled in with his work.

"Sure you are. Actually, I'm off to Oblivion Bay with Mako for a few days, so I was coming to see if there's anything that needs my attention before I go," Tendo informed him.
