“The thought had crossed my mind,” Stacker commented, his voice grim. “I know he was a good friend of yours, Mr Choi. And he was a good pilot, I respect that. I did, however, ground him with good reason. He’s unpredictable, he disobeys orders, and I doubt he’d come back. Not after what happened to his brother.” He paused and considered for a moment. In reality, he didn’t have much of a choice. All the other Mark III pilots were dead. Stacker knew that, Tendo knew that, as did Herc and probably everyone else involved in the Jaeger programme. He sighed and scrubbed his mouth with his hand. “I don’t even know what rock he crawled under when I grounded him. I think it might be best that he stays there. I’m not sure if he’s worth the risk.”
