Patiently Impatient

@ What if....
Riley sighed, she couldn't concentrate on eating. Asking her waitress for a take out box, she quickly boxed up her meal and paid. Rushing out of the dinner, the air hitting her, helping her slowly regain her composure. She could actually think clearer, though he was still there in the back of her mind. She could actually eat, taking a short walk down to the beach. Dropping herself down lightly in the sand, pulling her food back out to eat.

Embry had been relieved by Jared, so now he was about fifty feet in the brush, standing just out of site of being seen. He could make out Nadie figure perfectly, though the rain made it hard to hear, though he could swear he could have heard his name.

Paul sipped his soda and sat at the bar. "This sucks," he said softly out loud as he ran his fingers through his hair. Looking out, he saw Riley sitting on the curb and everything in him told him to go out but she had already rejected him and it caused a splitting pain in his chest.

Nadie looked out the window and bit her lip. Reaching out, she felt the rain fall on her fingertips. Looking up, she smiled when Quil came in. "Quil," she said happily. "How are you?" He asked gently as he came up and kissed her gently. "I'm okay," she said softly. "My ankle hurts but at least I'm not still in the woods." She said. "Thank god Embry was there," she said softly. Quil nodded and kissed her again. "I'm glad you are okay," he sat down.

@ What if....
Riley sighed out, something was wrong and she couldn't figure out what it was. Her brow furrowed, here she was trying to start a new life, yet all her fears from her old one held her back.

Embry let out a whine when he seen he seen Nadie with Quil, it tore at his heart to see her so happy with him. But then again he was happy she was happy. Though he knew he didn't just imagine that she felt the imprinting.

Paul walked out of the cafe. He looked over at her and wanted to go over to her but he held himself back. Sighing softly, he ran his fingers through his ahir before he turned. SHoving his hands into his pockets, he began to walk to his truck.

Nadie looked at Quil but for some reason the guy that she had thought she was in love with felt different. Like he was a shade of grey, she sighed softly and shook her head. "I'm sorry Quil, but I'm really tired. Can I talk to you tomorrow?" she said gently.

@ What if....
Riley's eyes shifted over to Paul, for some reason she could feel his presence. Frowning she just wish she'd stop running into him, he was making it hard for her to keep her thoughts separate. She knew she wasn't ready for a physical relationship, and he defiantly looked like someone that was sexually active. Sighing she grabbed the remainder of her food, before stalk off home.

Embry watched closely as Quil climbed out of Nadie's window. He didn't understand why he had to imprint oh Quil's girlfriend, knowing that Quil should be phasing soon anyways.

Paul walked to his car and climbed in. Sighing loudly, he turned it on. He was actually surprised at how calm he was at the situation and he couldn't tell why he was so calm but he was.

Nadie watched as Quil left and she sighed again before moving away from her window and closing it. She sat down on her bed and tried to relax as she ran her fingers through her hair. It had been a long day and soon she was fighting to keep her eyes open. She drifted off into an uneasy sleep as she rolled around in her bed.

@ What if....
Riley quickly made her way home, she avoided her grandparents a she enter the house. Running up the stair she grabbed some clothing before heading to the shower. Washing away the day. After her shower she crashed out on her bed. Letting her eyes close, hoping sleep would come soon.

Embry didn't know how long he was out side her window, though sleep soon consumed him.

Paul went home and flopped on his couch as his eyes shut. Tomorrow would be better, he told himself.

Nadie woke up the next morning and stretched. She got up and hobbled around for her shower and soon she was ready for school. Walking outside, she smiled when she saw Quil although he looked weird she thought. Getting in, she reached out and touched him before frowning. "You are really hot," she said. "Are you okay?" "Fine." Quil answered shortly.

@ What if....
Riley shifted on her bed, before jolting up right, as a scream ripped from her lungs. A whimper soon fallowed as she took in a deep shaky breath, tears streaming down her face. Her arms wrapped around her waist, tucking her self into a ball as she cried, the pain taking her back to months prior.

Embry sat on Sam's porch with Jake eating their breakfast waiting on Paul so they could head to school. Thought quickly the thought left them when a silver Volvo pulled into the driveway. Sam and Jared emerged from around the back of the house, greeting the three Vamps that stepped from the vehicle. "What are they doing here?" Jake asked stepping up, he was still soar at the Vamp for stilling Bella away.

Paul pulled into Sam's driveway looking like complete shit. He had heard Riley's screams and he stayed by her window, torturing himself by the fact that he couldn't help ease her pain or help her in any way. He was stuck in this role and it was killing to see her suffer and him not being able to help. What was he if he couldn't? Honking the horn, he drummed his fingers on the steering wheel, waiting.

Nadie sat silently as they pulled into schools and she climbed out. She struggled a bit but soon Quil was there to help her. "Nadie stop, let me help you," he said. "Quil, I don't know what I did but you are acting mad with me and what do I do?" She asked softly as looked at him. Quil began to shake and he turned and began to walk away. "Quil!" She yelled after him.

@ What if....
"They're here to help." Sam told Embry and Jake. "Now go to school, Quil will need to be supervised more so now than ever." He told them. "Paul and Jared will stay." He informed them, before waving them off. Knowing the word would spread for them. Embry nodded before looking at Jake, "Maybe Paul will let us borrow his truck." He said before him and Jake took off to Paul's truck.

Riley had managed to pull herself together with the help of her grandmother. Now she was laying curled up in the backseat of her grandfather's car, her face tear stain. The medicine the doctors had given her had wore off, and though she hated taking them, it helped for when she woke up, it'd dull the pain in the morning and help keep her body feeling numb. Taking a deep breath she closed her eyes feeling the car come to a stop, bracing herself so the pain wasn't a gut wrenching as it had been. "You stay here." Her grandfather's choked words rushed out, she knew it pained him to see her this way. She knew it had been the reason her grandmother was now weeping in her bedroom. Though this morning they both had become aware of the damage done. Listening to the light click of the door, she closed her eyes trying to will the pain away.

Paul watched as Embry and Jacob came over and he got out his car. Barely speaking, he handed Jacob the keys. "You scratch it then I will kill you," he growled out before he continued to stalk up to the house. He didn't acknowledge the bloodsuckers as he sat down on the porch. Looking up, he watched as Riley and her grandfather pulled up and he perked up.

Nadie stood by Quil's truck, hoping he would come back. She ran through her head, trying to figure out what could have set him off that he would leave her. He had never left her before. She ran her fingers through her hair. Moving toward the high school entrance, she stumbled slightly because of the pain in her ankle.

@ What if....
Riley could hear voices speaking in the distances, though her thoughts were to jumbled to try and listen. Though she knew he was there somewhere, she could just feel his wamth, and want.
"Sam." William, Riley's grandfather greeted, his voice and face still displayed his rough morning. "Ah, you must be Carisle." He greeted. "Thank you for being able to she her on such short notice." He said his face grim with dispair.

Embry took Paul's keys before rushing to his truck, jumping in the driver's seat before Jacob could manage. He was thrilled to be going to school, he'd be able to see Nadie. Just thinking of her had his heart in his throat.

Paul looked up and watched as her grandfather came out. He wanted to see her, to touch her, he sighed and ran his fingers through his hair as he forced himself to stay put.

Nadie finally got to school and she tried to relax. Getting to her classroom, she sat down and bit her lip. Watching everyone else come in, she tried to relax. Leaning her head against her forearm, she wanted Quil to come back, she couldn't help but worry but on the other hand, she wanted to see Embry too.

@ What if....
"Uh." William studdered, before motioning back to the car. "She in pain." He felt embrassed that he was even having to say it. "Can one of you grab her, and be genly."

Embry glared at Quil's truck, though he didn't see him around. Quickly entering the school, he located Nadie, sitting in class. It was odd she normally sat by Quil first period, though he wasn't anywhere to be seen.

Paul pushed himself up and walked over to the car. Opening up her door, he slid his arms under her and held her gently against his chest. He moved slow and cautiously, not wanting to cause her anymore pain then she was already in.

Nadie looked up when Embry came in. Her eyes met his before looking away quickly. Biting her lip, she looked out the window and tried to figure out what was going on with the guys that she used to spend most of her time with.

@ What if....
Riley wimpered, as she pulled in a breath. Her hands fisting into the materal of his shirt, she didn't need to be told who it was. The feeling she got being in his arms contrasted with the pain, makimg it barable.

Embry smiled at Nadie, taking Quil's seat. "Hey, where's Quil?" He asked, right now he couldn't care who or what they were talking about, just as long as she spoke to him.

Paul moved slowly as not to cause her extra pain. "It's okay," he whispered to her so quietly that no one else heard. "It's okay," he whispered again reassuringly. He walked with her into the house and set her down on the couch ever so gently.

Nadie looked up when Embry sat down and she shrugged. "He ran off into the forest. Hey, thanks for helping me yesterday," she said softly as she smiled at him before looking at him. He had changed a lot in the past few weeks.

@ What if....
Riley slowly pried her fingers from Paul's shirt, for some odd reason his words made her body relax. She felt safe in his arms, though she knew she shouldn't even consider thinking about a man, ever.

"He did?" He asked, before looking a Jake, who left the room. He'd go to tend to Quil. "It was no problem." He smiled his dazzling smile, knowing just how much it would effect her.

Paul watched as the bloodsuckres came in and he growled lowly. "You hurt her and I will make you regret it," he said to them as he took up his post, standing protectively at her side.

Nadie looked at him and blushed a deep red before looking away. "Yeah, I hope you are right..." she said before trailing off. "You know if he comes back and you are sitting in his seat, he is going to be pissed," she said with a smile.
