Four unrelated characters get on a flight from Manchester Airport to LAX with completely different reasons for being on board. The flight is an overnight flight and as the plane passes over the [insert whatever ocean is between the UK and the US because I’m useless with geography] ocean, they are alerted via the intercom of the plane being hijacked. All tracking systems are turned off and the plane is directed off-course. After flying around aimlessly for a while, the hijackers land the plane near to a weapons manufacturer as the owner has done something to warrant terrorist action being taken towards him. A few of the passengers and [one?] of the hijackers get off of the plane and the passengers are fitted with bombs, before being left in the weapons factory with no way of escape. When the owner arrives, he and any other accompanying people are shut in with the human bombs and demands are made for [insert what the hijackers want here] or they will blow up both the hostages and the owner.

The plane itself drops off these hijackers and continues on-course to the airport, with the sole intention of blowing it up and creating mass panic. The passengers on-board are kept in their seats and forced to witness the horror as the plane gets closer with each passing second. Then [we insert the awesome and mind-blowing – pun emphatically intended – ending here once we’ve got all of the details ironed out].

Kayleigh | Jamie Hillington

Age: 23

Physical Appearance: Physically fit, blemish-free skin. Green eyes and blonde, shaggy hair.

Personality: Cocky, concerned about himself, likes victimising himself, doesn't care much for other people/will sacrifice someone in order to better himself.

Background: Born to a rich family, Jamie has had a silver spoon in his mouth for his entire life. He was troublesome during his teenage years, often going out until late hours and being brought home by the police for underage drinking or damaging public property. Despite all this, his parents' money has been able to help him out of every situation he's found himself in, ultimately leading to him living in an expensive flat and getting an allowance from his mother while his father is grooming him to be able to work for his uncle's company in order to have the knowledge and work ethic to take over his father's job when he decides to retire (as of the beginning of the story, the grooming isn't going too well).

Why he's on the plane: Him and a bunch of mates are on a holiday for booze, girls and sun.

Victoria | Matthew Cooper

Age: 42

Physical Appearance: Slightly overweight. Dark, floppy hair and brown eyes.

Personality: Cynical, not easily scared, impulsive, cares deeply about others despite not showing it.

Background: Matthew’s dream had always been to get to the rank of police detective. As an only child of an upper-class family, he was given anything he wanted and upon his entry to the police force, many assumed his parents had bought him in. Over the years, he managed to prove himself to his fellow colleagues, at the expense of his wife and daughter. Work always came before them and before long he found he had pushed them too far away to ever mend the bonds. After the divorce and his ex-wife’s move to the US, Matthew has become bitter and withdrawn, and spends all of his spare time working.

Why he’s on the plane: Matthew is taking a trip to see his daughter, the same trip he embarks on once every year for her birthday. This year is her eighteenth birthday, so he feels like he should do something important to celebrate it.

Shall we start with introductions?

Hello, I'm Victoria and I hail from the fabulously (not) sunny land of Scotland. I'm kind of a conspiracy freak and I've wanted to write something like this for years but never really had the guts to actually do it, which is why I'm doing this as a co-write because it is kind of a taboo subject.

In terms of this story, I'd love to get hammered straight in with the planning. We'll all need one character that we'll be writing for, so that's entirely up to you as to what you want that character to do / what nationality they are / names / anything else. I'd like ideally for us to all have characters that differ a lot in terms of personality and jobs, just so that we can see the story from the eyes of vastly different people.

Honestly, I'm terrible at introductions, seeing as I'm more of an ask and tell guy. But I live in San Diego California. I love writing, but frequently lose the inspiration when writing by myself.

Now that I've introduced myself, I shall be off to work on my character.

Hello I'm Yasmin from the golden state of California! Being a middle eastern Muslim, I tend to get really nervous in airplanes and airports, especially around security. Like, I'll get pulled aside for a pat down and I'll be like "OKAY IM SORRY I DONT KNOW WHERE THE BOMB IS IM SORRY JUST TAKE ME TO GUANTANAMO ALREADY" and then airport security will be like "um actually we just pulled you aside because you can't have lotion in your carryon bags". So basically, yeah. I may or may not have a heart attack while writing this story. But the good kind of heart attack.

As for characters, I think I'm just going to wait it out and see what you guys choose to do, and then base mine off of that lol.

Hello there, I am Kayleigh and this is a fabulous idea from Victoria. Terrorism has been on my list of topics to write in stories for years but people get touchy over incest so I figured I'd wait a while until I broached it, and Victoria saved the day. I (currently) hail from Wales, the place known for its sheep shaggers but ask anyone and it was an English guy who actually shagged the sheep (which, coincidentally, I am an Englishwoman). Also I firmly believe in government cover-ups which isn't agreed on with a lot of people.

Also I'd love to write a rich kid with entitlement issues. They're the best.

I have the same problem with writing, it's why I start and never finish so many stories! Hopefully this'll keep your inspiration going though.

I've never been on a plane, I'd be terrified to go on one after all of the weird programmes I've watched. I'd be scared that I accidentally lifted something incriminating or something like that. I'll be having a mini heart attack during this too, just because I hate the thought of planes!

That's cool. If you have any ideas for characters that you desperately want to write then just let me know and I'll get it chalked up on the character post.

I'm thinking about writing either my staple character (musician - I kind of write too many of those characters though) or a businessman or woman who is married to their work. I don't know. I'll decide later on one the name appears to me.

I'm a little creepy with my replyings being like 0.0005 seconds after the original post was posted. Ooh, I kind of bonded with this girl I know last year about my theories on 9/11 (which no one on here ever wants to hear about!!!) and yeah, government cover-ups.

I think it'll be a boy, and he's always had Mummy and Daddy pay for everything and get him out of trouble with their money. He also thinks the world owes him something.

That's actually kind of inspiring and makes me want to write as someone totally innocent and whatnot who's never been on a plane before. Like, it'll be their first time on a plane and they're really young, like, eighteen years old coming home from college for the first time. And they'll be all nervous and people will be like "oh it's okay blah blah". And then BOOM PLANE HIJACKING. Or if we don't do a hijacking, I can switch that bio around a bit and still make them the innocent one who's never been in a situation like that before, you know?

Gawd Kayleigh, you massive creeper. My uni friends all roll their eyes when I start talking about 9 / 11 conspiracy theories. You should have heard them when I started on that plane disappearing and the whole Crimea-Russia thing. They were so not impressed with me.

Oh my gosh, the plane disappearance I am full of theories (that are probably true - like really, the government knew nothing?) and man, Putin, like someone said on my Facebook feed, reminds them of Hitler.

I tend to give my opinion on these things when explaining them to people who aren't up to date with the news.

They're still looking, aren't they? There was something like 24 countries (or a number close to that) involved in the search, and they're not even sure if the bits they picked up on satellite are to do with the plane. Yeah, right

Something like the basic details and then a bio of their life and why they're on that plane? Which means we have to decide where it was taking off from and where it was heading.
