Will You Let Me In?

Hailee didn't really have time to answer before he had walked off to get to class. She gathered her things, knowing she should do the same; he parents would flip if she got detention for skipping. She rolled the idea of going on a hike with him in her mind. It excited and frightened her all at once. It was daring; something she had never done before. Well... She'd gone hiking before but not alone with a boy who wasn't family.

"I told you, you would be seeing me again. Silly goose." David stated matter-of-factly. He watched as she frightenedly put her things between them and he couldn't help but chuckle. He definitely wasn't someone she should be scared of. He shook his head at her, "C'mon now. It's not like I'm the big bad wolf. I couldn't hurt a fly, ask anyone." David was one of the most gentle people there were and he knew that. "I just want to be your friend." He looked down while letting her see that he was pouting.

Emmet smirked knowing that she would battle it but if she really was interested in him as much as she thought he was then she would do it. Besides he was asking her to go on a weekend. He couldn't really skip school either if he wanted to stay on the soccer team. Emmet knew she probably had some other thing planmed for the weekend but she could blow it off once. It wasn't like it would kill her.

North frowned. "I told you already." She sighed as he pouted. "Does that really work on girls? That's pathetic." She said and frowned saking her head. "Seriously you will het hurt and get me hurt. So just drop it." North said and slipped past him out into the hall to her locker. She pulled out what she needed for her last class thankful the day was almost done.

Hailee's mind, and heart, were racing. She was gonna say yes; she needed to say yes. She felt like she was drowning in the life her parents had created for her and this was one way to start swimming back to shore. She just didn't know how she was going to find him and she honesty didn't know much about the kid. She knew she should probably learn more, see what people said about him, but who did she have to ask? She had no friends, not real ones anyways. She had David but she hadn't really seen much of him today.

He ran after her, she wasn't just gonna slip away like that. He wasn't just some arrogant rich kid and he was gonna prove himself to this girl, one way or another. He caught up with her just as she was shutting her locker door and managed to grab her forearm. "I just like you. I don't know why but I do. I'm not giving up on this. You can tell me to give up, that it's a lost cause, and whatever other nonsense you can come up with but you aren't getting rid of me. Not that easily." Then he walked away; he wasn't giving her time to reject him.

Emmet smiled. It was Wednesday wich meant he had ssoccer practic after school. Once the final bell rang he headed to the boys locker room. He ran a hand hrough his hair as he changed and then he came out filling up his water bottle. Emmet figured he would see Hailee tomorrow and she would tell him her answer then. He smiked at the thought of her. She was cute, and she had a secerate he wanted to know, amd irt was who she was under all that perfectness.

North wimpered as he took her arm. She hated when people grabbed her like that. She glared at him. "Then you better find a different approach!" She yelled after him rubbing her arm and decidinh to skip her last class. She went to the girls bathroom and started to cry. She had locked herself in a stall and dropped her things to the ground. He was trying to smash his way inside and she had delt with more then enough of that. It was why her walls where so high. She was careful to pick people and no one stood up to what she had set. She needed someone to come down to her level and see what she had been through, and how it has nevee stopped. That was what the cuts where for. It was for every opertunity for happiness that nevr went right, it was for the people that hurt her and he things they did. She remebered each one and built her wall with those painful memories. It allowed her to stay safe burried beneith a wall that had so mich pain. She took the saying, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, to a new level.

Hailee looked at her reflection in the mirror she had in her locker, and sighed. She didn't know what any boy, especially Emmett, even saw in her. She had bags under her eyes from lack of sleep and she was just plainly plain. Wednesday meant cheerleading practice. She really wished that the school provided gymnastics or a dance team, but she wasn't lucky enough. She complained to her parents so they placed her in a gymnastics and dance class, only busying her schedule further. What she had really hoped for was getting out of cheerleading.

Because the weather was nice practice was to be held outside. She joined the other girls in the locker room to change into her workout clothes. Once all the girls were outside, they trucked outside onto the side field. She could see the boys soccer team running about. Suddenly, she spotted Emmett kicking the ball straight past the goalie and score. She jumped up and down while she yelled, "Go Emmett," before she could stop herself.

David decided to skip class and slipped into the boys locket room. He had soccer practice later anyways. He looked at himself in one of the mirrors and tugged at his hair in frustration. He didn't understand how one girl had affected him so much. He barely knew her and that was killing him; he wanted to know everything about her. It was killing him.

Eventually the bell rang and his team members came trampling in. They all changed and headed out to the field. The coach was hard as them as usual. He heard "Go Emmett" from across the field and he looked over to see his sister jumping up and down, then she looked oddly embarrassed. He looked at the guy she had been yelling at. It was a kid on his team that he never really spoke to. Of course, David didn't speak to many of the guys on the team. "You know my sister?" He questioned him.

Emmet smiled looking over at Hailee in her sweet little cheer uniform and he waved. He like how she got embarrassed. When David came up to him he nodded. "Yeah I just meet her today. We uhh seem like we will be good friends." He said tesring the wayers with her brother. He guessed he should have put two and two together that they where related. Emmet grinned. "Don't worry I have nothing but respect for all women, expecially your sister." Emmet said rubbing the back of his neck and looked up as coach told them to go another round. He smirked and nodded running back into position. He really hoped she would be heering for his games. He would like to have her there.

Once the last bell rang she pulled off her dark swearer putting on the pink one shoving the black one in her bag. Then she headed out and got in a car that took her to a litttle house that looked so perfect. Everything had to look perfect, always. North headed to her room and took of the sweater throwing it in the corner as she locked her door and then went to her bed reaching under it and pulling out a necklace. She pressed it to her palm and then laid back and closed her eyes as she pressed it to her chest. Tomorrow would be better.

Hailee looked to see that all the other girls were staring at her. "What?" She barked, "Shouldn't guys be practicing or something." She glared at the girls as they all scrambled to get into formation. She turned back around and sighed; she hated being mean but she hated being gawked at even more. Hailee couldn't wait to be back with Emmett, where she could be herself.

David watched the other boy wearily. He was glad his sister was finally going to socialize but that didn't mean he wasn't going to be the overprotective brother.

Once practice was over, he met Hailee over at the car and eyed her suspiciously. "When did you start speaking to Emmett?" He watched as she just shrugged her shoulders, clearly telling him it was none of his business; he was used to all the gestures she would use to talk sometimes. "You know mom and dad are gonna flip right?" He watched as she starred contentedly in the direction of the school. He huffed out a deep breath; he knew if this was what made his sister happy then he would fight his parents to the end about it.

Emmet smiled trugging home as practice ended. He had worked since he was 14 for his jeep. Every summer he made as much money as he could, stayimg up late, waking up early but finally lat year he had saved up enough to buy his jeep. Emmet went home to a silent home. He sighed seeing mom was passed out drunk on the choach again. He sighed put a blanket ober her and made some dinner for himself. His father had taken off years ago, before he was out of elementry school. It was hks life but he was making a better one. If he kept playing soccer like he did he could get a soccer scholarship to anywhere he pleased.

North woke in the morning realizing she had missed dinner. She sighed and put her necklace away. North got ready for school wearing that little pimk swearshirt they liked and going down for breakfast. "You didn't answer when we called you to eat last night." The man sitting at the table said without looking at her. "I am sorry I fell asleep." She said and the woman walked in with eggs and toast. "It's okay, just try to tell us you are tired next time." North nodded sitting and eating. She drank the orange juice too and then stood and washed her dishes. She came back and the man stood to take her to school and he would go to work. Ember arives eaelt so she sat in the shadow of he school finishing up homework.

"What do you even know about Emmett?" Hailee looked over at her twin.

"Not much, honestly. Just that he's on the soccer team. He may be on other school teams, I'm not sure."

Hailee knew he was telling the truth; David never paid much attention to who was on his team. He just played the sport and tried his damnedest to be good at it so their parents would be pleased. Just like with her and cheerleading.

They arrived at the giant wrought iron gate and it opened with a press of a button. The car traveled up the long, beautiful driveway that led up to a ginormous house that was a modern Victorian. The house was beautiful, Hailee just wished the people inside were too.

David parted with his sister at the top of the stairs; he headed for his room and she for hers. They would both change into something nicer and join their parents downstairs for dinner.

They sat at table large enough to comfortably sit twelve people, even though there was only four of them. His father sat at the north end; his sister sat on the east; his mother sat on the south end; and he sat at the west. "So, how did your day go, my children?" His father asked, his voice rang loud and clear.

He looked to David first, as always. "It went as usual. Soccer practice was a breeze as always." His father looked to Hailee. "The same as David. Cheerleading was easy and boring."

They finished diner then he and Hailee were sent to their lessons. Her playing piano; him playing violin. They could play the instruments with their eyes shut but their parents refused to drop the lessons.

After several hours of practice they were released and sent to their rooms to finish their homework and go to bed. David layed in his bed, staring at the ceiling. He really hoped tomorrow would go a lot better with North.

(I feel like this is super long but I really wanted to tell a little about what it's like for them at home.)

Emmet got to school on time glad they didn't have morning practice that day. He walked around watching people and honestly looking for Hailee. He wanted to see the light in her eyes when she looked at him. He could tell she liked him because she lit up like a tree on Christmas. Emmet walked to his locker gathering his things then headed to where he thought he saw Hailee went for her locker. And when he saw her he smiled. He was only a couple off. He went up behind her a d put his hands over her eyes. "Guess who." He said and smiled.

North was just finishing the last of her homework and slipped it into her bag standing to go to her locker. She headed down the hall hugging the wall with the least people. She looked like a rabbit in a wolf den. Ahe was scared and it was obvious. She hated school. To many people, to many opportunities to get hurt. North had enough problems without that. She was expecially careful to avoid David. He was to rough, to abrasive. He could hurt her.

Hailee was startled by the feeling of hand falling over her eyes but instantly calmed down at the sound of his voice. "Emmett," she sighed. She grabbed his heads and removed them so she could turn to face him. He was a lot closer to her than she expected and she could smell him, like soap and spring. She smiled up at him and said, "I suppose your waiting on wether or not I'm willing to go?"

David scanned the halls as he walked through them, searching for North. There were too many people in his way. He managed to spot her but she slipped around a corner, by the time he got over there she was gone. "Shit," he muttered to himself and raked a hand through his hair.

He had to remind himself that they had first period together; he would be seeing her this morning. Still, he was frustrated. He just wanted to know what to do, what to say, to get this girl to open up to him. He quickly snatched his books out of his locker and made a beeline for the classroom, where he knew she would be.

Emmet smiled at her voice when she knew it was him. She held his hands as ahe turned and he smiled and nodded at her question. "Well that would be nice, but I could also just ask how your night went." He said with a smile taking her books for her so he could walk her to class. Emmet really likked Hailee. She was something special. And somehow she made him feel special.

North was sitting next to the window by a chatty looking girl. North nodded randomly like she was listening smiling as the bell rang and she pulled her notepad out. It was obvious by now that she was doing everything to avoid him. North smiled as class started and she was able to relax some.

"Thanks." She grinned as he took her things. "Well, as for my night... It was routine, as always," she sighed. "But to answer your question, yes I would love to go. You were right, I do need to do something different." She paused at her classroom door to smile at him and take her books back. "Thank you, Emmett." She kissed his cheek and quickly spun around to enter the classroom, her cheeks were on fire.

North had moved seats and David didn't like that at all. Weirdo Jimmy was sitting next to him instead of the secretive girl; who happened to be sitting next to Motormouth Marilyn. He hope North was miserable sitting next to her. He glared in her direction and slumped down in his seat.

Emmet grinned as she said she would go with him. He was about to say some kind of clever comeback when she kissed his cheek and ran off. He smirked feeling a blush. It was like he was back in elementary school again. Emmet rubbed the back of his neck and walked to class. He had been rendered speechless. It didn't happen often yet somehow Hailee was like his kryptonite. He got to class sat down only thinking of Hailee. If he kept this up he would need her to tutor him.

North groaned quietly as the girl passes her a note and she passed it back without even looking at it but he girl insisted. 'OMG like David Blake is looking your way. Isn't he the cutest? He's rich you know. And his twin aister Hailee Blake OMG she is like the best girl everyone wants to be. So how do you know David, what's your secerate, OMG are you two like dating? His parents will flip, David never dates. How did you do it, spill!' North sighed looked at David over her shoulder narrowing her eyes as if to tell him to stop looking at her. North pocketed the note and ignored the girl as she worked on the litature work. She really didn't want to have to take work home. The bell rang and she stood groaning as the hirl followed her out. She was so dumb, she had to pick that seat. Then North snapped and turned to her. "Don't you ever shut up? Look I don't want friends. Leave be alone." She walked away quickly as everyone in the hall stared at her and the girl stood there completely speechless. But that didn't last long. North could still hear her down the hall. "I don't talk that much...right?" North went to her locker and just laid her forhead on the metal hoping she would sink right into it and be invisible but she heard him and knew that it wasn't happening. This time she came with ammo though.

Hailee gnawed on her bottom lip and tried concentrating on the work. She knew her parents would kill her if she got anything less than an A. She sighed as she worked on the notes in front of her. She hoped that she would see him again before she made her way to art. The bell rang and Hailee gathered her things as quickly as possible before darting out of the door. As she stepped out she saw a girl, that she'd never seen before, yelling at Motormouth Marilyn. Then watched with wide eyes as she saw David take off after the girl.

"I don't talk that much... Right?" Hailee heard Marilyn say and she realized she was speaking to her. Hailee rubbed at the back of her neck, not knowing what to say. She didn't want to be mean but she didn't want to lie either.

David watched the interaction with wide eyes and took off after North, as she tried to make her getaway. "You didn't have to be so mean, you know." He glared at the girl in front of him. He just wanted to know what her deal was. He'd already tried to shake her off of his mind but it wasn't happening so she was stuck with him, whether she liked it or not.

Emmet came up hearing the commotion. He took Hailee's books and smiled at Marilyn. "Naw you just know what you wanna say." He said cleverly telling her both yes and no. Emmet smiled at Hailee. "Where to?" He asked with a smile. She was so cute. He hadn't been able to keep his mind off her or stop his feet from moving to where he had left her. Emmet wanted to be around her.

North winced spinning to look at him. "You don't know anything about me David." She said and shook her head. "Besides I didn't mean to be mean, I just want everyone to leave me alone, it's just easier that way." She said looking really sad as she looked back down. She pushed it back and looked up angry. "And who are to telling that we are dating because it seems to have gotten around school." She said pulling out the note and pushing it in his chest. "We are not a thing." She said feeling crushed as she said it so she suddenly stopped in her rant and she looked down feeling the tears. She blinked them away. So she wanted to let him in, to have someone to trust but anyonw but the most popular guy in school. It was becoming obvious that he was. North opened her locker and grabbed her things debating skipping classes but if her guardians found out thay she did that she would have bigger issues then the looks she was getting. "David... I am not what you think I am. I... never mind I have to go." She said and started slowly to her next class. She loooked really upset.

Hailee huffed out a sigh of relief as Emmett came up and saved her. "Art," she smiled up at him, "Thank you for coming to my rescue." He was so wonderful and completely adorable, it took all Hailee had not to stare at him. She gnawed at her lip and made her way towards class.

David looked at the note and read it quickly. He crumpled it up and shoved it in his pocket. He quickly caught up to her and grabbed her hand, causing her to turn and face him. "I haven't told anyone we were together, that's something Marilyn came to on own. Why would I tell anyone we're together when you've done nothing but make it clear that you want nothing to do with me? And how could you not be who I think you are, when I have no idea what to think about you? You won't even give me a chance. I've never wanted to know anyone as bad as I want to know you. You think I don't know the whole "no friends" game? It's hard letting anyone in when you're scared that thy just want to be friends with you for your money."

Emmet smiled and walked with her toward the class. Emmet grinned. "Not a problem." He said. Watching her gnawing at her l made him want to put his lips there. Hestopped her before her class. People where nearlt out of the hall way. "Hailee." He took hier hand stopping jer dropping her hand to cup her cheek. He pulled hee bottom lip from between her teeth. He smiled looking at her lips the up at her eyes. "You are beautiful." He said and kissed her cheek but it was a longer cheek kiss then most would give. It allowed him to feel the blush on her cheeks rise. He handed her books back to her and smiled. "I'll see you at lunch." He saod and took off so he wouldn't be late for class.

North felt his hand take hers and she was shocked. He was learning. She turned but took her hand from his listening to what he said. North beleived him too. So she let down a small wall and bit the inside of her cheek. "Will I see you again at lunch in the woods?" She looked anywhere but at him. She beleived he might habe a glimbs of the things she went through. Maybe he could understand. North didn't know what to do with herself. She hadd never asked someone to come with her.

Hailee watched Emmett as he left, her heart going a million miles per hour. One hand went to her cheek and the other clutched her books to her chest. She practically stumbled into art with the biggest of grins on her face. As she sat down at her desk, whipping out her sketch pad, she flipped to the page where she had begun to draw Emmett. Hailee let out a puff of breath and began the gnawing at her lip once more, it was suddenly becoming a nervous habit.

David's heart started pounding viciously and his palms became sweaty at her question. "Uh.. Yeah," he barely managed to get out, he had finally made progress. "If that's what you want." His hand reached upwards and raked through his hair nervously, his legs suddenly feeling shaky. He didn't understand what was going on, a girl had never made him feel this way.

Emmet smiled as he got into class. He sat down looking forward to a lunch with Hailee. He got his stuff together and started on his work but still finding his mind drifting back to her beautiful face and that amazing look she had. Emmet smiled and ran his hand through his hair remembering the feel of her. Emmet smiled leaning back in his chair watching time tick by.

North looked up blushing and smiled. "Right then. I will uhh see you then." She said and scooted around him headed off to class. She blushed and pulled her hood closer as she slipped into class. North was kind of surprised at his reaction. He had seemed so nervous.
