Eldon's flight back home was fierce and pushing through the portal was difficult, but the soft sunlight in his home was far more pleasant. He turned to the guard that was with him and smiled, "Artemisa, she's beautiful. Isn't she, mate?" He asked, smirking and the guard next to him nodded. He sighed though, knowing that his enjoyment would soon be ruined seeing as he failed to bring the princess home. He flew towards the shimmering palace in front of him and landed just outside of the stairs to the king and queen. "Thanks again, sport," he said to the guard, who nodded and flew away. He climbed the stairs slowly, opting not to fly to save time from being chastised.
"Sir Eldon, do come quickly," the queen's voice rang and he huffed. The queen and king were decorated in swirling silver and Eldon's was quickly reminded of his place; while they shined, he only shimmered. The queen's lavendar dress draped down from her throne and her blonde curls were piled on top of her smiling face. "Where is she?" She asked, craning her neck, assuming Eldon had succeeded.
"I had some complications," Eldon commented and watched King Fern's eyes grow heavy with boredom or contempt.
"Well, you go back and fix it, at all costs," Queen Orna. She stood, her voice booming and Eldon wondered when the power shifted from Fern to Orna. Marriage, he thought at first and then sneered. No, love. He wanted nothing to do with this entire situation because if she never returned, he took his place as king, a queen-less king. He would be in complete control without any sort of strange affections getting in his way. He didn't need a queen to make an heir.
"What? Should I pretend to be human and woe her away?" He asked, sarcasm coating his voice.
"Actually, that's precisely what I was thinking," she commented, smiling at him. He felt his wings flatten sharply and groaned in pain as they sat against his back. "Those can stay there until you've completed your task." She winked and his clothes were replaced with some sort of foreign and seriously lacking clothing; just a plain shirt and some heavy blue fabric for pants. At least, he kept his boots. He huffed, hating to see how much power he lacked.
"And what exactly is my task?" He asked.
"You bring her home, at whatever cost. You make her want it or she'll never get her wings. She has to want to follow you," Queen Orna explained, taking her seat after basically striping Eldon of his magic. He was just a basic fairy now, a fairy before his 16th birthday; wingless and lacking in magic. He sighed, knowing that it wasn't exactly the case. He realized that this situation made him sigh a lot. "So, if it means making her fall in love with you, you make her fall in love."
Eldon nodded, tensing his jaw as he waited to be sent back to the human world. The scenery twisted around him and he was standing in the Earthly sun, standing in front "Washington Heights High School: Home of the Golden Knights." He rolled his eyes, his intelligence already surpassing every human in this retched place. He didn't realize that there was a bag on his shoulder until now and he took it off to inspect it. There was a schedule, car keys and two addresses: his own and Solona's. The bell tolled and he looked down: "Great, I have to take Anatomy and Physiology this early."
