Secrets All Around Us

Matt was sitting beside Zacky and Jimmy as he watched his best friend's wedding reception. People were making speeches, he'd already done his, and he just couldn't keep the grin off his face as he watched Brian and Michelle stare lovingly into each other's eyes. It was cute, he'd admit that. He and Johnny were the only ones who weren't married yet, but at least Johnny was engaged, whereas he was still as single as could be. He looked over when he was tapped on the shoulder, Jason Berry standing there. He nodded when Jason asked him to go pick up a couple more cases of beer and he stood up, looking over at Jimmy's wife, Kim, giving her a look that asked if she wanted to come.

Kim watched Brian and Michelle as everyone gave their speeches, Jimmy and her already having given theirs. It was great to see another couple out of the group get married, her and Jimmy being the first ones out of them all since they had practically known each other since they were toddlers and had been each other's first everything. They were practically made for each other and everyone knew that. Although she had been cheating on the love of her life with His best friend lately and as bad as it made her feel, she couldn't help it. "Baby, I'll be right back," Kim said to Jimmy quietly before she got up and followed Matt out of the reception hall.

Matt looked over at Kim when they got outside, smiling at her. "Jason asked me to pick up a few more cases of beer," he said, pressing her against his car and pecking her lips. Since the guys typically spent most of their time at home or in the studio as of recent, it was hard for him to get a chance to see Kim, but he managed to make it work. He felt terrible that he was having an affair with his best friend's wife, but they'd both agreed it was strictly physical. No emotional feelings, although lately he was starting to break past that barrier.

Kim grunted a bit as he pressed her against his car and she slid her hands up his chest and wrapped them around his neck. She closed her eyes as he pecked her lips and she kissed him back. She was trying to find the right time to tell him that she was pregnant with his child. She was about four months along and hadn't really had any time with him the past two months to be able to tell him. She hadn't even told Jimmy and she was going to lie to him when she told him and tell him that she just found out which was why she needed to tell him as soon as possible which she wanted to be tonight. "Matt, I have something to tell you," she said quietly as he pulled away.

Matt nodded his head. "Yeah, of course," he said. "What's up?" He could tell that she had a bit of a worried look on her face, which instantly made him worry. Was she ending their affair? Was she divorcing Jimmy? All of these negative ideas started rushing through his head and he bit his lip nervously. "Are you leaving us?"

Kim frowned and shook her head when he said that and she started to feel her stomach twist into knots as she felt the need to throw up even though those days were long gone. She had hidden it well from Jimmy since he was always gone out of the house by 6am for work so it was pretty easy hiding the morning sickness. "N-no. I just... Matt... I'm... I'm pregnant. And the baby is yours," she whispered. The reason she knew the baby was his was because her and Jimmy had been using condoms and her and Matt didn't. And that was mainly because Kim was on birth control but she was guessing that she had missed a day or something.

Matt stared at her for a minute, struggling to process what she'd told him. "P-pregnant?" he stammered after a minute, his eyes wide as he stared down at her. Please be joking, he begged over and over in his head. If she was really pregnant, there was only one way to go through with this, and that was to lie to Jimmy.

Kim clenched her eyes shut and nodded her head as she swallowed the lump that was forming in her throat. She really didn't know what she was supposed to say to him. There was nothing she could say to him. She was pregnant and that was that. And there was no way she was going to tell Jimmy she was pregnant by his best friend either. That would tear his already fragile heart apart and she didn't need that. "I'm not telling him it's yours. I just thought you needed to know before everything went down so you're prepared."

"What are you gonna tell him when the kid looks like me?" Matt muttered quietly. He had always been the family type of guy but he didn't think it would happen like this. He ran a hand through his hair and shook his head as he started to pace back and forth. "Fuck," he cursed. "This is not good."

Kim shook her head slightly when Matt said that and frowned deeply, not having thought about that. "You two are never going to be in the same room together. You and the baby, I mean. Not while Jimmy's around. That way he'll never be able to see the resemblance," Kim sighed as she ran a hand through her hair. She had already gotten all the crying out of her system, or so she thought. With all these new hormones she knew she was bound to start bawling her eyes out again sometime soon or while her and Matt talked about this.

Kim shook her head slightly when Matt said that and frowned deeply, not having thought about that. "You two are never going to be in the same room together. You and the baby, I mean. Not while Jimmy's around. That way he'll never be able to see the resemblance," Kim sighed as she ran a hand through her hair. Matt stopped and looked at her. "What's gonna happen on his first birthday, when all of us come to celebrate, and I have to be around?" he asked. "I can't just avoid being around Jimmy when the baby comes, he's going to think something's wrong. That's the last thing we want."

Kim groaned quietly and tugged at her hair as tears of frustration started to form in her eyes. "Well what the fuck are we going to do, Matt? I guess we better hope I have some strong ass genes or else we're both fucked, huh?" Kim snapped as she started to pace back and forth while trying to get the sick feeling to go away. All she wanted to do at that moment was be held and she knew Matt wouldn't do it because of the whole 'no strings attached' deal.

Matt frowned as he looked at her. "Okay, let's talk about this later," he said, seeing as she was getting worked up pretty easily. "Let's go get the beer, enjoy the rest of the reception, and we can talk about it tomorrow. We'll figure something out."

Kim stopped and turned to look at Matt, nodding her head slowly. "I... Okay," she mumbled. She walked over and got Into his car, waiting for him to get in before talking. "Jimmy's been noticing that I've been gaining weight. He's mentioned it a couple times and I've lied to him. He's going to be so mad at me once I tell him I'm pregnant because he doesn't want a baby right now," Kim whispered to Matt as she looked over at him.

"None of us are technically ready for babies," Matt said as he started the car. "But that doesn't mean if something happened and we ended up pregnant, it doesn't mean we'd abandon you. We're not those kinds of guys. But this case is totally different."
