::Who Knew::

Derek smiled sadly and leaned back for a moment to press a kiss to her forehead, "Relax, Ems, you're okay," he whispered quietly. He moved to sit down beside her and clutched at her hand, too afraid to let go. He didn't want to because he didn't want to let her out of sight or see her hurt in any sort of way. "I can help you change before you talk to them if you want," he offered, figuring she might be a bit more comfortable in the clothes that she had had Chase bring to the hospital. All that Derek cared about was her being happy and comfortable. She deserved the absolute beset in the world.

Emily nodded and mumbled, "I'm working on it." She sighed and quit crying and wiped her face as she calmed. Her hands still revealed how scared she was. She nodded and said, "Okay." she stood up and grabbed the bag of clothes which had a light blue tank top and a pair of black sweat pants. She put the sweat pants on first before shedding her gown and trying to get the tank top on with Derek's help. She went back to the bed and didn't know how to get in. "Um," She whispered frowning softly.

Derek was quiet as he helped Emily, trying to make the process as easy as possible on the girl. He couldn't help but grin at her hesitation when she reached the bed. He didn't hesitate though, only moved forward and leaned so he could pick her up into his arms. Being as careful as possible, he set her back in her bed. "Do you want me to go ask a nurse to call the police now?" He asked quietly, raising an eyebrow as he looked to her. What they did was going to be entirely up to her, he didn't want to push her buttons at all. That wasn't his place.

Emily was not in her bra, panties, tank top, and sweat pants. She felt him pick her up, and adorable squeak coming out as he did so. She felt him set her down in the bed and looked up at him as she moved so she could sit up from the pillows. She heard his question and looked at him fear in her eyes. She nodded and murmured, "Yes." She wasn't going to back down from this. She had backed down too many times as it was.

Derek nodded and squeezed her hand reassuringly before turning around and heading out of the room. He stopped at the nurses' station and asked one of them to call the police - saying that his friend needed to press charges against her boyfriend. Returning to Emily's room, he gave her a small smile. "They should be here in a bit," he murmured as he took a seat in the chair beside the bed and reached out to take her hand and squeeze it gently. "Do you want me to stay with you when they come or do you want me to leave?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

Emily squeezed his hand back and laid down as she did so. She waited for him to come back as she shut her eyes and just relaxed. She opened her eyes again hearing him come in. She then looked up at him and murmured, "Stay with me please." She looked up again slightly tired. "This medicine makes me woozy. When do I get to go home, D?" She asked him, looking up at him as she held his hand.

"As soon as you're done talking to the police, but you have to come back in a week to see if you're healing properly and everything," Derek answered quietly, offering her a small smile. He continued to run his finger over her hand, trying to keep her relaxed. About ten minutes later, a knock came at the door and two policemen walked inside. They questioned his presence bt when Emily said she wanted him there, they both nodded immediately. Asking her questions took another ten minutes before one pulled out a business card from his wallet, "If you need anything, to tell us more about the case or you need help with smething else, call at anytime," he had said with a smile before they both left.

Derekk turned to her and raised an eyebrow, "Do you just want to go back to my place?"

Emily nodded and said, "Okay." She held his hand tightly, not letting go for a single second. She told the police everything, at the end having tears in her eyes. Her voice was barely a whisper. She hated talking about it, because then it became more than just something she had made up. It was actually real. She knew it was, but it still didn't seem like it. She took their car and stuffed it in her sweat pants pocket. She saw the friendly smile and nodded. She looked back to Derek and said, "Yeah. As long as my mom knows where I'm at. You know how she is." She murmured and started to stand up, wincing at the pain in her side. She bit her lip as she did so. She stood up and leaned on the wall and said, "Okay, bad idea."

Derek was quiet as he squeezed her hand gently, a small smile on his lips as he leaned down to press a kiss to her forehead. When the police left, he started to gather her things to carry them out but when she had trouble standing, he told her he'd be reight back. He returned a few minutes later, having put everything in his car. He moved to pick her up, being as careful as he could manage to. "Did you want to stop anywhere and grab some food?" He asked, figuring that she was probably hungry. After all, she had been through a lot in the past few hours and she probably needed the fuel.

Emily wiped the tears from her face giving Derek a broken smile. She couldn't give him a real smile quite yet. She was still broken. She heard him, and nodded. She had managed to make it to the doorway when he had gotten back. She bit her lip and felt him pick her up, holding onto his shoulders a small breath escaping her lips. Hearing him, she thought about it and said, "Wendy's?" She looked up at him and murmured, "Could we go to your house instead of mine?" She asked him biting her lip harshly. She looked up at him, slightly afraid that he'd snap.

Derek helped her into his car and smiled a bit as he took off toward Wendy's, nodding his head when she mentioned that was where she wanted to go. He didn't much care where they went but if that was where she wanted to go, that was where they'd go. He reached over and took her hand, rubbing his finger around her hand to try and hel to reassure her. "You didn't have a choice. I don't want you going anywhere else. I just want you to be able to relax because of everything you've been through," he murmured with a shrug of his shoulders. He pulled up to Wendy's and glanced at her, still a few cars back in hte drive thru. "What do you want?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

Emily got herself into the car, not really bothering with her seatbelt, knowing that they had said it was okay if she didn't wear it. She couldn't at the moment anyways. Broken ribs and all. Yay her. Her hands were frigidly cold, tingling from lack of warmth in them. She felt him grab one, a burst of heat going from the contact. She held his hand in her lap not letting go at all. Hearing him, she gave a soft laugh and said, "I suppose no." She gave him a smile seeing him shrug shoulders. "Chicken nuggets, fries, and a Dr. Pepper, please." She told him seeing his eyebrow raised. She stuck her tongue out at him.

Derek ordered the food that she had asked for, only he ordered two chicken nuggets. Because he never quite liked her lack of interest in food. He was going to force feed her if he needed to (not that it was a pleasant idea to him, but). He decided on a chicken sandwich on a pretzel pun and an order of fries. When they received their food after he had paid, he drove to his place quickly. After he got out, he held the food in one hand and started to help her out of the car. "I can come back for the drinks," he murmured as he helped her into his place.

Emily hadn't been paying attention to what he was paying for, only what he was doing and trying not to pass out. She looked down at the pain meds they had given her and went ahead and took one. She then got out, drinks in hand. "I've got it." She told him as she went into the house with him. She sat down on the couch gently setting their drinks down. She looked up at him and said, "Why did you get two chicken nuggets?" She noticed that he held two chicken nugget things and was confused.

Derek had taken a seat immediately after helping her sit down and began to pull the food out of the bag, setting his down in front of him and hers, in front of her. He grinned up at her and shrugged his shoulders as if he was perfectly innocent, as if he hadn't done anything at all. "What?! You need to eat, you probably need the food," he answered with a shrug of his shoulders. He tilted his head to the side as he shook his head, looking up to his best friend. "You've been through a lot, Ems. Your bodyy could probably use the food, you know?" HE murmured, this time quite a bit quieter. He was just concerned about his best friend because now that he knew what her problem was, it bothered him to no end. He needed to provide for her.

Emily managed not to hurt her side as she cuddled into the couch, feeling foreign to his house once more. She wasn't used to his house much anymore. Biting her lip she murmured, "Your mom not home?" She blinked hearing him and sighed shaking her head. She watched the concern pop onto his face and murmured, "I'll eat as much as I can." She told him giving him a nod, knowing he would be happy with that answer. She picked up her chicken nuggets and started to nibble on them. That was just the way she ate. She ate much slower than anyone else she knew. Chase would get pissed and just take away the other half of it and eat it himself. That's why she never ate much anymore. She was tiny as it was, but now she was just simply bony.

Derek shook his head immediately and smiled just a bit, "Nah. She's away on a business trip," he answered with a shrug of his shoulders. he didn't think too much about it anymore, his mother was always on one trip or another. He nodded again when she said she would eat as much as she could, already half way through his first sandwich. Derek was one of those guys that ate faster than some probably thought was humanly possible. And it had always been that way. He pouted when he noticed he was already through hs sandwich and she was only on her, what was that? Her second or third nugget? He let out a sigh and reached over, squeezing her hand gently. "I can make us milkshakes after if you want," he offered, figuring she could decide once she finished eating.

Emily felt her small smile fall from her face hearing that his mother was on another trip. She frowned and scooted closer to him, letting her legs fall on his lap lightly and felt comfortable. She continued to nibble at her food. She noticed the pout and felt her heart fall. "I"m sorry." she whispered looking down. "I'm sorry that I eat slow.." Biting her lip she continued to eat gently, having not even touched her fries yet. Hearing him, she smiled and murmured, "Okay." She kept her hand in his, feeling good like this. She was still a little bit hesitant with everything. She wasn't meaning to be, but it came out naturally. She wanted to go back to Choir. She had never had to heart when she started dating Chase. She wondered if the teacher would let her back in.

Derek shrugged his shoulders, not really caring about his mother being gone. Sure, when he was home alone, late at night, it botheredh im because he started thinking too much. But he wasn't alone right now and his biggest concern was his best friend beside him. "It's fine, she's got a career she enjoys so I wouldn't want to hold her back," he answered her with a small smile. "You don't have to apologise, Ems. I just want to make sure you get to eat enough because of how much you've been through tonight," he murmured. He turned so he was facing her more with a gentle smile, "so, what do you want to do tomorrow?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. He figured it couldn't hurt to let her pick what they did tomorrow .

Emily chewed at her lip piercing as she continued to slowly eat. She didn't like eating fast. It was boring and besides you were supposed to enjoy your food. She blinked and frowned and murmured, "Oh Derek." She hugged him again hiding her face in his neck not wanting to let go of him. She had scars all over her body from Chase. She gave him a soft smile and said, "He used to take away my food when I was only half way done because he said I was taking too long." She shrugged and murmured, "Umm, I don't know. Movie marathon?" She offered and shrugged. "It's been so long since I've done anything I wanted to." She looked down at her hands and sighed.
