Love Overcomes All Odds

Roxy frowned and kissed him softly; she relished in the relief that his lips brought to her. "Which part? About how my mom passed, my stepmother hated me, or the fact that my dad and your mom were engaged but our grandfathers broke it up?" She mumbled not realizing how much Shawn did or didn't know about the life that was meant to be. "I mean, my dad dated your mom in high school, but he said she was the one...He said he knew it from the moment he saw her, but then my grandfather made him marry into money, my mother...and then she died, and it was all for nothing. I don't know if he regrets me or that more," her voice rang quietly as tears formed in her eyes. Roxy never cried in front of anyone; it terrified her. She buried her face into the blankets hoping he wouldn't see her tears as they fell down her cheeks.

Smiling as he saw her blush, he couldn't help but think of how absolutely perfect she was. Taking his turn, Jake blushed a deep red at her words and looked up at the stars. "I um...ya...that doesn't...that doesn't usually happen. I promise," he said clearly embarrassed. "Just...being around you...it's like I'm drunk, and the filter between my brain and my mouth disappears," his deep voice drawled into the crisp night sky. "But hey, we always have time to practice, right?" He asked as he knew they had at least the rest of the summer to be together. "We'll find new places...make it interesting. We can even try those fuzzy cuff things if you like," winking, he chuckled softly and leaned down giving her a sweet kiss.

"Oh Roxy baby." Shawn coed and rubbed her back. "I am sure he doesn't see you as a mistake. He is just a man with a lot of regrets. And that is not your fault." he said and kissed her head making a face at the thought that they could be siblings even by marriage. Shawn pulled her closer so she would cry into his chest. "Roxy honey don't cry I am here and we have a beautiful future ahead." he said and smiled. Shawn ran his hand through her hair holding her close and soothing her his lips brushing over her forehead.

Anita blushed and giggled. "You noticed those huh?" she said and cuddled into him and kissed his warm cheek. "It was perfect Jake." she soothed. "And I kind of love that you hold nothing back from me. I want to be more like that." she said and wrapped herself around him tightly. She was so glad she had him no matter for how long. Anita looked at him taking in every ounce of him. "I don't regret anything with you." she grinned and hummed softly. She was so happy he understood her in more ways then one.

Roxy frowned and shook her head as her tears began to slow. "Shawn...he hates me. He used to say that you guys were evil. He was filled with so much hate. I...I just wish that I could have know him when he was happy...or that my mother was still here. She was so sweet. You would have loved her," she smiled as she thought about her mom. "She used to make peach cobbler every Sunday. It was a treat, something sweet to start the week, is what she used to say," her voice rang with nothing but happiness and love as she spoke about her.

Jake smiled down at her as he cupped her cheek running her thumb gently over her cheek bone gazing at her. "You are so beautiful," he murmured as she hummed. He kissed the top of her head gently. "No regrets," he agreed as he whispered into her hair. Enjoying the vibration of her hum on his chest . it made him happy to feel her here in his arms. "Anita...thank you," he said softly as he looked up at the stars never having felt happier in his life.

Shawn rubbed her back and kissed her tears off her cheeks. "Roxy..." he remained quiet though as she continued on about her mother. That smile was a beautiful smile. "There you go honey hold on to the good things, the rest is in the past. I don't care what other's say we are not splitting up." he soothed and kissed the tip of her nose lovingly. "I told you already this is all going to work out." he said and smiled. Shawn was going to keep her with him for a very very long time.

Anita smiled and leaned her head into his hand. She blushed smiling as he called her beautiful. Only he would think so with how plain she was. "Thank you for what?" she whispered and snuggled more into him her eyes drifting closed. She was tired and it felt so good to cuddle into him like this. Anita let her fingers trace over his skin as she listened to his heart beating.

Roxy nodded and smiled up at him giving him a tender and sweet kiss. She closed her eyes as her head rested against his chest. Her breathing became slow and steady as she continued relaxing into his arms tangling her legs between his. "How was talking with your brother tonight?" With everything that happened at the bar, she hadn't had a chance to ask and thought this quiet time would be better than any. shifting back a little bit, her eyes met his allowing herself to melt into their sweet beauty.

"For everything...You helped me face my fears, personal and career," he began quietly as he continued rubbing soft shapes on her soft skin. "You've shown me a whole new way of being, and it makes me happier than I ever have been," Jake's voice didn't waiver as he thought about all of the changes he had made since meeting Anita. Every change had been positive, and he couldn't ask for anything better to have turned his life around.

Shawn smiled. "It was good. I didn't realize how much I had missed him." he confessed and shrugged. He kissed her again and rubbed her arm. "You ready for me to take you into my bed?" he asked thinking that they were dry enough now and the floor was not the best place to sleep. He smirked his nose running under her jaw.

Anita smiled and kissed him softly. "Well thank you too then because I never would have been this girl without you." she said and wrapped her arms around him. She was glad that she had given him a second chance. It had been so worth it but now she knew there would come a time where she would hurt him. "Jake... promise me something..."

"Now you have an entire year to get to be with him which I am sure will be perfect for you guys," she said sweetly as she kissed his cheek. Roxy giggled and smiled as he did so. She snuggled closer to him and ran a hand through his thick locks, "that sounds like a perfect idea." Leaning down, she gave him a soft and tender kiss.

Jake smiled kissing her back and pulling her closer to him. "Not a problem at all," he winked kissing her temple. "What can I promise you?" His voice rang softly as his eyes met hers with nothing but love and happiness. Running his fingers through her silky smooth hair, he let his fingers tangle into her locks at the end.

Shawn smiled and stood picking her up bridal style and took her to his room. He crawled into bed with her and smiled kissing her all over before pulling the covers over them. "Get some sleep Roxy we have tons of work to do tomorrow." he said and smiled softly at her.

Anita looked into his eyes. "I am serious about this Jake. You have to swear you will keep this promise no matter what okay?" she asked waiting until he agreed. "Promise to follow your dreams. If your dream is to do music, then do music and do it big. You are so talented Jake you could do anything you wanted. So find something you love and do that. But always do what ever you are going to do big." she said sitting up holding a blanket to her chest. She looked over at him her eyes sad and serious. She waited until he said something. "I want you to understand on a deeper level. Play that tune from earlier." she said softly and handed his guitar to him. She pulled his shirt on and waited for him. Once he was playing that tune she started to sing. She knew she wouldn't always be able to be around but she knew he would never forget this and maybe this could inspire him to keep going when times get hard.

Roxy kissed him softly and raised an eyebrow at him. "Alright," she said quietly before snuggling into his side. "Goodnight," she murmured as she closed her eyes and drifted to sleep.

The next morning, she stretched and fluttered her eyes open slowly. She reached for Shawn but frowned when she couldn't find him. Looking around the room, she slid up into a sitting position holding the covers over her chest. "Shawn?" Her sweet voice rang sleepily.

Jake listened to her carefully and looked at her with wondering eyes. "Anita, where is all of this going?" He asked softly before she continued. Grabbing his guitar, he started strumming keeping his eyes trained on her with curiosity. Once she finished the song, he couldn't form words. All he knew was that his heart was racing and that the love he had for her could explode out of him at any moment sending him straight to the stars. Putting his guitar down, he cupped her cheeks and brought her in for the most passionate kiss yet. His strong hands held her steady as his lips moved against hers in tender passion. Laying her back down after a few moments, he hovered over her begging to begin what they had finished a short while ago. This time, there wouldn't be any words, just pure sensual movements.

Shawn came into the room holding pancakes and milk on a tray. He walked over to her and smiled. "Morning gorgeous." he said and kissed her sweetly. He had already eaten while she was asleep. He just hadn't had the heart to wake her. "You looked so peaceful but I was starving." he smirked in explanation. Shawn ran a hand over her bare back already dressed for the day but his boots were still on the floor while he lay on the bed beside her.

Anita smiled softly at how he looked at her. She kissed him deeply back her hands in his hair as he moved back over her. Anita ran a hand down her chest. "Promise?" she whispered against his lips." she reached down and pulled off the shirt her body arching to him. Jake was all she wanted and all she loved in the world. Anita wrapped her arms around his neck kissing him again. She was holding back until he said he promised. She felt the tears in her eyes. "That is all I could ever want." Anita said and kissed him again wanting him again. "Make love to me."

Roxy blushed and smiled as he did so and kissed him back sweetly as well. She sat up and took a bite of the pancakes he made her and looked over at him. "Thank you, Shawn. These are absolutely amazing," she said happily as she gave him another sweet kiss. "What is the plan for the day?" Her voice rang curiously as she finished up her pancakes and slipped her clothes back on.

Jake nodded and kissed her softly. "Promise," he whispered against her lips before lowering His lips down to her neck and beginning exactly what she ordered him to do. Laying besides her a little while later, he breathed heavily as he tried to catch his breath. His string arms reached for her pulling her into his chest holding her as close as possible. Kissing her temple softly, he couldn't believe any of this. "Promise me this isn't a dream," his voice Rang quietly against her skin as he Nuzzled himself closer to her.

Anita smiled. "I promise Jake. This is not a dream." she whispered and snuggled into him. Anita sighed as she relaxed feeling absolutely exhausted but at the same time absolutely wonderful. She let her fingertips move over his skin. "Let's sleep here." she whispered wanting to wake up in his arms to the sunrise. She closed her eyes and then let them flutter open to look at him.

Shawn smiled and kissed her. "We have so much to do today. I think I might need to get going and have you join me later." he said and kissed her shoulder his fingers running up and down her spin. Shawn grinned and laid back as he watched her. He was really upset with what happened the night before. There had to be something done about it.

Jake nodded and held her close to him nuzzling his face into her neck. Taking in her sweet scent, he wanted to burn this memory into his mind. Tangling their legs together, he sighed softly and kissed her shoulder. Quietly, he began to sing her to sleep letting his heart fill with the happiness created by this moment. He knew that no matter what happened at the end of the summer, this will always be the best night of his life.

"Or you can actually take the day off for once, cool down, and deal with it all tomorrow," Roxy said softly as she cuddled up beside him once she sat up. Looking up at him from beneath her lashes, she softly kissed his cheek. "Why don't we take that adventure either today or this weekend? And I want a promise. No ifs, ands, or butts unless they are ours in your truck on the way to somewhere far away from here for a little while," her voice rang sweetly as she laced her fingers with his.

Anita smiled and closed her eyes. She was asleep sooner than she had expected to be.Anita slept peacefully for the rest of the night. In the morning she woke to the sunrise. She giggled softly and curled into Jake more. It felt so right to be in his arms like this. Anita grinned and closed her eyes again. He had no idea how perfect he was for her and how he had made her the most happiest of any person to date. She lay there a while waiting for Jake to wake up. When Anita got tired of waiting she sat up some and kissed him until she felt him stir beneath her.

Shawn frowned. Take the day off? He hadn't taken a day off in a long time, not officially anyways. "I promise we can go on an adventure this weekend." he said and stroked her hair. "What would we do today if we took it off?" he asked wondering if she had seen how bad he had been the night before. She didn't seem scared of him though.

A small smile came to Jake's face as the beautiful woman in his arms kissed him awake. His arms reached up and gently pulled her down onto his chest holding her close. His strong biceps tucked her into his warm chest kissing her lips tenderly. His large hands covered her back as he rubbed her soft skin gently. "Can you always wake me up like this?" Jake mumbled against her lips before giving them another sweet pressed with his own. Fluttering his eyes open and meeting her gorgeous ones, his blue orbs lit up at the sight of her. His smile grew widely as he took in each goddess like feature of her face in the basking glow of the Sun.

Straddling his lap with the sheet still covering her body, she placed one of her small hands against his chest and began drawing soft circles. "Well, we can start by going to the puppy store and looking at the little cuties, or we could pack a bag and drive until we're in a whole other city. We can go anywhere we want for the night and just relax. We can go find a nice pool, have those fruity drinks with the umbrellas, and sit outside lookin' at the stars layin on a hammock in the middle of nowhere," her voice rang quietly with a hint more of her southern drawl than usual.

Anita giggled. She moved onto his chest sitting there naked on top of him. She blushed and pulled the blanket over her breasts covering most of her body but her leg was still bare. "I would love to." she said and ran a hand through her hair. "We should really get going though. I know your mom will wonder where we ran off too." she said and kissed him again a small moan of pleasure escaping her lips. "Jake... I am not sure I will ever be able to fully express the feelings in my heart for you." she said her eyes growing sad wishing she could share it all.

Shawn laughed. "I got it you want to go on a trip." he said and kissed her. "This weekend I swear." he said and sighed his hands rubbing her arms. "I should call Ellie and have her get the crew started on cleaning up." he said and sighed kissing her and rolling her over. He hovered over her a devilish look in his eyes before he pulled back running a hand through his hair. He sighed the scars of his heart showing on the look of his face. He pulled on some pants scraping his phone off the nightstand and opened the doors to the back of the house. Shawn stood in the sun and called Ellie still in ear shot of Roxy. He looked back at her for a second before out at the ranch before him. He belonged there at his house like that. He belonged in the rigidness of the country.

Cupoing her cheek gently and kissed her tenderly. ""Last nighr told me everyrhing I neeeded to know, love," he whispered. Jake smiled and held her close to him. "I'll make it up to her," he winked as his hands ran up and down her sides gently. Allowing the pads of his fingertips to memorize each and every inch of her gorgeous skin. "Can't we just spend the day together?" His voice rang quietly before he leaned up and gave her a loving smile.

Roxy frowned and slipped out of bed gathering her clothes.

Ellie immediately began crying as she answered the phone.

Tucking a curl behind her ear, Roxy rolled her eyes hearing Ellie's sobs. She slipped her jeans back on along with her bra and began making the bed.

Anita moaned softly against his lips and giggled at his reply. "What will we do all day?" she asked her eyes closing as his hands moved over her skin under the blanket. She felt her grip on the blanket loosening and she moaned again softly. She loved the way he touched her. She loved him so much and yet she knew she was unworthy of him. Anita looked back down at him and cupped his cheek. "I am glad you don't need words to understand this." she whispered and nuzzled her nose into his neck her lips slowly kissing his neck before finding a tender spot and nibbling at it. She took her chance to suck away the pain leaving a sweet little picky. She pulled back and giggled. "Opps." she said and ran her fingers over it.

Shawn was immediately concerned hearing Ellie sobbing. "Ellie? What's wrong? Were are you? Damn it woman speak!" he said worried. After last night he was supper hyped up and really to crumble at any time. He sighed as she started to talk about how she was feeling. He leaned back into the wall relieved. Sometimes Ellie over reacted and it always left him drained. He leaned his head back on the wall glad that there wasn't a real emergency. Shawn looked tiredly over at Roxy and bit his lip. He was so in love with that girl in his bedroom. He was getting crazy ideas that would be much to fast in their relationship and yet he didn't think he cared anymore. Today he would take her into town and they could have a nice date. Then the day after that he would whisk her away for that trip she wanted. Shawn sighed. "Ellie... breath. You are okay."
