As the silence started to settle in, Jared began to regret even mentioning the whole thing. It had just made the situation worse and awkward. He was sure that Casey did not want hear about issues with his girlfriend that were completely about her. Maybe it was a completely mistake even coming inside in the first place. "Yeah, anyway, I don't want to go further into detail," He cleared his throat, busying himself with the dog instead. "M-Maybe I should get going.." Jared trailed off, not knowing what else to say.

"Well, that's kind of sweet, no? I mean, if she doesn't have three million stray animals in her house, then it's sweet," She corrected, finishing off the slice of pizza. "Both of you should talk about it. Sit down together and just talk about it. If both of you come to a consensus, they it will just resolve everything," Alyssa stated, even though she knew it would not be that easy.

Casey frowned slightly. "D-don't go." She said softly as she bit down on her lip. "We don't have to talk about that I just um... I don't really want o be alone right now." She mumbled that last part she was hoping it was inaudible because well she didn't like showing any weakness and admitting that she didn't like to be alone well that was a big one.

Logan let out a humorless chuckle. "Casey's mind doesn't change. She'll do whatever she wants with or without approval or help from anyone else." Logan said with a small sigh as he ran a hand through his hair. "It would be sweet if the last one didn't bite everything that moved." He mumbled.

Jared could barely register that she had asked him not to leave. It had come as a complete shock to him. Casey was always independent and usually refused to ask for help, which is why it had come as a shock. This was one favor he could not turn away from. "Oh," He merely stated, not knowing what else to say. "How, um, how was class today?" He asked, struggling to come up with another conversation.

"Yeah, I think I've noticed that. She's kind of stubborn," She lightly laughing, letting her eyes drop slightly. It seemed that Jared had a thing for stubborn girls. "That's why I can't have any pets. It would pretty much tear up everything in my house or anyone that stepped inside of it," She understood the concern. "She should just give the animal into the shelter."

Casey frowned at her own words his reaction was worse. "I'm sorry that was really dumb and I sound really really pathetic." She mumbled shaking her head. "If you want to leave you can. I shouldn't have asked you to stay. It's not right and not fair to you." She said as she stood up. She had no idea why she'd even asked and it got really awkward she could feel it.

"That's where she got a couple of her last ones. She doesn't like shelters." Logan said with a slight chuckle. "She said they are like death camps for animals and only the cute young ones make it out alive. I tried to get her to give them to one once I was screamed out of her apartment. She threw a doggy biscuit at me.

"No, no," He reassured, blaming his own stupidity for making the situation worse. "If you need me, Casey, I told you that I'd be here for you," Jared reached out to grab her hand, asking her to take her seat on the couch. "Please, sit back down. We can have complete silence, if you want. I'll just be here for you." He locked eyes with her, giving a small smile.

Alyssa had no idea how to respond to something like that. It was honestly insane. "That's.. That's something. My parents always adopted from the shelter. We got our favorite Golden Retriever from the local shelter," She sighed, feeling a slight twinge of pain from his recent passing. "Casey has a bunch of these opinions, doesn't she?" She questioned with a small scoff.

Casey sighed softly letting herself be pulled back onto the couch. She looked at Jared with a small sad smile as she leaned into the the couch her eyes glassy with tears. "I don't know if I'm strong enough for this." Casey whispered softly dropping her gaze from Jared. She never thought ever that she'd be alone for something like this but here she was doing all this on her own."I don't even know where to start."

Logan chuckled slightly at Alyssa. "More than a bunch you could fill a few hundred libraries worth of books on all her opinions." He joked as he grabbed a slice of pizza. He'd been to busy with his car to actually eat.He looked at Alyssa curiously she really was not all that she seemed.

As soon as the tears started to form, Jared was ready to be by her side. He absolutely hated it when she was upset like this. "Hey, you are strong enough for this. If anyone would be strong enough to handle this situation, it is you," He stated, wrapping an arm around her side. Jared lightly rubbed her arm, hoping to ease her pain. "Start where ever you want. If you forget something, don't worry about it. We have all the time for you."

"Well, hopefully, I won't be around to read those hundreds of books. I have enough of that studying pre-law," She sighed, realizing that she must have taken too much of his time. Glancing down at the time on her phone, she checked to see that an hour had easily passed. "I should probably get going and leave you to the pizza," Alyssa smiled before turning on her heel.

Casey leaned into Jared with a soft sigh trying to keep her tears in as best as she could. She rubbed her eye's wiping away the tears that had fallen from her eyes. "Why are you so nice to me?" She mumbled with a small sad smile. She wished she hadn't screwed things up with him but It was what it was and he had moved on. Alyssa was a lucky girl. "You have so much faith in me."

Logan chuckled at her comment. "Ya it's not very interesting." He mumbled as he watched her. "You haven't really bothered me I was just gonna watch movies and drink a beer or two. You can hang around and wait for Jared if you want? He isn't usually gone for long." He stated as he shut the hood of the car and grabbed the box of pizza.

Starting to feel the sobs, he tightened his arm around her shoulder. "Casey, I'm not being nice to you. I know you can do this. It's a simple fact. You just have to believe in yourself," He reassured. Jared smiled over in her direction and kissed the top of her head. "You're going to be able to do this with or without my idiot of a brother."

Alyssa paused and turned to look over her shoulder slightly. "Oh, um, sure. I could use a beer," She admitted with a small sigh. Taking another step toward him, she reached out her hand to take the box of pizza from him. "I'll help carry it in. What movie anyway?" She asked out of curiosity.

Casey smiled slightly as she looked at him. "Thank you." She whispered softly as she laid her head on his shoulder enjoying the comfort she got from him. "Um... could you go with me to the appointment?" She asked hesitantly biting her lip. She really didn't know if she could do it alone especially the appointments she wasn't exactly a fan of other people sticking needles into her she'd rather do it herself but they needed to take her blood.

"Alright." Logan said a little shocked he hadn't expected her to take him up on his offer. "I hadn't really decided. What kind of movies do you like?" He asked leading the way inside holding the door so it didn't shut in her face. "You can put the pizza on the coffee table." He said as he went to kitchen grabbing a couple of beers and going back to the living room.

Jared was nothing less than thrilled by her invitation, enjoying that she relied on him. "O-Of course, Casey," He smiled down at her, knowing of her fear of needles. It was quite ironic that she was becoming a doctor but was afraid of needles. "You just let me know what time and where. I'll come pick you up," Jared offered, hoping that this would ease some of her worry.

"Action. Horror. That kind of stuff. The romantic comedies never really sat with me well," She admitted while scrunching her nose slightly. Entering inside of the house, she murmured a 'thank you' as he held the door. Alyssa placed the pizza box down onto the table while taking a seat on the couch in the living room.

"It's at 3 on Friday." Casey said softly a smile on her lips. "I have to be there 15 minutes early to fill out paper work though." She added as she looked up at him. "I don't know what I would do without you." She whispered softly almost inaudible. She probably wouldn't have been able to handle Jared hating her and Logan well just being himself during the situation.

"Good cause I would not put that on at all for any reason." Logan said and it wasn't a lie though he'd been forced to watch the by Casey and maybe the girl before he wasn't really sure they dated for not very long. "Have you seen Grave Dancers?" He asked as he sat down handing her a beer and opening his own with his lighter.

"Okay, I will be here around two then. Just to be sure that we won't be late," He reassured her, meeting her gaze below. His hand softly squeezed her shoulder and smiled as her words reached his ears. "You won't have to figure it out, Casey," Jared promised, relaxing back onto the couch. It was nearing midnight, but he could not bring himself to leave her alone inside of the house.

Alyssa grinned since she figured that Logan was not one for the genre. "Don't worry. I won't put you through that," She lightly chuckled, reaching out to grab the beer. Taking a quick swig of it, she sighed as the liquor slid down her throat. "That hits the spot," She mumbled before addressing the question. "Yes, it's amazing. Probably top ten on my list of horror movies."

Casey smiled softly at his words and his touch. It was nice it reminded her a little bit of how it used to be. He was like a warm fireplace something about him made her feel safe and warm inside like nothing bad could happen and that had always frightened her a little. Good things didn't last but she was fine with that for now she just didn't want to be alone. She didn't realize her eyes were falling shut even though she'd tried to keep them open.

Logan gave a sigh of relief with a slight chuckle. "Thank god I can't go through another movie like that." He chuckled as he sat down beside her grabbing his remote and going through his movies. "There it is. I couldn't agree with you more. Jeepers Creepers is on the list too." He added with a grin as he started the movie. He caught sight of the time noting that Jared was still gone but hey he was here with Alyssa so who cared really.

Jared leaned back onto the couch and let his hand trail up and down her arm, hoping that it would relax her. Before he even realized, Casey had fallen asleep in his arms. He reached out to tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear with a gentle smile. Jared knew that she needed the rest, especially considering the recent drama. The last thing that he wanted to do was wake her, so he merely closed his eyes to trail off into a deep sleep.

"For the record though, they're not that bad," She corrected, settling cross legged on the couch. Alyssa was unsure of why Jared was so against her hanging around Logan. He did not seem to be that bad of a person. "Yes, exactly! Jared hates watching horror movies," She rolled her eyes since he refused to go to the movies with her. If she wanted a horror movie, Alyssa needed to go by herself.

Casey slept the last image in her mind was Jared looking at her. There was something about him being there that just made relax. Her arms wrapped around him unconsciously in her sleep it was something that was natural and that her body just seemed to remember, it was something that just wasn't there with Logan he refused to hold her in her sleep but it was the only way she could sleep well.

"I think there's only one I could stand and that was the ugly truth." Logan said as he relaxed into couch. "I prefer just regular comedies, action, horror. I can't really deal with sappy." Logan admitted as he started the movie looking over at Alyssa. Jared was the more sensitive one, Logan couldn't really handle that and honestly he probably wouldn't be very good at it.

Jared slept peacefully throughout the night, feeling Casey's warmth around him. It was a familiar touch that he missed. His arms wrapped loosely around her waist, drawing her up against him. No matter how amazing Alyssa was, what he had with Casey was different. The following morning, Jared slowly opened his eyes to see that they were wrapped around each other. It was bit embarrassing on his part. She seemed too peaceful to disturb though.

Alyssa nodded her head slightly since it was reasonable. Most of the guys she dated in the past had an automatic dislike for chick flicks. "Alright, I can understand that. People have their own tastes," She relaxed back onto the couch, sipping her beer. "Jared sucks it up and watches them with me once in a while," She shrugged her shoulders.
